I Remember that faithful day

When our started to blink away

We were told the news of Shaul’s death

By the awful son of the Amaleki who took away our breath

He told us the story that happened to him

When Shaul asked to kill him so didn't have to sin

He also told us the bad news

That Shaul’s sons didn't get rescued

David to fall to the ground in anguish

After hearing the bad news the would not make the Jews

‘holiness’ extinguish,

He ordered Doeg the Edomi to be killed straight away

Because of the things he did and displayed

After killing Shaul he did deserve to pay

So none should think to copy him—no way!

When the news reached Kings Shaul’s palace that the

Pelishtim had won everyone ran in panic afraid the Pelishtim

would come to them in the tumult, MifiBoshes was being held by his nanny who was

running, she by mistake dropped him causing him to

become lame in one foot

The King’s Best Recipes Mimi Cohen

King Dovid’s Best Babka Parev Directions

1. In a bowl of a mixer fitted with a dough hook, dissolve the

yeast in water with a bit of sugar. After yeast has bubbled, add

the remaining dough ingredients. Mix well until dough is

smooth. Cover and allow rising for 1 hour

2. To prepare the filling, combine all ingredients in a small bowl,

set aside.

3. To prepare topping, mix ingredients by hand to form coarse

crumbs.

4. Preheat oven to 350F. Grease 3 1-LB loaf pans

5. To assemble Babka, divide dough into 3 pieces, Work with 1

piece at a time. Roll out the dough to double the length of the

pan (about the size of a baking sheet) and smear with oil.

Spread 1/3 of the chocolate filling over the dough. Roll up

jellyroll style and pinch ends closed. Fold the roll in half and

twist 3 times. Transfer to loaf pan. Brush with beaten egg.

Sprinkle the streusel topping over the entire roll. Repeat with

remaining 2 pieces of dough.

6. Bake for 1 hour

1. Cream together yokes and icing

sugar,

2. Add lemon juice and Parev whip.

3. Pour into base and freeze over

night.

4. Beat Egg whites and castor sugar

5. Spread over frozen pie

6. Put under hot grill for 1 minute or

till egg whites go slightly brown

Alon is just a regular boy who works for King Dovid; his job is to deliver food to Dovid‟s army daily so that Yoav and his solders will have energy to fight. Before we start the story let‟s go and look how King Dovid‟s general Yoav is related to King Dovid, Yoav is one of three brothers, there is Yoav, Avishai and Esha‟el, their mother is Tzurya who is Dovid‟s sister, so Yoav is Dovid‟s Nephew. Going back to the story, the other day Alon did his daily rounds, Yoav and his army were a few minutes away for Brichas Givon they invited Alon to join them for a bit as they had a very interesting speaker, giving them a lecture. So Alon travelled with them for a bit and as they reached Brichas Givon, they met the solders of king IshBoshes together with their general Avner, the two sides are not best of friends, because of the situation of who should be king, but they learned to get along with each other. Being a boy, Avner wanted to prove that his army is stronger, so he suggested a play fight, Yoav agreed to the idea as he also wanted to show that his army is stronger So 12 men from the side of IshBoshes and 12 men from David‟s side lined up faced to face and when they shouted go, they each took hold off each other and tackled each other, however the problem was that all the men were of equal strength so all sides died. All this is happening while Alon is watching from the side-lines, before Alon could blink it the whole play fight had turned into a full blow battle.

Suddenly Yoav‟s brother Esha‟el starts chasing Avner, Esha‟el was as fast as a deer so he kept Avner on his toes, Avner turns around, and because he is running so fast he can‟t really see who‟s chasing him, he thinks it is Esha‟el but he‟s not exactly sure, so he asks, „is that you Esha‟el?‟ to which Esha‟el confirmed that it, Avner tells Esha‟el to stop chasing him, because if he didn‟t stop chasing him he would unfortunately have to kill Esha‟el, Avner tells him to grab hold of a boy so he wouldn‟t be embarrassed, and then Avner wouldn‟t have to C‟‟V kill Esha‟el. Esha‟el refuses to listen to Avner and continues to chase him; Avner pulls out his sword and stabs Esha‟el in the 5th rib, causing him to die immediately, Baruch Dayen Ha‟Emes. Yoav hears that Avner killed his brother Esha‟el and he and his brother Avishai start chasing Avner, the men of Binyamin hear and come to help, eventually they meet with Avner who is on the top of one mountain and Yoav, Avishai and Shevet Binyamin are on the top of the mountain opposite, Avner calls to Yoav “Will you forever live by your sword?” and Yoav tells him to take a long walk off a short peer he started this whole war by suggesting a play fight! In the end Yoav blows a shofar to indicate that the war has ended, Avner returns to Machanayim and Yoav and Avishai after burying Esha‟el return to Chevron after burying Esha‟el in Beis Lechem. After watching the turn of events a very shocked Alon returns to Chevron along with Yoav‟s army. How depressing, how sad.
