The team also visited Yummy Mozzarella Cheese Factory in Thakurgaon. This cheese factory produces 160-170 Kg of mozzarella cheese per day from 1600 liters of milk. Also produces ghee (comparatively lower quality) as by product from the cheese left over milk.
These visits gave the future action plan for utilizing the large amount of milk that is currently produced by the members of Kazi Shahid Foundation. KSF has taken initiative to construct a mozzarella cheese factory at the new office premise in Dariapara, Panchagarh. This proj-ect will solve the issues regarding milk processing and proper utilization of excessive milk production in Panchagarh.

Nazma Begum is one of the members of Kazi Shahid Foundation who has become successful after a long sufferings and hard times. She got married at the age of 12. Her husband was the only bread earner of the family who worked as a stone labor at Tetulia and his daily income was 400 to 500 taka at that time. Bearing family cost with this little income was very hard for Nazma. Then she came to know about KSF’s dairy farming program from her brother in law. The loan repayment process of the organization seems very help-ful and easy for her.
It was in 2012 when Nazma became member of KSF and received her first cow loan with a calf worth 25000 taka. From that moment she never had to look back to her miserable past. She sold the cow in 40000 taka and
successfully repaid her loan. After taking second cow loan from KSF she sold it in 64,000 taka. Currently she in on her third tenure. She has two cows (one of them is pregnant) and two calves currently worth 2, 50,000 taka. All her cows are hybrid. She gets 15 to 17 liters milk per day from her dairy. Her monthly income is approxi-mately 17,000 taka from the dairy. She and her husband bought agricultural land about one acre, built brick layered building for her family and also the dairy shed. She has also built healthy toilet and bathroom because she wants her family to be healthy. She has planted paddy, corn and other plants in her agricultural land to feed her family and dairy. From here she has approximate 60,000 taka of yearly income. Moreover, when she learned about KSF’s Biogas Program and the benefits of it, she persuaded her family members and installed a fiberglass biogas plant. Nazma Begum plans to use the cow dung for organic farming and to minimize the wastage of cow
dung since she has installed her biogas plant just beside her farming land. She can now feed her family well and take extra care to her dairy. She has one daughter and two sons. Her elder son is currently studying Hon’s, daughter is an SSC candidate and younger one studies in class 5.
Though Nazma Begum could not receive education, she dreams of educating all her children so that they can have better future. All the people from her village praise her success and respect her. She believes that woman has the capability to overcome all the obstacles and social stigmas if she has enough courage and confidence. Women in her surrounding area are encouraged by her success and want to be a successful, courageous and confident dairy entrepreneur, mother and wife like her.
