ABCD is all about…

•Identifying and mobilizing the assets of individuals,

especially those who are “clients” of social services

•Building relationships among community members,

especially those that are mutually supportive

•Giving community members more roles and power in

local institutions; citizens lead efforts

•Believing that everyone has gifts and everyone must give

gifts

Now what?

•Relationship Building – Start a neighborhood coalition

•Share the asset map with students and teachers. Have them give you input to additional assets.

•See where there are commonalities (shared goals)

•Collaborate!! Get school officials and assets to talk to one another

•Be patient! Relationships are not built overnight.

Remember:

The #1 reason that people do not get involved is because they are never asked.
