Corazon Island

It is a natural reserve that protects two islands with 800 hectares of mangroves,

the main islands are the Corazon island, Fragatas and the Island of the Sun.

It is located on the estuary of the Chone River near the cities of San Vicente and

Bahia de Caráquez.

The climate of the island ranges between 25°C - 30°C throughout the year, its

annual precipitation is less than 500 mm.

What to do

Observation of the biodiversity of flora and fauna that produces the island.

has a wooden path that allows the entrance into the mangrove by means of a short

walk of 400 meters where the tourist will be able to experience a unique natural

environment.

The large number of birds is another major attraction here is referred to one of the

largest frigate colonies of Latin America . has (91 species of birds), including marine

and aquatic species.

tunnels of mangrove.

Santa Clara Island

Location

It is located in the entrance of the Gulf of Guayaquil at 43 kilometers to the west of

Puerto Bolivar, in Jambelí (El Oro)

Extension

five hectares on land and two nautical miles around the islands and islets.

Weather

Its climate is warm tropical and is influenced by the sea currents.

What to do The place is not inhabited by people, but sometimes some tourists visit it,

since is appropriate for the observation of seabirds and shorebirds.

The high degree of erosion of their land prevents the development of

tourism, so that the sightseeing is done from the boats.

You can go only by waterway from Puerto Bolivar and Puerto Pitahaya. There

are islands near Santa Clara where tourism has been developed.

This type of flora is typical of the tropical desert environments of the northern and

southern coast of the Gulf of Guayaquil.

It has four species of mammals, 29 birds, four species of reptiles and 37 of

invertebrates.

make beach tourism, do bird watching and a

panoramic view from the different viewpoints.

In the San Vicente Beach you can enjoy a rich

and varied gastronomy based on seafood.
