MESSAGE FROM THE EDITOR

Dear Key Clubbers, Hey guys! This month we’re starting Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF! It’s an event to raise money for the UNICEF project to help children in need. Ask us at the meetings for more deats! This month’s DCM will be on October 25th @ the Chinatown Community Center. It’ll be a Halloween-themed event so dress appropriately. Be sure to join the DCM event page on Facebook and keep a lookout for new events on the GHS Key Club page as well. In other news, the blood drive is at the end of this month and if you need forms ask BSU or a Key Club officer for the necessary forms! Make sure to register; it is now $16! Hope to see y’all at the meeting or stop on by and say hi!

This year Key Club and BSU are teaming up to help out the

blood drive! Are you skeptical about donating blood? Scared

because it’s your first time? Here are some facts to keep in mind when deciding to donate:

Blood DRIVE

The actual donation takes

about 5-15 minutes; the rest of

the time is for hydrating yourself

(plus, free snacks!)

900 people DAILY require blood

in Western Washington alone

Every pint donated can help

save up to 3 lives!!

Additional requirements:

o Must be 114lbs (male) or

125lbs (female) if under

the age of 18 (minimum

age to donate is 16)

o Must EAT a hearty meal &

DRINK plenty of fluids

24~48 hours prior to

donating

Donate on October 30th in the gym. Ask officers of Key Club or BSU for the forms!

DCM! Garfield High School will be hosting this month's DCM!

We will be having a Halloween-themed cookie

decoration competition. Also, wear your costumes

because there will be a costume contest!

Looking for 20-30 volunteers. At this family-friendly costumed carnival, help give back to the community by running interactive mini carnival games!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Halloween Spookyfest and

Winter Wonderland Baking

Leader: Carmen Phu and Cindy Lam We need people to help bake cupcakes for these two event (around 12 dozen cupcakes per event)! Materials will be provided (except for eggs) and you will also get hours for baking! Make sure to customize the cupcakes according to the even to make it more fun and enjoyable for the children! TRICK OR TREAT FOR UNICEF

UNICEF has helped save more children's

lives than any other humanitarian

organization.

What is it?

Fundraising to save children in

need; thousands of children under

the age of five die every day

because they lack proper nutrition,

safe drinking water, affordable

vaccines, and other basic

necessities.

UNICEF’s lifesaving intervention

have helped reduce the

number of child deaths by 50%

since 1990
