Hello my fellow Chipmunks!

When school comes around we become busy,, over encumbered, stressed, and overworked. This change from summer is that of a semi truck, to a school bus. One thing stays the same. You all still have an amazing connection, to one of the best support groups of all times.

What you must realize is that Key Club may have a main focus on service, but there is so much in that focus. Service stretches way beyond the local can drive. While school may be difficult remember to reach out to those crazy insane amazingly awesome Key Clubbers that you have met.

Division 74 has recently got a major social media update. We have stretched out to Twitter, Tumblr, and a website is in the works. Through all these new opportunities you can keep in contact with others and stay up with the latest Chipmunk related news.

September brings an event joked about at the election rally. While there we were just talking about a benefit concert with a great group, now it is really happening.

Check out pages 12/13 for the design of the ticket and some extra information. Let’s all have a great month!

In love and caring service,

Ben Scranage

The Solution: Pool together the $500 awarded by YOF with $500 the club raised to purchase 544 inexpensive books through Scholastic Inc. Every school day, club

members go to the elementary school, read to children in the classrooms and leave books behind as a donation. “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” by Jeff Kinney is one of the

kids’ favorites.

The Youth Opportunities Fund (YOF) is an endowed fund for Key

Club International held within the Kiwanis International

Foundation. This fund uses earned interest to help

Key Clubs and Key Club members serve

the world by providing grants for service

opportunities. The Youth Opportunities Fund is established through

a portion of your Key Club International dues and through the purchase of G. Harold Martin

Fellowships.

YOF grants can help you take action. Look around and identify the

things that need to get done in your school, community or world.

Project: Key to Literacy

Trenton High School Key Club

Trenton, Missouri

Awarded US$500 in 2010 The Problem: Like most places, Missouri has struggled with slashed education budgets. In the small, impoverished town of Trenton, classroom libraries were stocked with few books and literacy rates were at risk of falling.

Hey Luigi! Have you heard of DCON

2014? It is going to be like the biggest

party of the year!

This isn’t another stupid trick

like when you told me the

turtles were friendly is it?

I promise! Going to this

event is for sure a 1 UP! It sounds good and all,

but so did Bowsers Castle.

What’s in it for me?

You will get to experience one of a

kind leadership training, see amazing

shows, and party in downtown Seattle

with 2,000 other Key Clubbers. Are

those good enough perks?

2,000 Key Clubbers? Where

are we going to fit that many

people!? Koopa Troopa

overload!

That is the coolest part! We will be

in the heart of Seattle in the Seattle

Convention Center and stay at the

Sheraton Hotel!

I feel like I have just had a

power-up! Where can I find

more information on this!?
