NATURE AT NIGHT When: Friday, May 31

from 5:30—9:30 PM

Who: K—3 grades

(grade just completing)

What: Learn to safely start a campfire, cook your own supper, and experience a guided “night” hike. Parents are welcome to stay

and join us.

Where: Pilot Knob shelter house, 2148 340th Street,

Forest City, IA 50436

Cost: $10, includes supper.

DISH TOWEL CROSS

STITCH When: Friday, June 7

What: Make your very own cross stitch dish towel.

WOODEN WREATH

When: Friday, June 7 from 1:00—3:00 PM

Who: 3—12 grades (grade just completing)

What: Join us in personalizing a 14” wooden door

wreath! You will have a choice of designs.

Where: Hancock County Extension Office

TWINS STADIUM & COMO ZOO When: Monday, June 10

from 7:30 AM—8:30 PM


What: Tour Target Field, home of the Minnesota Twins. Discover the science of baseball and get your turn in the batting cage! Explore the Como Zoo & Conservatory. Como Town amusement park is a pay on

your own option for those who wish to participate.

Where: Meet at Hancock County Extension Office

Cost: $15. Bring your own sack lunch, souvenir money, and money for

fast food supper.

RSVP: Friday, May 31. Space is limited to 40 (2 counties).

WIRE SCULPTURE When: Monday, June 10 and Tuesday, June 11

from 1:00—3:00 PM

Who: 4—12 grades


What: Join local art enthusiast Missy Huling to create a one of a kind wire sculpture. This would be a great visual arts project to take

to the county fair or open show.

MUSIC IN THE PARK When: Wednesday, June 12

from 1:00—2:00 PM

Who: K—5 grades


What: Join Becky Rose and Jenne Sprau for our first ever Music in the Park session. Join us for a musical adventure while we learn from Becky and Jenne and be prepared to have a terrific,

tuneful time!

JUNIOR OVERNIGHT CAMP When: Check in: Sunday, June 16, 6:00 PM Check Out: Monday, June 17,

What: Sleep in tents, cook over a camp

fire, canoe, fish, and swim.

Where: Crystal Lake Park, 1045 320th St.

Cost: $20, includes meals and activities.

What: Join us for an evening to make your own metal masterpiece! We will be

making a horseshoe boot rack.

What: Make your own magazine rack and learn how to use

basic woodworking tools.

What: You’ll be in style this summer with these fun tear drop earrings and pendent that

you design on our Cricut design space.

SCREEN T-SHIRT DESIGN

When: Thursday, June 13, 10:00—11:00 AM


What: Design your own screen print T-shirt. Follow the process from idea, to computer, to print out, to shirt. Learn about all the ways shirts can be made. Winning designs will be picked

or incorporated together to the T-shirt made at the workshop.

Where: Gifts Sew Sweet Print Shop, Britt

Cost: $15, includes T-shirt.

RSVP: T-shirt sizes and designs (if desired) must be submitted by

Friday, May 31 with registration. Space is limited to 20.

LIGHT IT UP When: Tuesday, June 18

from 3:00—4:30 PM

Who: 4—12 grades


What: Learn how to complete

an electrical circuit and make your very own lamp.

Where: Hunt’s Electric, 270 Diagonal St NE, Britt

LEATHER WALLET

When: Wednesday, June 19

from 1:00—2:30 PM

Who: 4—8 grades


What: Make your own wallet using the Cricut

machine. You will leave with a completed project!

BEGINNING PHOTOGRAPHY

When: Tuesday, June 18

from 1:00—2:30 PM


What: Explore Garner and find the perfect shot. End at North Iowa Design to print your favorite picture and have a finished

project for fair.

Where: Start at the Hancock County Extension

Office and pick up at North Iowa Design, 435 State Street, Garner.

Cost: $10, includes printed picture.



STENCIL RUG When: Wednesday, June 19

from 2:30—4:00 PM

Who: 3—12 grades


What: Home sweet home, jazz up any front door with a new personalized welcome mat! You will have your

choice of 3 patterns.

FOIL ART When: Thursday, June 20

from 1:00—3:00 PM

Who: 2-12 grades


What: Foil art will let you create a visual masterpiece using foil and objects. This could be a completed visual arts project at the end of the workshop! Join Missy Huling for this fun filled session and get

creative!

What: Pick your colors and design your own 3D art. This would be an excellent visual arts project for the

county fair.

What: Where there’s bubble wrap there’s fun! During this art in the park session you’ll be painting on bubble wrap to create a colorful masterpiece!

Join us for some bubbly excitement!

BALLOON ANIMALS When: Monday, June 24

Who: 2—12 grades


What: Ever wonder how to make balloon animals? Join us for an exciting afternoon of balloon twisting where you’ll be making a balloon dog and sword. You will bring your creations home with

you, it’ll be a popping good time!

HOW TO FACE PAINT

When: Thursday, June 20

What: Hands on practice with the art of face painting. Get expert tips and learn tricks from local

master, Connie Josten.

What: Spend the day as a doctor, tour the hospital, get your own stethoscope, dress like a surgeon, learn about your

body, and more!

Where: Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt

Cost: $15, includes lunch and snack.

RACE IT, FLING IT, FLY IT

When: Monday, July 1

from 1:00—3:00 PM

Who: 3—6 grades


What: Explore how far, how fast, and how high you can get things moving by creating your own models

and exploring the existing forces.

Where: Municipal building , Britt

SHOWMANSHIP CLINIC When: Tuesday, July 16

from 6:30—8:00 PM

Who: Anyone who is showing

livestock at the fair.

What: Brush up on your showmanship before fair! Come get a few tips and pointers from expert

showman for all species.

Where: Hancock County Fairgrounds, Britt. Each species will practice

in/near their barn.

What: Join us in partnership with the Clear Lake Arts Center for a creative art experiment involving watercolor and salt. This art experiment will center around the Element of Art: Color!

EXPORE IT: DENTIST When: Tuesday, August 13

Who: K—3 grades (grade just completing)

What: Have you ever wondered how dentists see cavities? And how do they fix them? Come find out when Dr. Amy and Dr. Bre from Tesene, Maurer, and Maurer Dental teach you all there is to know about dentistry.

GARNER SUMMER

ARTS PROGRAM When: K—2 grades: Monday, August 5 thru Thursday, August 8 from 1:00—2:00 PM 3—5 grades: Monday, August 5 thru

Who: K—2 & 3—5 grades


What: We are partnering with Clear Lake Arts Center to bring you

the Garner Summer Arts Program. Each day youth will be exposed to a historic artist. We will learn about a variety of different art mediums throughout the week and go home with several artist inspired artworks.


Cost: $20


Space is limited to 25 each session. FIRST LEGO LEAGUE

BUILD AND REFRESH When: Thursday, August 15— Friday, August 16,

from 6:00—8:00 PM

Who: 3—7 grades


What: Build the new mission pieces for the 2019—2020 season, and

freshen up on your coding skills.

Where: Hancock County Extension

Office

Cost: $5

RSVP: Friday, August 9.

Due to the large volume of registrations we receive we have moved to a no refund policy and we kindly ask that you be sure your child can attend an event before completing the registration. If an event is cancelled by Hancock County Extension for any reason such as bad weather or low registration numbers you will receive a full refund.

Many events have waitlists. If you are unable to attend, please call so that those on the waitlist might be able to participate.

Due to the volume of registrations we receive, the registration form along with payment is required in order for registrations to be processed. Registrations will be accepted on a first come basis to Hancock County Extension Office, 327 West 8th Street, Garner.

If your event has already met a capacity limit we will add you to a waiting list for that event. All events are subject to change.

Scholarships are available by request to pay for registration costs.

Who: Anyone exhibiting 4-H exhibits at fair. Get help entering your projects in the new FairEntry system, parents are welcome.

What: Required for Jr. 4-H members. Get a step ahead by visiting with judges to find out what is expected of your exhibit.

FAIR ENTRY DEADLINE When: Monday, July 1, 2019

Who: Anyone exhibiting at the Hancock County District Fair.

What: Fair entries are due each year on July 1. Any entries you are taking to the Hancock County District Fair need to be entered in FairEntry at https://hancockdf.fairentry.com on/before this date.

CONCARD CARE 4-H (Service) When: Friday, July 19, 2019 from 3:00—4:00 PM

Who: Any 4-Her who would like to show exhibits, skits or small animals to residents.

What: Join us in this community service project by bringing the fair to residents at Concord Care Center.
