The PILOTNEXT> LINE offers architectural solutions,each one optimized for a specific type of applicationscenario:

� PILOT H4 NEXT> is a horizontal solution,available in manual or automatic version. Completelycompliant with the SMEMA protocol, ensuring completeautomation of the in-line test process. It has anarchitecture which permits the integration of additionalpins and jigs to augment test coverage or to integrateother processes, such as on-board programming (OBP) ofdigital devices.

� PILOT V8 and PILOT V4NEXT> optimize the test of“double-side” electronic boards, which require stimulus andmeasurement on both sides of the UUT simultaneously. The useof 8 (V8) or 4 (V4) probes distributed on both sides of the UnitUnder Test enables full test coverage as well as faster test time,and the vertical architecture minimize vibrations during testing,ensuring maximum test precision and measurement stability.

� PILOT BT EV Battery Test system has been designed tomeasure the electrical connections of battery packs. Itperforms parallel and high-resolution Kelvin tests of 16cells at once in its maximum configuration of 4 flyingfixtures on the four heads. It can achieve high productionrates of nearly 2400 battery cells per minute.

MANUFACTURING: the evolutionof the test algorithms and strategiespresent in the VIVA NEXT> softwaremean that the PILOTNEXT> testersprovide fast, high performanceproduction testing. The diverse, integrated test technologiesallow the user to streamline the variousproduction phases, optimizing processtime.

REVERSE ENGINEERING (RE): the necessity of managing field returns isa constant in today’s industy, the repair returns are often older boards which do nothave complete documentation, schematics or construction data. The double-side solutions offered in the PILOTNEXT> LINE are ideally suitedto carry out reverse-engineering operations, and include all of the necessarysoftware tools to enable the reconstruction of the electrical schematics and the CADdata of the board under repair. This helps to facilitate fault detection and repair, andto produce the documentation necessary for legacy support of the product.

PROTOTYPING AND NPI:

by exploiting the versatility of thePILOTNEXT> hardware andsoftware, it is possible to obtainimmediate data from the testing ofprototypes, avoiding costs andtime for building preliminaryfixtures or test benches, ensuringmaximum fault coverage in theminimum time.

REPAIR: there are different types ofrequirements for diagnosing faultyboards, depending on the characteristicsof the boards themselves. The PILOTNEXT> LINE has anextensive tool set developed to addressall of the repair scenarios, and theintrinsic flexibility of the flying probe testapproach allows the user to implementfrom one to all of the test techniquesavailable.

PILOTNEXT>: TEST ENVIRONMENTS

MANUFACTURING, REPAIR, REVERSE ENGINEERING, PROTOTYPING, NEW PRODUCT INTRODUCTION (NPI),and EV BATTIERIES TEST are the environments where the PILOTNEXT> solutions are implemented.

The Seica VIP platform software, VIVA NEXT>, common to all of the PILOT

NEXT> systems, allows a completely versatile test approach, from simple ICT tofunctional tests, from automatic, net-oriented tests to the reconstruction of the data andelectrical schematics of boards coming from the field. VIVA NEXT> is available in a 32 and 64 bit version with a new graphical interfaceand a guided environment for an easy and quick test program creation. It is fullyintegrated with NI-VISA drivers and with third-party test management software.

EV Batteries test: flying probetest is the first standard automatedsolution adopted by batterymanufacturers, and these systems arebeing widely used to measure thebonding resistances of the packs cells.Seica has chosen, with PILOT BT, themore innovative approach ofdeveloping a new solution, whichaddresses current and future batterytest requirements in terms of speed,configurability and reliability.

LED TESTThe LED sensor option is used fortesting the LEDs present on the UUT.The UUT is powered on, and theLED sensor measures luminosity,color, saturation and frequencyspectrums of the LEDs, operating inthe visible and infrared light rangeof wavelengths.

HD CAMERAS

The PILOTNEXT> systems are equippedwith high definition color cameras which,together with new, sophisticated softwarealgorithms, enable an advanced level of opticalinspection of the UUT, complementing theelectrical tests with the verification ofpresence/absence, polarity. In addition they are used for automaticcentering of fiducials, reading barcodes andfor the acquisition of the board image foroffline programming development and supportduring fault diagnostics and repair.

MARKERThe optional UUT test marker can be installed onany PILOTNEXT> system, for visual testtraceability and subsequent identification purposes.

THERMAL SCANThe thermal Scan module verifies the operating temperatures of thecircuits and components on the UUT, comparing them to thetemperature profile acquired on a powered on sample board. Likeall other test techniques available in VIVA NEXT>, thermal scantests are fully integrated into the complete test program for thespecific board.

SPECIAL TEST SEQUENCES AND OBPVIVA NEXT> software can call, during test program execution,functional test sequences written using third party languages: forexample LabviewTM, VBScript, Python, and C, allowing the usermaximum test flexibility. The PILOTNEXT> systems also offer fullyintegrated On Board Programming solutions, applied to the UUT viathe mobile system probes.

TRACEABILITYThe PILOTNEXT> systems include a of hardware and softwarefeatures and performances to support full traceability of the testresults of each single UUT: the cameras automatically read 2Dbarcodes allowing test results to be stored for each board, makingthem available for subsequent repair operations, statisticalanalysis, etc., whether locally, via the resident repair stationmodule, or to external information systems.

AOI AND RGB LIGHTINGThe PILOTNEXT> systemsintegrate new, improved RGBlighting: the advanced filters andcolor programming options allowthe user to achieve the bestconditions for automatic opticalverification of component andsolder presence.

NET-ORIENTED TEST: FNODE-PWMONThe net-oriented test techniquesincluded in the PILOTNEXT>

systems significantly reduce thenumber of measurements requiredfor in-circuit test, therefore testtime, without sacrificing faultcoverage. FNode: stimulates and comparesthe analog behavior of the nets onthe UUT to those on a goldensample board.PWmon: stimulates and comparesthe behavior of the board nets inthe power on condition withrespect to a golden sample board.This test technique is applicable toboth analog and digital nets.

VECTORLESS TECHNIQUESThere are two vectorless test techniquesavailable on the PILOTNEXT>

systems used to check for process faultson ICs (typically shorts and unsolderedpins), fully integrated in the testprogram:Autic: based on clamp diodemeasurements.Openfix: performed via a capacitivesensor which measures the response ofall of the pins of the IC under test.

FLYPODThe FlyPod is a special single probethat can carry up to 10 channels tosupply Jtag and OBP programmingwithout any external FIXED cables.

QUICK TESTThis simple and intuitivesoftware interface enablesthe user to createcustomized functional testsby simply clicking on thevarious system resourcesdisplayed to connect themto the UUT.

FLYSCANThis option brings a fully integratedsolution for flying probe boundaryscan testing. The boundary scan testsare generated automatically alongwith the other electrical tests by theVIVA NEXT> software, and areexecuted as part of the complete testprogram. A single test reportincludes the boundary scan results,and in the case of faults, further testsare carried out via the flying probesto provide component-leveldiagnostic information, usable in theVIVA NEXT> Repair Stationenvironment. The “extended test“feature also enables the jtag-type testof non jtag nets, eliminating the needto create manual cluster testsreducing programming time andincreasing fault coverage.

PRBOOSTThe Prboost option will bring to eachof the eight electrical probes up to2A to give the maximum flexibility topower up the UUT.
