Happy, Healthy and SafeArya Laungani, Age 8
Namaste! My name is Arya Laungani and I live in Atlanta, Georgia. My mom, Anjeli Gupta Laungani was born and grew up in Buffalo. We visit my grandparents Neeru and Ramji Gupta (Nana and Nani) two to three times every year. During our summer visit for one month, my fi ve-year-old brother Aayan and I love to come to the Mandir and sing bhajans every Sunday. My Nani helps me learn and practice bhajans and she plays the Dholak when I sing during
Children’s Time.
Even though my family goes to the Mandir in Atlanta, I like the Buffalo Mandir very much. I think it is the most special because all the Murtees here are so pretty and there is Sunday Kirtan. I love to
listen to the beautiful music, sing with everyone and play instruments. My mom loves to come back to this temple because she saw this temple from when it was fi rst built and how hardeveryone worked to create this Mandir. I also love that everyone knows each other at the Mandir and if you are new, you introduce yourself. There are many special events at the temple. I enjoy the Havan in the beginning of the month. We have participated in this the last couple
of years. I enjoy watching Panditji do the Havan and I enjoy reading the prayer book.
I love to learn about the Hindu religion. My Nana teaches me about the Hindu deities. He told me that just like we have different people doing different jobs, we have Gods who are experts in different areas. I have learned that Lord Ganesh makes us wise and keeps bad things from happening. Lord Ram teaches us doing what is right. Lord Krishna teaches us how to love and also how to solve problems. Mata Laxmi is the Goddess of wealth. Mata Durga uses her many weapons to destroy evil. She is also Mata Parvati. Mata Parvati is my favorite deity because I am
named after her and she destroys evil.
I pray to God because I need blessings every day. I also pray for everyone in my family. I pray every night before going to sleep. I think praying keeps us out of trouble and helps us stay
protected.
The Mandir in Buffalo is one of my most favorite places. It is a place where all of my family looks forward to going to every Sunday. The people who join us at Mandir are also like family to us. The Mandir is a beautiful place that allows us to pray, sing and start every week happy,
healthy and safe!

Namste all,
On behalf of the HCS Executive committee let me express the deep sense of gratitude to the
devotees who are supporting the Temple. We are half way through the year and are blessed to
have such generous and supportive devotees without whom nothing could be achieved . Even
though this year started with problems including the $11000 shocker, disruption of the water
supply and the required replacement of the back flow preventer, we have still had an excellent
rest of the year so far. Things continue to go extremely well due to the grace of god and the
sincere efforts from volunteers. The go green and zero waste effort is moving forward with
great success, truly serving as a role model for future projects to come. In the coming months
the executive committee is planning to organize many new events including Ganeshotsav, Balaji
Utsav, Maha Chandi Homam, Summer camp, Kruti Parekh show etc. Additionally, with the
temple being over 25 years old, there needs to be maintenance completed to preserve the
integrity of the building. The roof repair is an inevitable fix that needs to be completed before
winter with an estimated cost of $40,000 to $70,000. To further prevent deterioration from the
cold months, the building must also be insulated with appropriate materials like stucco in
consultation with experts. We started the process and the estimated cost for its completion can
be anywhere from $200,000-$400,000 depending on what we decide. All these goals can only
be achieved with the wholehearted support financially and through volunteering with the
realization that the existence of the temple is very important to the our large demographic of
devotees from South east Asia, especially the people from India, ,Sri Lanka, Bangladesh Nepal,
Bhutan and Burma. We request you to provide support, by joining as a member of HCS within
one of the categories listed such, Patron, Booster, Family etc. The membership dues are used to
pay for the building maintenance, utilities etc. If you haven’t yet become a member, please use
the link below to become a member.
