In the News: Company X

DemandIn 2009 our company faced almost too many challenges to list. In essence, we – and the whole industry – entered the year with one fifth less demand and too much capacity. The speed and magnitude of this change had not been seen before.

Growth MarketsGrowth markets pose social and environmental challenges. They cannot be tackled simply by introducing new technologies, or best practices from Europe. They must be addressed in dialogue between local and global stakeholders, and with an attitude of learning.

ChinaCompany X is focused on China because its rapidly expanding market offers huge demand for our products. Domestic demand in China is forecast to grow by around 4% a year until 2025, further increasing China’s global market leadership.

EconomyIt is true that 75 per cent of the economy of developed countries relies on the service sector and that the direct contribution to employment from science is small. But sectors such as retail, hotels, finance and insurance — depend for their success on a common factor: information technology.
