I believe in the immortality of theatre. It’s the most blissful haven for those who secretly put their childhood into their pockets and hit the road, to keep playing forever until eternity.

2010 the exhibition „Fas-cination Stage“ presented baroque stage technolo-gy and theatres, in additi-on to museum and exhibi-tion concepts by students of the pbsa Düsseldorf and HD Schaal.2013 the exhibition-con-cept „Fascination Theat-re“ discussed the history of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Berlin with all local, national and inter-national influences and impacts in the 250-year history. We work closely with the DTHG.There are collaborations with the Technical Univer-sity Berlin, the Beuth Uni-versity of Applied Scien-ces, training centers and youth theatre projects. We maintain good con-tacts with societies and associations. We lend exhibits from our inventory. We are working on con-cepts for a TheatreMuse-um of the 21st century.

The concentration in the reflection on theatre is currently set on the final performance. The crea-tion process is illuminated at best by science or by professional associations. However, always strictly separated according to disciplines. It ne-ver comes to comprehensive and cross-exami-nation of the whole phenomenon. There are still incomprehensible barriers between theory and practice. This is where the project of a TheatreMuseum has to start. No isolated consideration of the indivi-dual components, but the effort to connect the dots of this extensive complexity, culminating in a performance at the end. The power of a live event isn‘t preservable adequately in a museum. But the long and complex process and the count-less influences that lead to it are! And the effect that emanates from theatre, far beyond the pu-rely artistic aspect,.Thematic aspects that demonstrate the connec-tion and the interplay of apparently incompatible trades must explain individual strongly divergent parameters and conditions to the visitor. Final-ly, this results in an idea of this transdisciplinary universe which is able to produce a subjective meta-level above the curated one. Ideally this comes close to the individual experience of a performance, without 1: 1 documentation. The Initiative sees itself as a mentor for a muse-um of the 21st century, which priority is aimed at lay people and to develop new forms of presen-tation. This could induce more acceptance and respect for the countless theatres in this country.Temporary exhibitions with selective focus should lead to a permanent presence in order to ensure continuous and public-oriented work. To estab-lish a vibrant forum, a focal point for those inte-rested, connected to panel discussions and rese-arch projects in cooperation with various partners is the goal.
