It began with the letter “F” on the bright orange wings of a Sphinx moth from Venezuela. Nature photographer Kjell Sandved’s Butterfly Alphabet culminates 24 years’ search for a complete set of letters and numbers on the wings of moths and butterflies. Using optical equipment he devised himself, all were photographed without being caught or killed.
