BLS BCSCC 7 pm lesson 8-11 pm Dance
January-February 2005
Hello fellow Dancers!! I hope you have enjoyed your summer. We have had several great themes at our Wednesday night dances and have more planned for the fall. We hope you come join us. As I have stated many times, dance is a great way to release stress, meet old friends, make new friends and get a little exercise. I work at a computer all day so when Wednesday nights come, I am excited and ready to put on my dance shoes and boogie. I like to dance to all types of music as it challenges me to get outside my comfort zone. I love to dance with as many
It Just Feels So Good… leaders as possible as this, I hope, makes me a better follower. Now, I am challenging myself to learn the leader steps, as there always seems to be more ladies than men. It is a very slow process and I must admit, the leaders have a tough dance role. They must think of the move and the next moves ahead plus keep their partner safe. Followers, we need to be sure and allow the leader to lead. My best tip is to follow the back of the hand, usually our right, ladies. Don’t forget to get your tickets to our clubs 4-day event Oct 5-8.
We’ll see you on the dance floor. Kay Ford, President

Here it is!!
Why I love Little Rock Bop Club: By: Jennifer Hughes When I began my journey into the wide world of dance in 2004,
I was completely unaware of how dance would change my life. I just thought it would be fun to take some dance lessons. I found myself standing amazed at a subculture tucked away in Little Rock as well as cities across the state, country and world. A culture of people with different life histories, work places, religious ideas, social standings, etc., who found a common love of dance. It is a culture of people who gather to celebrate each other no matter their differences.
I have been dancing at the LRBC for over 13 years, and I believe one of the things I love most about the LRBC is the sense of family and community. I have made many lifelong friends, and even met my husband at the LRBC. As in any family, we have our crazies (crazy aunt, crazy uncle, crazy nana . . .), but I believe in our group we pride ourselves on our crazy. I think it’s because, sometimes to step into who you were actually created to be, you have to step out of the chains of the ideas of propriety. Instead, you step into an environment of loving those around you for their differences and end up loving and accepting yourself. I believe the people at the LRBC know how to love and celebrate those around them. The LRBC is truly a great family in which to be a part.
