Issue 8
Hello my fellow Chipmunks!
Not only have the most recent months brought some of the craziest weather but also some of the greatest needs and greatest achievements ever seen. In these cold months I noticed something. There are people still out there in the cold, wondering where their next meal will be, if they will have a bed this night, if they can survive the cold for the next few hours and most of all, will any one take notice.
This lead me to think of just how lucky we all are here. The simple ability to read this magazine means that you have a computer, a place to sit for more than a few minutes and at least some money. During this season it is time to give back. Right now there is a huge push across all of key club international to raise 1,000,000 dollars by December 31st for The Eliminate Project, many of you know this push as Trick or treat for UNICEF. Right now is the very best time to send in money. If we reach that million dollars just imagine what kind of image that protrudes to the rest of the world. Key club has the power to do this, but first, you have to comply.
The final event coming up soon deals with a very exciting topic! Lieutenant Governor Elections are going to be January 18th at the Eugene First United Methodist Church. This is your chance to lead the division! You will be seeing more and more information on that in the upcoming weeks, but if you are a sophomore or junior, and want to take my job., send me a message through Gmail or Facebook and we can start going through the procedure.
These next few months are incredibly important, don't let the flame of service inside you be put out.
In love and caring service,
Ben Scranage

I have recently attained the position of Service Leadership Programs Subcommittee Member for The Eliminate
Project. This means that I have the chance to communicate with the heads of the project every other
Wednesday. After those meetings I send an Update to International. I will start putting those messages on this
page to KEYp you all up to date!
Partnership Award. TOT
Update
What Gary and I would like
from you
As you have previously heard, the plan for
a new award embracing a partnership
between a Kiwanis club and their SLP has
been put forth
Gary and I have been working on the
details and the general idea is show unity
between the clubs and their slp
More details will come soon, but if you
have any ideas for a catchy title make sure to
send Gary or me an email back!
TOT for UNICEF is doing well with a 10% rise
in revenue obtained during the month of
November
The battle is not over yet. We need your
help to make sure your districts and clubs
know that the hard deadline for TOT funds is
December 31st
We would first of all like to support you if
you have questions about how the project is
doing or where to find resources.
Help to publicize the Facebook, Twitter,
and other social media sites of The Eliminate
Project.
Most of all, help us help you. If there is a
project that needs publicized, or a club that
needs heralded for great landmarks that they
make for The Eliminate Project, be in contact!
Keep promotion of the Project up
throughout the cold winter months. As the
wallets come out and the purses open up the
season of giving is upon us, so make sure to
take advantage of it!

The #imrisingup Campaign was set out
to raise social awareness with a sign that
showed why people were standing up
against slavery. When children are being
taken by the thousands for sex we all have
reason to fight back. This was a way to reach
out to people on an emotional stance,
because we all do have a reason to battle
this horrible occurrence.
If you would like to join the campaign
simply #imrisingup and give a reason then
tag @theredforce after it for a chance to be
featured on Redlight Traffic’s Facebook
page and Instagram.
There are 20 to
30 million slaves
in the world
today.
The average age a teen
enters the sex trade in the
U.S. is 12 to 14-year-old.
Between 14,500 and 17,500 people are
trafficked into the U.S. each year.
Over 71% of trafficked children
show suicidal tendencies.
Human trafficking is a global
phenomenon that is fueled by poverty
and gender discrimination.
Globally, the
average cost of
a slave is $90.
Human trafficking
is the second-
largest organized
crime in the
world.

When big names are talking about
something things start to happen. Hosted by the
famous Matt Lemon from CNN News and

famous names include Bruno Gunn from the new
Catching fire and even the famous Britt Logan.
All of these celebrities and rich people
alike were there for the sole purpose of fighting
what they believe to be a viable disaster. Now that
they gave of their time the media has started to
take notice. With Demi Lovato as RT’s main
celebrity sponsor many have taken the same
pledge that she did, to be a force against evil.
