What is the “Perfect Dress”?Well, that depends on you. For some people it’s white... for others it’s red, pink or blue. It could be short, long or both (convertible!) It could be pants. It might be a dress you’d like to be able to wear again and it might be a re-styled version of your mother’s dress. The point is, it’s differ-ent for everyone and although you may not have had the vision of your perfect dress since the age of five, we’re sure you still have some ideas floating around! No problem! We know some people are nervous because they can’t try before they buy, but that’s not exactly how it works. * The first consultation is free of charge. No commitments, no deposits, no pressure. We just want to give you the opportunity to meet us in person, discuss your ideas and help you decide if our process is right for you. * The next step in the process is where we take all of your ideas (and your budget!) and do some sketches for you to show you ways to put all the bits and pieces you love into one fabulous dress. Sometimes it’s not possible to include everything you love, but we’ll do our best to help you prioritize what you love the most. We don’t want you looking like an over-decorated Christmas tree and we’ll find the nicest way to tell you if that’s the direction you’re headed! This stage does require a small booking deposit, but don’t worry - the payment of $100 will be applied to your final invoice for your dress. * Once we’ve looked at your drawings together and helped you choose your fabrics, we write all of the details in an agreement along with the total cost of your dress. No surprise charges when your dress is done. * The first fitting we do is in a test fabric. This gives you a sneak peek at the style on your body and allows us to make fit adjustments. We do this super important step just in case there are any changes to be done before we cut the pretty fabric. * Next come the fittings in what will eventually be your dress. Fear not, we’ll take it slow... start-ing with the inside structural layers, moving to the pretty fabrics you chose and finishing with the perfect details. As we said, no surprises. You will have several opportunities to tweak and tune as your dress comes together before your very eyes.

For the past six years, Kathryn has been working one on one with brides creating custom gowns under her pure (something) label. Although brides have come from as far away as Nova Scotia to meet with Kathryn and have her custom design the perfect wedding dress, she realizes that not every bride may want to travel to beautiful (but rainy) Vancouver in order to make their wedding day dreams come true.

Using the experience she has gained as a custom designer and dressmaker, Kathryn has taken on a new challenge. “High on life…a feeling that’s tough to let go of when you’re surrounded with family, friends and fans who lend their endless support, and have encouraged me every step of the way. “Since her 1998, YTV Achievement Award nomination, there have been many singing competitions and live performances for Kristal Barrett, including opening for Donna Ferra, Aaron Lines, The Good Brothers, Aaron Pritchett, Ronnie Hawkins, Deric Ruttan, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and many more.

In 2003 Kristal moved to Toronto to focus on her dream of writing, recording, and performing country music. The tough road led her to Music Mentor Productions and producer/songwriter Peter Linseman, where she recorded background vocals on Donna Ferra’s debut CD release “Waited Long Enough” and had the opportunity to go on a small tour across Ontario. Two years later the B.C native returned to work at her local country radio station in Abbotsford, BC, Country 107.1, and by the end of the year, was nominated for two BC Country Music Awards: Rising Star and Website of the Year! Kristal also won “Media Idol” for B.C and was flown to Toronto to compete live with the winners from across Canada on the Canadian Idol Finale while her first single “High on Life” debuted on Canadian Country Radio nationally. In October 2007 Kristal was nominated for three more BC Country Music Awards: Rising Star Award, Website of the Year and the Humanitarian Award. 2008 kicked off with the release of her second single “This Time Next Year” which was voted the #1 song in the Top 5 @ 5 for six consecutive weeks on Country 107.1! Many more shows followed including Merritt Mountain Music Festival and another BCCMA nomination in October 2008. About Magna Goerke:Magna Goerke loves to help people and share the experience she’s had with weddings for over 25 years. Her mother was a caterer that took full advantage of cheap child labour back in the day. In an effort to get out of the kitchen she pursued other creative outlets, but they always came back to weddings. As a formally trained artist and marketing specialist, Magna has participated in many aspects of weddings. She’s designed wedding invitations, arranged flowers, decorated halls, and even cut and served many cakes. But her diverse experience best fit the overall planning and attention to the many details of a wedding. It might be partly because of her Scottish heritage, but she’s always said “don’t start your marriage with the number one reason for divorce-money problems”. So for many years it’s been important to her to help couples make their weddings memorable and meaningful without hemorrhaging cash.

After moving out to the valley 8 years ago, she took some time to research what the unique wedding needs are out here. She found that most people plan their own weddings and what should have been the best day of their lives was instead, overwhelming and stressful. So she took her experience as a planner and passion for teaching and created the Wedding Essentials Workshops, Workbook and the DIY Wedding Resource website. She started the workshops teaching them privately and now teaches them at the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford. The website started about 5 years ago as a resource for her students and a way to list the many valuable resources she’s collected over the years. We do not have a minimum order size, so we can cater to weddings of any size. Dates creeping up on you, rush orders are a speciality, with very fast turnover times. We can customize these resale cards to match your store colours, and themes for any occasion, or you can select any quantity of predesigned cards from our on-line catalogue (coming soon).
