Climate Impact Company Intra-Seasonal (Week 2-4) Outlook for the U.S.
Issued: Thursday, August 10, 2017
Week 2 Ahead: August 20-26, 2017 (previous forecast below)
Comment: Questions on how warm the Northeast becomes and some forecast
models are warmer than indicated. There’s some dependency on increased tropical
activity in the western North Atlantic to cause a buoyant warm producing ridge
over the Northeast and that issue is in question. The U.S. is generally dry which
could cause an even warmer outlook than indicated. The Great Plains are mostly
dry.

Week 3 Ahead: August 27-September 2, 2017 (previous forecast below)
Comment: Below average forecast confidence on a wet monsoon-induced wet
pattern in the Southwest and Gulf States with warmth and dryness to the north.
Week 4 Ahead: September 3-9, 2017
Comment: Elongating wet pattern South to Mid-Atlantic and still warm Northeast.
