God is Unique

1st John 1:5
"O Lord, my God, my Holy One . . . Your eyes are too pure to approve evil, and you cannot look on wickedness with favor."
- Habakkuk 1:12-13
God’s Wrath
• His settled opposition to sin.• His divine revulsion to evil.• The only possible response from
a Holy, Holy, Holy God!
Num. 20:12 - "Because you have not believed Me, to treat Me as holy in the sight of the sons of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them."
Sin’s Effect
• Sin separates from God (Isa. 59:1)• Sin brings God’s wrath (Rom. 1:18)• God is a “consuming fire” (Heb. 12:29)
Yet, we are called to be
Holy!
God’s Desire for the Church
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light."
-1 Peter 2:9
God’s Desire for the Church
We are to be like HIM!
How Can We Be Holyas He is Holy?
We are made holy in Jesus Christ!
We are then called to a life of holiness!
We are called to be holy2 Cor. 7:10 - “Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."
Rom. 12:1 - "I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship."

1st Peter 1:13-16 - “Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”
How do we remain Holy?
• 1st John 1:7 - "If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus His son cleanses us from all sin.“
• 1:9 - "If we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
We must strive for holiness!
• It does make a difference how we live our daily lives.
• God does take note of our sins.• He expects us to exercise self control.
Holy! Holy! Holy!
Is the Lord GodAlmighty!
