Systems Engineering (SE)

• We practice SE to Reduce the Risk of:

– Cost/Schedule Overage

– Building the Wrong System

• ITS Architecture is the first step of SE

ITS Architecture is a Consensus Institutional Architecture

• Needs and Services to meet the needs

• Stakeholders:

– Their Roles and Responsibilities and

– Their ITS Elements

• Information Flows between ITS elements to do services

• ITS Standards selected to encode the information flows

• ITS Element Functional Requirements to issue and receive the information flows

• Agreements required between ITS stakeholders

• Technology Neutral

• Must be a Consensus ITS Architecture

and Analysis

This MP monitors occupational road risk through maneuver specific risk analysis. The objective is to give drivers feedback about safety quality attributes of their driving both in real-time and offline.

The Vehicle based OBU processes sensor data to estimate “driver safety level” and present this in real time to the driver. The OBU also sends the “monitoring data” to a Fleet Safety Management Center that prepars “driver safety reports” on demand from a Fleet Safety Manager Reporting System for drivers and managers to review.
