The 10th installation ceremony of Leo clu of University

of Moratuwa took place on 21st July 2013 at Department ofTextile and Clothing, University of Moratuwa.

The Guest of Honour of the ceremony was immediate

past distric president Leo Isuru Senadheera. And the chief guest

was Distric president Leo Kaneel Maddumage. Special Guest

was PCC Lion Anver Dole MJF.

Important activities that has taken place:

- Pinning the 10 Year Clu anner patch to the clu anner

- Inducting new clu memers and distriution of pins & cer-

Annual orientation programme of Leo Cluof University of Moratuwa was held on 4th of July

2013 in a classroom at the department of mechan-

ical engineering.

It was not merely another project of Leo clu,

ut also was the future of the Leo clu at the uni-

versity. This programme was conducted with the

participation of most of the Leos, the prospects

and more than 100 students who like to join the

clu as new lood of the UOM Leos.

The new cheerful leostic year

2013/14 was started with the religious

lessings for the Leo clu of University

of Moratuwa with a odhi pooja at SriWijayarama temple, Wewala on 24th July

2013.

This foremost function of the clu

was specially intended for the newly

appointed memers and all the pros-

pects to get the lessings of triple gems

for the new officials, memers and for

the upcoming projects of the Leo Clu of

University Moratuwa.

This function recalled one of ourgreat Leos Mahesh Aeywickrama who

had an unexpected death due to accident

and who was the initiator of this event

few years ago.

In the orientation programme, new comers

were educated aout the history, ojectives and

dispersion of Leo clus all over the world.

They were further informed aout what was

done in the past Leostic year and also the aout

the awards won y UOM Leos at the district con-

ference for those projects. They came to knowthat Leo clu does not only provide social services

for the etterment of the society, ut also lots of

enefits for them as well to improve themselves.

They could get a etter and clearer idea on

the role that they can play in the clu on this day.

Games and a few fun activities were also there at

the orientation programme to improve the leader-

ship skills, group work ailities.

It also rought an invaluale opportunity to

develop the connection etween the Leos and the

newly joined memers.

The past memers,

Leo memers and prospects

of the Leo clu of University

of Moratuwa where gathered

together in the department of

Textile, UoM on 21st of July 2013to recollect their memories and

share their intimate experiences

with the fresh lood of the clu.

This made a countless oppor-

tunity of introducing the new

prospects to the senior memers

and creating a strong link via

them to acquire the prior expe-

riences and assistances as well

as to get acquainted aout the

culture of the clu and to elao-

rate the enthusiasm of Leoism, to

widen the range in socialization

and volunteerism.

The Leo Clu of Universityof Moratuwa conducted this

project, shramadana cam-

paign Senasunata Sawiyak on

28th July 2013 at Doadanduwa,

Polgasduuwa hermitage. This was

the first project done y the new

board of Office bearers.

This was also the iggest proj-

ect of the month. Hermitage was

located in isolation and outsiders

were not allowed.On the 28th of July 2013,

Leo memers and prospects got

together at Rathgama junction y

7.45 a.m. then left to Polgasduuwa,

with necessary equipment.

From the oat yard to reach

the hermitage they had to hire

oats. After oserving five pre-

cepts our leos egan their shra-

madhana campaign y 8.45 a.m.they got into few groups and car-

ried sacks of sand, reconstructed

its aandoned routes and cleaned

the surrounding. The event was asuccess with the participation of

more than 30 Leos. With all this

things, project seemed to e it

hard ut our fellows were ale to

complete the campaign success-

fully as expected.

tive session to evoke the footpath

of UoM Leos and the legendary

chronicles of elevating the Clu tothe Most Outstanding Leo Clu

of District 306A2, along with their

emotive recalls of eing a Leo.

Imagine that your wholeheart, mind and soul are at peace

at the same time. You have a

smile on your face efore you

know it, you want to fly all over

the lue sky like you will never

fall down and suddenly you are

not afraid of anything. Yes, that

is the feeling of happiness- the

sole reason for every reath we

are taking.

Happiness is what gives us

the motive to dream, to hope

and most importantly to have

faith. It is when you feel happy in

your whole heart that you know

yes, I am living my life.

Although everyody aims

at eing happy, not everyone

succeeds. This leads people to

question so many things they

elieve in. you would start won-dering what did I do wrong, why

this is happening to me, why me

of all the people deserve to e

unhappy.

When the world seems all

ad and nothing is working for

you, first of all think why, why

this is happening to me, why

I cannot smile with my whole

heart.

Then it will struck you, itis the choice you made. In other

words what you choose to e

happy with. If your choice is

wrong, you will not e ale to ehappy.

So next question comes,

what do I have to choose or on

what asis do I choose. All these

complex situations, huge pres-

sure, now you are starting to feel

worry. Is happiness to e otained

at such a cost?

The answer is simple, no.

In order to make the choices to

e happy all you have to do is tomake the choice of eing happy.

Yes, choose to e happy. No mat-

ter what mistake you made or

what circumstances you may face,

still choose to e happy.

If you made a mistake, e

happy ecause now you will never

make that mistake again. If what

is happening around you all goes

wrong, e happy, for you are still

alive, that means yes you have

a second chance to make things

right again.

Keep an open heart so that

you will not miss the happiness

hidden in small things. Happiness

is there in the morning sun rise

which gives hope for a new day.

It is there when your parents are

smiling ecause of you. Happiness

will come to you when you helpsomeone without expecting any-

thing ack. Simply, happiness is

there where you keep your pure

heart and soul.Always listen to your heart as it

says what you truly want. If you

ever going to do what others want

you to do, then you have chosen

them to e happy not you to e

happy. Surprise yourself y doing

what you truly want to do not

ecause someone else wanted

you to do it ut ecause you want-

ed doing it with all your heart.

As it says, Life is not measured ythe reaths you took ut y the

moments that took your reath

away. So always keep an eye for

the adventures in life. And always

rememer that happiness is y

choice not y chance. So make

the choice to e happy no matter

what happens.

Leo Clu of University of Moratuwa orga-

nized a workshop on 21st of July 2013 collaorated

with their senior memers to enhance the leader-

ship capailities, interpersonal skills and the team

spirit of the memers in a result oriented ground.

Past Leos conducted the pre introductive sessionwhile, few interesting game sessions had een var-

in order to e familiar with the team, identify the

weaknesses and skills of each memer to overcome

it while striving for the triumph. More than 50 mem-

ers of the clu including Leo Prospects where par-

ticipated for the workshop with a great enthusiasm.

SHAPING THE LEADERSHIP TO MAKE A CHANGE.

FROM THE CHIEF EDITOR... EDITORIAL TEAMWith a new set of Leo leaders, we were able to start a new chapter

of the Leo club of University of Moratuwa. It is a great pleasure to release

the first issue of our newsletter Its Us for the new leoistic year.

We have done several valuable projects for this month. Among them

Senasunata Sawiyak is a new different community service project. ItsUs has provided a good opportunity to bring up creativity of UoM Leos

while publishing their community and social services.

My special thanks go to the former editor Leo Tharanga Dissanayake LEO LEOwho gave me advices and ideas for the success of the newsletter. And leo S AS IR I S IR IWARD EN A C HAPA S IR ITHUNG A

Pramodh Senanayake gave a good influential support when designing. This

year Its Us comes with an editorial team and I would like to thank my

team for the contribution and the great support they have given.

Look forward hopefully for more new activities in the coming leoistic year
