Page 5: Item analysis

STEPSSTEP 1 Count the number of student who answered

question correctly

Award score for each student

Ranking in order of merit

STEP2 Arrange the answer sheet from the highest

score to the lowest score

Page 6: Item analysis

STEP 3 Make 2 groups i.e. highest score In one group and

lowest in one. STEP 4

CALCULATION OF DIFFICULTY INDEX

Higher difficulty index –easier item

D=R/N*100

R =No.of students who answered the item correctly

N=total no.of students who tried them

Page 7: Item analysis

DIFFICULTY LEVEL/FACULTY LEVEL

An index of how easy or difficult the test is from the point of teachers.

Usually expressed in percentage

DIFFICULTY LEVEL= Average on the test/ Max. Possible score*100

Page 8: Item analysis

Difficulty index= H+L *100 NH= No of correct answer to the high groupL= no of correct answer to the low groupN= total no of students in both group

Page 9: Item analysis

STEP 5Estimating discrimination indexFORMULA 1

DI = RU-RL

½ N

RU=no .Of correct responses from upper groupRL=no .Of correct responses from lower groupN= total no of students who tried them

Page 10: Item analysis

FORMULA 2

DI = No . of HAQ - No. of LAQ

No. of HAG

HAQ= no of students in high ability group answering the Question correctly

LAQ= no of students in low ability group answering the Question correctly

HAG= no of students in high ability group

for giving weightage for Objective Content Questions

Page 12: Item analysis

3.PREPARING THE TEST In accordance to blue print Arrange the test items in ascending order of

difficulty Fix norms for grading4.ADMINISTERING THE TEST Test should be administered in an environment

strictly as per instructions planned5. SCORING THE TEST According to principle of validation
