Allah (SWT) had obtained some clay from allparts of the earth; He soaked this clay andmolded it according to His designs andshaped the figure of a human. This clayfigure was set aside in full view of the angelsand the Jinn for forty years.

ALLAH BREATHES LIFE INTO ADAM

When came the time to breathe His spirit into the human figure, Allah (SWT)assembled all the angels and Commanded, “When I breathe My spirit into him, prostrate before him.” Allah (SWT) Blew His spirit towards Prophet Adam (AS).When the spirit touched his head, Prophet Adam (AS) sneezed, and said whatthe angels had taught him to say, “All praise belongs to Allah.” Prophet Adam(AS) repeated, “All praise belongs to Allah.” Allah (SWT) replied with thisprayer: “Your Lord has Granted you mercy.” As the spirit progressed andreached the eyes, Prophet Adam observed the fruits of Paradise. When itreached the abdomen, Prophet Adam (AS) craved food. Before the spirit hadprogressed through him, Prophet Adam (AS) abruptly jumped and pounced onthe food.

“Man is a creature of haste: soon enough I willshow you My Signs, then you will not ask Me tohasten them.” (Quran: 21/37)

PROPHET ADAM MEETS HAWWA!

Prophet Adam (AS) entered Paradise and resided therein. As the time elapsed,Prophet Adam (AS) desired a companion of his own nature. One day ProphetAdam (AS) awoke from sleep And found another human form lying close to himand looking at him. It was Hawwa (EVE). Stunned by this presence, ProphetAdam (AS) questioned her about herself and the reasons of her presence. Hawwa explained that she had come from within him! This surprised Prophet Adam (AS). Hawwa elaborated that Allah (SWT) hadCreated her from one of the ribs of Prophet Adam (AS), and that she wascreated due to his prayers and desires for a partner. She had joined him for hispleasure as per the decree of Allah (SWT).

Glory be to Allah, Who created in pairs all things that earthproduces, as well as their own (human) kind and (other)things of which they have no knowledge. (Quran: 36/36)

SATAN INCITES ADAM AND HAWWA!

Meanwhile Satan, an open and sworn enemy of the humanity in theuniverse, offered all forms of temptations and seductions to misleadProphet Adam (AS) and his wife, Hawwa, to approach and eat the fruitfrom the forbidden tree. He used to whisper suggestions to both of them. Satan said, “Your Lord prohibited you the fruits of this tree, to preventyou from becoming angels or everlasting immortals.” Then Satan made afalse oath in the name of Allah (SWT) and assured both of them, “Surely,I am one of the sincere well-wishers for you both.” Satan was aware that the amalgam that had made the species of theHuman was of the nature that no one would ever be willing to give uptheir youth and offer their souls for extraction voluntarily to die. Therefore, Satan was most consistent in his approach and wouldregularly whisper in the ears of Prophet Adam (AS): “O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to thekingdom that never decays?” (Quran: 20/120)

SATAN OVER-POWERS ADAM AND HAWWA!

Satan was assuring them that if they ate the fruit from the prohibitedtree, it would only maintain their youth and vitality and at the same timeit will make them immortals: they would never die! Satan added thatwas the sole reason why both of them had been prohibited from eatingthe fruits of that tree. Satan had always declared to be their faithful anda sincerely honest guide. Thus, Satan continued to mislead them withdeception. Prophet Adam’s (AS) and Hawa’s inner desires urged themto live forever in the perpetual gardens of Paradise until their heartcould no longer resist the false temptation of being so close to thesource of the youthful immortality and not grasp it! Their hearts kept onurging them to eat it; Thus, over powering the decay of their bodiesand their eventual death.

Prophet Adam (AS) plucked the fruit, ate a morsel of it, andgave the rest to Hawwa who consumed the balance.

Both of them were ashamed and attempted coveringtheir private parts with leaves from the tree. And then Allah (SWT)Called upon them,” Did I not forbid you that tree? And warned you thatthe Satan is an open enemy for you?”Prophet Adam (AS) bowed down in prostration, tearfully cried, andbegged Allah (SWT) for forgiveness.

“Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. IfYou Forgive us not and Have no Mercy onus, surely we are of the lost." Quran: 7/23)

Why have youraised me up blind, while I had sight before?” Allah willSay: “Thus did you, when Our Signs came to you, disregarded them: so will you, this day, be disregarded.”And thus do We recompense him who transgressesbeyond bounds and does not believe in the Signs of hisLord: and the Penalty of the Hereafter is far more grievousand more enduring.” (Quran: 20/122-127)

THE FIRST HUMAN MURDER!

“Recite to them the truth of the story of the two sons of Adam.Behold! They each presented a sacrifice (to Allah (SWT)); it wasaccepted from one, but not from the other. Said the latter: “Besure I will slay you." Surely,” said the former, “Allah accepts thesacrifice of those who are righteous. If you stretch your handagainst me to slay me, I shall not stretch my hand against you toslay you: for I do fear Allah, the Cherisher of the Worlds. For me Iintend to let you draw yourself, my sin as well as yours, for youwill be among the Companions of the Fire, and that is theReward of those who do wrong.” The selfish soul of the other ledhim to the murder of his brother: he murdered him, and becameone of the lost ones. The Allah sent the raven, which scratchedthe ground, to show him how to hide his shame and his brother.“Woe is to me!” said he, “was I not even able to be as this raven, and to hide the shame of my brother?” Then he became full ofregrets”. (Quran: 5/27-31).
