J. Construction S u p e r ~ s i o n and Monitoring. The Contractor s qualified supervisory
staff sha ll be present in the field during the execution of NDRC works to ensure that the
approved design and method are being followed.
Once construction has begun, automated or manual recording
of
all operational variables,
progress, drive behavior, etc., shall be carried out
to
ensure compliance with the intended
set of operational variables. The record produced shall form a continuous log of all
operational variables against the completed driving distance in a properly recorded time
frame. This record may be used as a tool and reference for inspection and control, and is a
pennanent record for troubleshooting and interpretation of a drive s behavior.
Throughout NDRC construction, existing works (roads, nearby structures, and utilities)
shall be frequently monitored by Contractor personnel under the supervision
of
qualified
staff
to
detect any ground surface movement.
k. Measurement and Payment.
I . Measurement
of
various sizes
of
pipe duct constructed by the NDRC method
will be by linear metre,
of
approved installed pipe duct constructed by the NDRC
method of that size as indicated in the Bill of Quantities and as directed by the
Engineer.
2. Payment for the various size Items, Pipe Duct Constructed by the NDRC
Method, will be at the unit rate per linear metre under the appropriate item of that
size
as
included
in
the Bill
of
Quantitie
s,
which rate shall be considered as full
compensation for
all
the materials, labour, equipment, and appurtenances required
for the construction of
th
e pipe duct constructed by the NDRC method as approved
by the Engineer. No separate measurement and payment will be made for the
geotechnical investigation, site surveys, desigu and engineering analysis, dewatering
system, ground improvement,
all the work associated with the construction
of
entry
and exit pits, and all other work required for the construction
of
the duct constructed
by the NDRC method as described in the
se
Particular Specifications and as directed
by the Engineer. All such works shall be considered as sub
si
diary obligations
to
the
various size Items, Pipe Duct Constructed by the NDRC Method.
17.11.05 PVC Conduit, 4-Way
a General. The Contractor shall supply and in
stall a 4-Way, 100mm diameter PVC
duct bank that is not encased
in
concrete for the length of the project, as detailed in the
Drawings, and as directed by the Engineer. The 4-Way duct bank shall comply with the
requirements of Section 17 Traffic Control System, General Specifications.
The Contractor shall however supply and install a 4-way, 100mm diameter PVC duct that
is
concrete encased,
from
the Road E-20 backbone duct network
to
the ADTMC building
as detailed in the Drawings as directed by the Engineer. The work described herein shall
comply with the applicable Clauses in Section 1702 of the General Specifications.

17.11.06 Install DoT
Type
1 Pullbox Over
Du
Duct
a General.
If
requested by the Department the Contractor sball install a Type I pullbox
over the
Du
ducts in accordance with the requirements of
Du as
directed by the Engineer.
The installation shall include a 2-way, IOOmm , PVC duct bank from the field equipment
cabinet to the Type I pullbox. The installation shall not cause any disruption to the Du
telecommunications network.
b.
Measurement and Payment. Measurement for the item, Install DoT Type I pullbox
Over Du Duct, shall be as the unit item as included in the Bill
of
Quantities, which amount
shall
include all materials, labor, tools, cabling, equipment, and other miscellaneous and
subsidiary costs required for the provision
of
the Type I pullbox over Du Duct. The
measurement and payment for supply of Type I pullbox and 2-way duct bank shall be as
indicated elsewhere in the Bill of Quantities.
17.11.07 DoT 2-Way Duct Link into Du Pullbox
a General. If requested by the Department the Contractor sha ll install a 2-way duct link
into the Du pullbox in accordance with the requirements
of
Du, as directed by the
Engineer. The installation shall include the installation
of
a 2-way,
IOOmm
PVC duct from
the field equipment cabinet pullbox into the
Du
pullbox. The installation sha
ll
not cause
any disruption to the Du telecommunications network.
b.
Measurement and Payment. Measurement for the item, Install DoT Type I pullbox
Over Du Duct, shall be as the unit item as included in the Bill
of
Quantities, which amount
shall include all materials, labor, tools, cabling, equipment, and other miscellaneous and
subsidiary costs required for the provision of the 2-way duct connection into the Du
pullbox. The 2-way duct bank shall be
as
indicated elsewhere in the Bill of Quantities.
17.11.08 Opening Block Conduits and Cleaning Existing Manholes.
a.
General. The Contractor is responsible for clearing any blocked ducts, and
if
required, cleaning the existing manholes/pullboxes from sand,
si
lt, dirt and water on the
proposed cable routes. The Contractor shall arrange all required tools and equipments to
open any blocked conduits that obstruct the laying of the cables. The Contractor shall
util ize a water jet or metal rod or any alternate method to open the blocked conduits, as
approved by the engineer. The Contractor shall be held responsible for damages to any
existing cable runs in the blocked duct, or to any part
of
the duct or pullbox that is caused
by the Contractor s duct-clearing operations.
b.
Measurement and Payment. No separate measurement
or
payment shall be made this
item, unless specifically indicated in the Bill of Quantities. All such works shall be
considered as a subsidiary obligation to the items in the Bill
of
Quantities.
