On Thursday, May 12, our Los Banos Tigers track and field team competed at the Western Athletic Conference Championships. The meet was at Golden Valley High School, and the two hosts were El Capitan and Livingston. With the weather being so hot, the sun was draining all the energy out of the athletes. “It hasn’t been this hot all season.” said Desiree Munoz, a varsity sprinter. The top three finishers in each event qualify for sub-sections, and our Tigers have several talented athletes who made it. Freshman Leslie Hernandez (2nd) and Alyssa Catalan (3rd) both qualified for the mile run. Mikayla Akers qualified the 100m(3rd),

200m(1st), and the 400m(1st). In the field events, Monica Moreno took home a second place win in the pole vault and she also qualifies for sub-sections. The boys 4x1 relay team just fell short for first place, but they took home second and also qualified. Adam Herrera qualified for the 100m(2nd) and the 110 hurdles (3rd). Jensen Chase, with a big PR qualified for the 2 mile (2nd). Sub-sections will take place Tuesday, May 17 at Stanislaus State. Good luck Tigers!

Seniors Go Out with a Bang-quet By Alondra Arias

Los Banos had a flooding

during the night on a May 6,

2016. Mother Nature has

dropped 0. 94 inches, which is

a large amount of water

because we were in a drought,

so we actually needed water.

Tips to succeed during Finals By: Maria Gonzalez

With finals creeping around the corner everyone is wondering how to study, freaking out about how if they will even get any sleep, and most importantly going crazy about acing their final. I have listed ten things below, which typically helps me get through finals, hopefully this works for you as well.

1. Make Sure You Ask Questions Asking questions benefits yourself and any other classmates who are too afraid to ask. You need to know understand the material in order to study it. 2. Take Breaks! I think this is the most important thing to do when studying is to take short breaks. You don't want to overwhelm yourself; your brain can process a certain amount of information. 3. Stay Healthy I cannot stress how important this is besides taking breaks. Most people think to survive their finals week they need a whole bunch of caffeine as well as little to no sleep. 4. Make A Study Group To be in a study group you can't horse around during this time, the group needs to be totally concentrated on studying. A study group will benefit you because you all will be able to explain things differently and hopefully understand them better. 5. Take Your Time Lastly but not any less important is timing yourself. Do NOT procrastinate, it will only hurt yourself and maybe even your grade, but do take your time on studying everything to keep your stress levels down. Not everyone studies the same.

California State University: Channel Islands By: Kelsey Biggs

CSU Channel Island is located in Camarillo, California. Camarillo is on the California coast and is only an hour away from Santa Barbara. CSUCI is one of the newer universities in California. The architecture is beautiful and is set up like a mission. This school is known for their Business, Psychology, and Social Science programs. Not a lot of first-time students live on campus, this campus is known for all their commuting students. Before this school was built, it used to be a mental hospital back in the 90’s. Most people believe that the campus is haunted, because of its cold rooms, and weird paranormal activity in the dorms. I understand now, why students don’t want to live on campus. Aside from the “haunted grounds,” California State University Channel Islands has great opportunities for young students to prosper in their careers.

The new steakhouse in town happens to come up as the best food in town from many different people. If you like to go into a nice place, with great service and reasonable prices then this would be a good place to go if you are in the area. Also asking around, and checking to see if any of your friends have tried it, might give you a better idea if you would like to go because word of mouth is about the best advertisement for something.

The only thing about this new place in town is that it is only open from 5pm-9pm. So you are not able to go and enjoy a good meal whenever you are feeling some good steak. Saving your appetite might just be well worth it when it comes to this place. Their reviews happen to be very good and have not yet been talked about negatively. Going out and trying it should be in your agenda because I’m sure you will not be disappointed. New places to eat in Los Banos Are good because there is not much of a variety besides the typical fast food places. Go out and try it.

Wing Stop coming to town! By Megan Hernandez They have established the plans for bringing a Wing Stop here to our town Los Banos CA. It’s going to be located in between T-mobile and Nail Now. There isn't a set date for the start of modeling it or when it will be finished but I don't believe it will take too long! I like the fact that we’re getting something new and different. Many people say they love Wing Stop. I’ve heard that their food is really good so I’m super excited to try it. I personally love wings!

I am a security guard. I was new this year.

Aries (March 21-April 19)

The most important idea, project or concept of the year rolls in the second half of May. Try not to let personality

politics affect this. Taurus

(April 20-May 20) The secrets you keep, the role you play behind the scenes

or even more mysterious matters now require a willingness to give way.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

Friends and groups are still changing, as they were in April, and you will need to divide rights, roles and

responsibilities in a fair way. Cancer

(June 22-July 22) Nothing is firm, fixed, finished or final with your friend, and

the group which connects you – so be flexible with your plans in May.

Leo (July 23-August 23)

In May it’s all about the group – and your friendship. Stick to feminism. The sisterhood sees you through.

Virgo (August 23-september 22)

You have already relaunched yourself once in recent

months and your second relaunch will begin at any point. Libra

(September 23-october 22) Your relationship with your former, current or potential partner (even your enemy) will teach

you about compromise this month. Scorpio

(October 23-November 21) You will have to do things very differently in

terms of your work and housework this month. Roster the time, roles or responsibilities.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

You will be promoted, win an award, land a wonderful job or nail a substantial project by

September if you start your engine now. Capricorn

(December 23- January 20) A new arrangement, which involves give and

take, will permanently alter your family, house, apartment, household, town or country.

Aquarius (January 20-February 18)

A project, website, book, concept or plan will turn into a carve-up but you can gain by

showing you are willing to meet others halfway. Pisces

(February 19-March 20) Your former, current or potential partner offers you fantastic room for improvement and hope for the future from May onwards.
