Matt 5:22 Matt 18:9

Luke 16:22-24 And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried; And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Actually more descriptive verses of hell than of heaven!

If you don’t believe in hell, you probably shouldn’t believe in heaven.

Unquenchable

Mark 9:43-48 And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee…. Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee… Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Matt 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Rev 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Remember Lazarus: Luke 16:26 And besides all this, between us and you

there is a great chasm fixed, so that those who wish to come over from here to you will not be able, and that none may cross over from there to us. (NASB)

Those in Hell Cannot Warn Others

Luke 16:27-31 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent. And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.

Our “God of Love”

Would a “god of love” destine someone

to such a terrible eternity??

1. God is a “Holy” God. He cannot be in the presence of evil. (That includes us!)

2. God is a “Just” God. We ALL deserve this destiny. It is only by Jesus’ blood that ANY of us obtain anything better.

Page 19: Is Hell Literal? YES!. Any Questions? Class notes can be found at Then click on “Presentations”

Our God of “Accountability” The alternative is that none of us are held

accountable for anything. Have you learned anything from:

1. Noah’s flood 2. Tower of Babel

3. The Egyptian plagues 4. Canaan

5. Israela. Num 11: Complaining b. Num 14: Lack of Faith

c. Num 15: Breaking Sabbath d. Num 16: Defiance

6. Ananias & Sapphira

What do we deserve? Lessons learned?

Page 20: Is Hell Literal? YES!. Any Questions? Class notes can be found at Then click on “Presentations”

Our God of “Accountability”(Continued)

“Maybe so –

But I can’t really understand that.”

What does “our understanding” have to do with it? Scripture is very clear on this subject. Our “infinite God” is not bound by our “puny

understanding.”

Rejecting Christ

No one ever goes to hell because they failed to do something. When it comes to righteousness, we all fail.

People go to hell because they have placed their faith in baking soda and lemonade.

Page 23: Is Hell Literal? YES!. Any Questions? Class notes can be found at Then click on “Presentations”

Rejecting Christ

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

2Thess 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Rejecting Christ

Naw! What about those who don’t know any better??

Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.

Rejecting Christ

2Pe 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

So whose choice is it to spend eternity in hell?

“Degrees” of Hell

Matt 11:22 But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

Matt 11:24 But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

Mark 6:11, Luke 10:14 Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in

it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

MABC Doctrinal Statement

F. SALVATION: We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins (Eph. 2:8-9; Jn. 1:12; 1 Peter 1:18-19).

Eph 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

MABC Doctrinal Statement

P. THE ETERNAL STATE: We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men, the saved unto eternal life, and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment (Matt. 25:46; Jn. 5:28-29; 11:25-26).

Mat 25:46 And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

John 5:28-29 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
