MAT AND CLUBS

The new academic session saw a revamping of the activities of the middle and senior school to make it more interactive and interesting. As the students have already done the basic skill building activities in the primary classes, it was decided to go in for specializa-tion as per the interest of the student. Thus, a choice of activity was offered in the form of Music, Art and Theatre. This has enabled students to hone their creative skills and advance their learning further.

Another addition to the curriculum was the incorporation of ‘CLUBS’ which has left the stu-dents spoilt for choice. A plethora of 20 activity clubs has been put in place and the stu-dents are pursuing their hobbies/interests through these club activities with great flair and zeal .

Science Activity Centre

SAC (Science Activity Centre) is an initiative to develop processing skills in science, which range from keen observation, classification, measure-ment, analysis and other intricacies of scientific observation. It emphasizes on making the student look around, think and develop a scientific out-look. SAC encourages clarification of concepts through activities rather than rote learning.

Students assess various characteristics of objects and living things by using their senses more ef-fectively. The science teachers of the senior wing are being mentored by Dr. Shakuntala Bhattacharya.

Through slide shows the teachers were informed and instructed as to how they can recognize the symptoms on ADHD in a child, how to deal with it and the right time to refer a child to the special needs department of the school. The teachers found the workshop highly educative and informative and felt better equipped to deal with such cases in their day to day classroom teaching.

Workshops on Multiple Intelligences were conducted by Mrs. Vibha Par-thasarthi for Sr. school and Jr. school teachers on 28th and 29th June 2012. They were also attended by school trustee, Ms. Suminder Kaur, Principal Ms. Rashmi Mehta and Ms. Anjali Arora, Coordinator Junior School. The workshop stressed on the fact that all the students have different intelli-gences and they will excel in the field in which they are most interested. These intelligences include Linguistic, Verbal, Mathematical, Logical, Musical, Spatial, Visual, Kinesthetic, Bodily, Interpersonal, Intrapersonal, Naturalistic, and Existential. It was expected of the teachers to recognize the intelligence possessed by a child and then help the child develop upon those faculties. Think n Ink A GREAT TEACHER !!!

A Teacher is…

Someone who is wise... Who cares about the students, and wears

no disguise. But is honest, open and shares from the

heart… Not just lessons from books, but life, of

which we are a part… A teacher takes time to help and tutor,

English, maths and even computer. It's my teacher, who's patient, even in stress. Who never gives less, than the very best!

Not that I was the perfect student, But you have been the perfect teacher for

me!!!! Thank you, dear teacher…

Nature When in the morning, the sunbeams

dance, And the wind moves up and down. Under the trees and over the grass,

The squirrels move around, To find a nut on the ground.

The flowers bloom, Waiting for the birds to come soon. Over the hills, and down the valleys,

Here comes the rain with a sudden sally. Now it’s the time for the night to be,

The stars and moons everyone can see. Birds are in their nests,

And the flowers in their beds. How beautiful nature can be!

I thought of it when I was drinking coffee.

Uf! My Handwriting!

Albeit, I have many superlatives to myself, but my handwriting is an Achilles foot for me. The way one writes, reflects the entire personality of a person. Maybe, it’s the haste that has made my handwriting a waste. My laxity and introduction to the pen have made the problem grave. To shroud the negative aspect of myself, I even retort harshly to others. Many times, I wonder how people manage to write like an angel, against my chicken scratch fonts. But of late, my handwriting was mocked by my very own sister, that shook me out off my slumber. I am determined to reinvent it.

Free Bird I have been living with shadows overhead,

I have been sleeping with clouds above my bed. I have been looking for someone to throw some light, I have been trying to find a sun but all there is, is the

dark night. Maybe, all I need is a bit of inspiration, maybe a little

guidance to end the confusion… Struggling with the thoughts running through my mind,

Waiting for something that I am trying to find. Why all that I see is black and white?

Is it color blindness or is it just color going out of sight? The future’s lying vague in front of me,

But all I want is to be free. I will be able to fly like a free bird into the world of

dreams. With the stars twinkling, making splendid scenes.

The clouds will just vanish into the blue, And make all my wishes and aspirations come true!!

How Poor Are We?

One day a father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the countryside with the firm purpose of showing him how the poor people lived. They spent a couple of days and nights at the farm of a very poor family. On their return from the trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” It was great dad!” replied the son. “Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked. “Yup” said the son. “So tell me what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father.

The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog they have four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden, and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden, and they have stars at night. Our patio reaches to the frontyard, and they have the whole horizon. We have a small piece of land to live on, and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us; they have friends to protect them.”

The boy’s father was speechless.

Then his son added, “Thanks, Dad, for showing me how poor at heart, we are.”

Dear Readers Driven by the need to enhance communication between ourselves, the parents and students, we bring to you another issue of

our E News letter “Visages”. We thank all of you for giving us a host of activities to be covered in the newsletter. In fact, it has

been very difficult to be selective. Student’s response has been immense and efforts of the editorial team, laudable. We hope

that you will go through the newsletter with an open mind and a willing spirit.

Recently the school celebrated its 10th Founder’s day and each founder’s day I am reminded of the words of Stephen Schwartz:

We cannot know what will occur.

Just make the journey worth the taking.

And pray we're wiser than we were,

in the beginning.

It's the beginning.

Now we begin……

Warm wishes and happy reading. Rashmi Mehta Principal
