Magog stem

In British mythology, Magog was one of a race of giants spawned by immigrant daughters of a Roman Emperor and native demons. This warrior’s infamy has survived the ages since he roamed the then desolate Albion that he called his home. The Gusset Magog stem embodies some of the strength and ferocity shared by the ancient brute that is its namesake. Designed in-house by riders, the stem features strategically placed cutouts to increase strength-to-weight ratio and reduce bar-slip.

So what’s in a number ?Reynolds (Birmingham) introduced their exclusive 853 Steel material in 1995. The strength to weight ratio of 853 is equal to that of quality titanium. Gusset exclusively use UK made Reynolds 853 tubing for the Woodstock series cranks.

The Kings is the perfect ‘Sunday morning’ steed The Reynolds 853 tubing used for the main tubes of the Kings was carefully selected amongst many for its resilient yet effi cient ride properties. All frames are hand built by craftsmen using a traditional lugged and brazed construction. The inclusion of brazed downtube shifter mounts provides the option to fi t down tube gear levers or alternatively cable stops to facilitate the use of modern dual control levers such as Campagnolo Ergopower. The classic Sharp lines and lug defi nition are retained by using a wet paint system in preference to the often used powder coated fi nish and the classic panel type graphics remain faithful to the style of a 1960’s/1970’s racer. The frameset includes Genetic threaded headset, quill stem and seatpost.

T he Light Blue Bicycle began its life way back in 1895, when John Albert Townsend produced hand built bicycles for the wealthy members of Cambridge University. These custom made machines were produced in a converted dairy in Norfolk Street, Cambridge at a rate of around six per week. The Light Blue name was taken from the World famous University “colours”.

John made his own Track bike with a custom made 100 tooth chainwheel to celebrate the turn of the Century in 1900. his original Light Blue bike, built in 1900, remains in possession of the family today.

Light Blue may not have been the biggest brand in the 20th century, but, certainly, there is a 115 years of heritage that very few brands can only ever dream about achieving.

With 115 years of heritage, good design, premium materials and high attention to details… the “sleeping beauty” of Light Blue Bicycles is destined to awake…

Parkside

The Parkside is named after the attractive Park area at the Centre of and brings the concept of a roadster into the 21st century with a tough yet lightweight aluminium frame combined with the timeless quality of a Sturmey Archer AW 3 speed internal hub gear.

The Passport Upper Class saddle has been carefully selected by us to provide the greatest level of comfort for the user and the Passport handlebar grips have an ergonomic shape to reduce pressure points around the palms. Supplied complete with prop-stand, rear carrier, and mudguards for year round weather protection. Tough, puncture resistant tyres complete the package.

Gents frames are available in 21” or 23” and Ladies versions are 17”, 19” and 21” measured centre to top.

Chesterton

The Chesterton is named after another area of Cambridge in which Mr. Ison established his bike shop in 1893, selling “New Chesterton bikes”. The Chesterton’s push-button derailleur gears provide a wider range of ratios than the Parkside for those who may wish to venture further afi eld and they are lighter.

The nutted wheels were chosen in preference to the quick release type as they are more secure when parked in public places. The mudguard stays are terminated in sleeves to reduce the likelihood of injury and the chainguard helps to ensure that your clothes are protected from the chain.

All Frames in the Chesterton and Parkside range are sized centre to top and the gents versions are 21” and 23”. The ladies version is available in 17”, 19” and 21” sizes.

Light Blue City Bikes were designed and manufactured to provide quality, simple and usable bicycles for the “Cycle City” of Cambridge, (without all the fuss and hype that many other makers add without thinking why… e.g. Do you really benefit from having 24 gears, quick release wheels and suspension forks in the city?)

Light Blue City bikes do however incorporate many small details that customers will perhaps only appreciate the benefits of once they own and ride a Light Blue (such as Stainless Steel spokes, and box section rims).

Carbaura Carbon Road Clinchers

The Carbaura’s have been brought on stream to answer the increasing demand from sportive riders looking for superior levels of comfort and durability.

We chose a structural design for the Carbaura rims over one that uses the carbon part purely as a fairing for aerodynamic gain as the resultant shorter spokes on our wheels create less vibrational noise and are less susceptible to sending the wheel out of true should a spoke break. 38mm, 50mm or 58mm.

The 20 front and 24 Halo Aero spokes laced to Halo Spin Master hubs in a 2 and 3 cross pattern respectively, are ultra light and provide a degree of compliance that benefi ts comfort levels over poor road surfaces. The Carbaura’s are available with either Campagnolo or Shimano freehubs.
