History• A mosque is a house of prayer in Islam and symbolically very

important to Muslims. The first mosque was built in Mecca, meaning the area that surrounds the Ka’ba, “the most holy shrine. Muhammad was the founder of the religion of Islam, and is regarded by Muslims as a messenger and prophet of God.
