Dear Lawson Public School Parents and Carers, Artist in Residence Program Many thanks to our fantastic P&C for the very generous contribution of an Artist in Residence Program here at Lawson. Beth Norling is a freelance illustrator, author and designer with 30 years of experience, her work includes but is not limited to print media, fiction & non-fiction, children's books, book covers, animations, signage, murals, business branding, retail design & display, websites/blogs, personalised gifts, flat pattern design & cards. We look forward to Beth joining us next week. How exciting! Student Leadership In week 7 of this term, students in year 5 will be given the opportunity to become school leaders (captains/Vice Captains) for 2020. Students can be nominated and/or self-nominate for the position. Details on the procedure are in our student welfare policy and will be provided to students by the end of the week. In Week 6 Lawson Public School will be involved in Recycling week. Students will make

containers to recycle household batteries.

Could each student please supply a container with a lid such as a 500g or 1Kg yoghurt tub,

honey bucket, formula tin etc…to their classroom by Friday 15th November, 2019.

Week 6 will also be “nude food” which means all students will try to reduce the amount of plastic

wrapping in their lunch box and will be involved in activities around recycling at school.

Stage One Pink have been learning about maps in English, Geography and Mathematics. Students have taken on the role of a town planner, they designed and constructed the perfect town. They had to identify and use aspects of infrastructure and community needs when designing and constructing their 3D models.

We couldn’t find Max on Halloween. There was only this

school instead.

Patrick from CC Yellow has inspired us to look at Spiders for our new literacy topic – informative texts. His drawings are amazing.

“It’s another wonderful day” is a beautiful quote from Mrs Pratt’s room as CC Blue go through their regular yoga routine with

Mrs Hansen.

Welcome to 2019 Lawson P&C

Our next P&C meeting will be held on Tuesday 19th November

7pm in the Staff Room. If you are looking at getting more involved in

the school and think that you would like to take on a roll within the

P&C, please join us in the staff room. Everyone is welcome.

magpie markets

The P&C will continue to run the Magpie Markets this year, and look

forward to working with you to continue making it our most successful

fundraiser – raising money towards supporting and enhancing our

children’s education.

The next market for this year is on 17th November. The classes

allocated to help on the BBQ for this month are S2 Aqua and S2

Violet.We would greatly appreciate help from all families.

Rosters will be provided closer to the

date. However, please put the date in

your diary now, so that you can be

prepared.

When you receive your roster, please let

the contact person know whether you

can help at your allocated time or not.

uniform shop The Uniform Shop will operate on a fortnightly basis.

Should you require any items urgently please obtain a uniform order

form from the office.

Raising Kin is a support group for grandparents, relatives and kinship carers who care for

a child who is a relative. This group meet on the first Wednesday of the month during

school terms. Come along to meet others who are the primary carers of a grandchild,
