The Listening Campaign
The Listening Campaign
1. What makes our community different from our surroundings?
2. Can you name or tell me about 3 things you like about our community?
3. In your opinion, what are the biggest challenges facing our community?
4. Can you talk about some of the resources in the community that are available to children and youth?
The Listening Campaign
5. Who do you view as important community leaders?
6. In your opinion, what is the most important thing a school can do for a community?
7. What are the three biggest things that you contribute to the community?
8. Who else in the community should we talk to?
Now what?
•Relationship Building – Start a neighborhood coalition
•Share the asset map with students and teachers. Have them give you input to additional assets.
•See where there are commonalities (shared goals)
•Collaborate!! Get school officials and assets to talk to one another
•Be patient! Relationships are not built overnight.
Remember:
The #1 reason that people do not get involved is because they are never asked.
