A Note from the Director

When I was approached to join the team of “Breaking Up Is Hard To Do”, I was not that familiar with the show! But once I read the script, I was inspired. Reminiscing to all the songs and music of Neil Sedaka was like spending quality time with an old friend. I dare you not to sing along! It has been an exciting adventure for the entire group and an honor to create and bring this lovely production to all of you.

Auditions offered people of various talents and backgrounds the opportunity to share the experience of trying out for a brand new, seldom-produced musical and through long rehearsals, the chosen actors were melded into this beautiful harmony of skill, imagination, warmth and heart.

Love will bring us together! Enjoy the show!—Lisa Milanes

ACRONYMS/ABBREVIATIONS USED IN THIS PROGRAM

EPILOGUEHarvey and Esther married and retired to Florida. They volunteer their shtick at

the Sunshine Manor in Ft. Meyers. They donate part of their American Bandstand money to a non-profit savings habitat for pink flamingoes.

Marge and Gabe purchased and run the resort. They have 2 children, Ernest and Ginger, who also perform in the shows there. They have beautiful teeth. Marge also works as the town’s Dentist bringing bright smiles to the Catskills.

Gabe still writes songs for Del, who is the headliner replacing Harvey. Gabe no longer “presses pants” for Del, Lois does that. They are married and raising 2 children, Del Monty, Jr. and Sing Out Louise.

The Band still plays at the resort, but only on weekends. With the money they earned, they made good investments and Bob even purchased a chain of retirement homes in North Ft. Meyers.

The Quartet still sing at the resort because they all get free food, a free place to stay, they can still sing all their favorite songs and they look fabulous in pink!

and cultural programs such as ours. Here in the Bay Area, we are fortunate to have many companies that have initiated such programs. Remember, matching contri-butions are not automatic. YOU must notify your employer of your donation, usually at the time you make it. If you are employed by one of these companies and are one of our supporters, take advantage of this wonderful way to support one of your favorite non-profit associations, WVLO. It isn’t too late to match your contribution for this season.

Whenever you donate to a non-profit group like WVLOA, you can double your contribution to the organization by taking advantage of your company’s matching gift program (even after retirement). Perhaps the most popular way for com-panies to make charitable contributions is through a matching contribution pro-gram wherein the company will match, usually one-to-one, the donation one of their employees gives to a favorite char-ity. And often, these companies will only match contributions made to develop arts

WHO’S WHO IN OUR CAST Sean Carson-Hull (Sean “The Pawn”, Del Tones) We welcome Sean back for his third production with WVLO, having just performed in the ensembles of “Sweet Charity” and “Aida” in 2006. Other credits include Simon in “Jekyll & Hyde”, Caifas in “Jesus Christ Superstar”, Grinch in “Seussical”, Bill Sykes in “Oliver”, and understudy for the Prince in “Cinderella”. He hopes to attend the International Culinary School at the Arts Institute to become a chef. We’ll be waiting for that dinner invitation! And since he particularly enjoys singing karaoke, we’ll have music as we dine.Mark Drumm (Harvey) Returning to our stage for his second production with WVLO, regular audience members will remember his ERMA Award-winning performance as Alfred P. Doolittle in “My Fair Lady” last season. Recently Mark has been off the boards and into the Director’s chair, directing a comedy called “Fishing” in SF and prior to that, directing Holiday Memories at Coastal Rep in Half Moon Bay. Mark has just started working toward a teaching credential, with which he hopes to teach High School Biology. As always, he could not perform without the love and support of his wife, Stacy, and son, Lucas. Nestor Fragoso (Del Delmonico) “Nes” makes his debut with WVLO, but is no stranger to this stage, having been part of SBMT’s last year’s “The Producers” team. Other credits also include “Once On This Island” with SCP and as a Fireman and Ensemble in “Ragtime”. He is a student and barista by day and loves his dual life as a performer by night. He is very grateful to his friends for not forgetting about him while he spends all his spare time at the theater. His favorite role was Lun Tha in “King & I” (that was because he enjoyed his first stage kiss!). He has been a teacher for 36 years, earned his BA from SFSU and his Masters from USF. He loves gardening, too, and his future goal is to be in more than one show a year. He sends his love to wife, Patricia, and sons, Matthew and Christopher for their support.

Michael MacKenzie (Stage Co-Manager) This will be Michael’s 32nd production in some capacity or other, mostly as a “regular” backstage crew member. He also has 11 SBMT stage crew credits. Season subscribers might remember his appearances “on stage” as a guest dancer in several ballroom scenes and as Mr. Goldstone in “Gypsy”. His hobby is photography and by day he works as an electronics tech at Simco Electronics. His favorite job is organizing the set changes so he has had a very easy time on this show! Michael Glenn Muñoz (Lighting Designer) Michael “lights up” his 39th production with WVLO and his third this season. He was last seen here as the young Joe Hardy in “DamnYankees” in 2001 and had performed in “Carousel”, “Joseph…Dreamcoat”, “Phantom” and “The Boy Friend” previously on our stage. Her future goal is to become more involved in bigger theatres and get her driver’s license. That’s why she’s so grateful to family

and friends for their encouragement and support, and especially for driving her to all the rehearsals and shows!!

WHO’S WHO ON OUR STAFF Kris Dudley (Co-Producer) Kris first became involved with WVLO in 1989 and has been an integral part of our Association ever since. She has worn many different hats, i.e., dresser, stage crew, props mistress, light board operator, Stage Manager, House Manager as well as Producer and Board Member, joining the Board in 2000. Her favorite productions to date are “Forever Plaid” for which she won the ERMA Award for Best Show in 2003, and the holiday sequel, “Plaid Tidings”. Other productions

to her credit include “Damn Yankees” in 2008, “Wonderful Town”, and “Smokey Joe’s Café”. She has worked on the other shows this season as well; props mistress for both ‘West Side Story” and “Sweet Charity”. Overall she has been involved in over 35 WVLO productions and countless others with SDG/SBMT, SCP and SSTC. By day, she is an Executive Administrative Assistant at Maxim Integrated Products, and is proud to be a block captain for her neighborhood Emergency Response Team. Kris hopes you enjoy this production as much as she has enjoyed the rehearsals!

Sergio Peña (Co-Producer) Sergio became a WVLO Board Member last year and has been very busy in many capacities—stage crew in “Grease”, Assistant Producer for “Plaid Tidings” and “My Fair Lady”, wigs assistant for “Cats”, and even found himself on stage as Jamie in “My Fair Lady”. Other theatrical credits include “West Side Story”, “Hello, Dolly” and “Camelot”. He calls SF “home” and earned his BS degree in Economics from SJSU. He has been an avid learner of all things theatrical and a

Bob Sunshine (Vocal/Music Director) We welcome Bob back to WVLO for his second production as Music Director—the other was “Plaid Tidings” in 2008. He has, however, been playing piano/keyboard in our orchestra pit for “Seven Brides…
