Hull “ blackening” every 4 years……finally there was a dry spell in 2012 when Islaybelle was taken out of the water for 5 days and the hull cleaned and re-blackened.

During that time I was still living on board with access by ladder!

Building a conservatory…I built a wooden frame from 2”x 2” (B&C), installed it(D) ,then cut plexiglass which was secured to the frame and incorporated a removable front pane(E, F & G)…

Conservatory and lounge…

I used modern stained glass panels and replaced the two small original full wood doors…

Rear entrance cover part 1…

Originally the stern entrance was under a low level canvas which was inconvenient …

With a bit of creativity I converted a pickup truck canopy fitted with wheels to permit its movement along the roof of the boat …

Rear entrance cover part 2…I used cotton sheets to create a template to then cut marine canvas which was professionally stitched…

The stern entrance to Islaybelle is through a full length zip fastening in the canvas on the port and starboard sides. The canvas is removable as it is attached to the “pick-up canopy” by sprung chrome twist locks …

Islaybelle in June 2015…

A car roof box was added to permit convenient storage of items for winter use. The name was finally painted using a stencil I prepared from acetate sheets and now includes the Stag head logo in red …
