Community Fun Day

Community Fun Day

On Saturday 22nd June, we held our Community Fun Day. Although the

weather let us down, we managed to squeeze all of our stalls and entertain-

ment into the Music/Drama building.

Eunice Woolcock, star of ITV’s Food Glorious Food opened the day and she

also did a pasty demonstration and book signing.

On the day alone, we raised over £2000 and we still have money coming in

from tuck shops so we haven’t managed to count the grand total yet!

The sports hall was buzzing with people, some brave students even volun-

teered to be sponged!

We must say a huge thank you to all students, staff and parents involved as

well as all of the businesses that donated an item for our raffle.

PSHE Day—Wednesday 3rd July

On July 3rd pupils will be exploring different themes to promote their Personal, Social Health

and Economic Wellbeing. The topics that pupils have been looking at in their PSHE lessons

will be put into action with the help of several external guests.

Year 7 will be working with local Police officers and Dreadnought to see the real life impact

of arson attacks in our local area and the impact of cyber bullying and how these issues are

policed. Year 7s are to wear their PE kit.

Year 8 are completing their Environmental Enterprise task and are working with the Surfers

Against Sewage team at Perranporth Beach. This is a part of Ben Fogal’s National Spring

Beach Clean project. Year 8s are to wear their own clothes.

Year 9 will focus on the theme Future. All Pupils will meet with a Careers South West repre-

sentative to start thinking about how they will create a CV that can truly represent them.

Mental Health, and Relationships and Sex education will also be explored on this day with

an assembly from the NHS Company, Brook.

Year 9 are to wear school uniform.

Year 10 will also explore the complex dilemmas surrounding relationships, with the Brook

Bitesize programme complimenting lessons led by tutors. Yoga sessions will be attended to

help pupils consider ways of dealing with stress and all pupils will complete their Work Safe-

ty certificate as well as starting their work experience logs books. Year 10s are to wear

their school uniform.

Results:

The U13 & U15s Girls Cricket team took part in an outdoor competition,

which was held at Camborne Cricket pitch.

The U13s improved with every match they played. Star Player of the day

was Britney Pearson (Yr8).

The U15s won all their matches, beating Truro, Camborne and Helston

School, to name just a few and qualified to play in the final at “The Corn-

wall School Games”, which Pool Academy is jointly hosting on Friday 28th

June 2013.

PE News

Sports Awards Evening

Monday 8th July - PE Sports Award Evening with guest speaker Cassandra

Patten. Cassandra has represented Great Britain and in the 2008 Summer

Olympics won a bronze medal in the 10km open water swimming event. She

currently lives in Liskeard as she sadly had to retire from swimming due to an

ongoing shoulder problem.

County Junior Golf Title

Harry Hall has retained his title as the Cornish Junior

Golf Champion. He played in the Junior County Champi-

onship along with 53 other juniors at a windy but dry St

Austell course. The 36 hole event saw Hall follow up a

morning 74 with a 72 for a total of 146 to win by six

shots.

U16 and U18 players and Harry’s score was enough to

win both prizes. The U16 category saw Harry finish sec-

ond.
