FOREWORD
This Indian Standard ( Third Revision) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draftfinalized by the Sanitary Appliances and Water fittings Sectional Committee had been approved. by theCivil Engineering Division Council.
This standard was first published in 1961 and the first and second revision were issued in 1967 and 1973respectively. In this third revision the accessories used with sanitary appliances namely footrests, showerrose, ftoortraps and traps for squatting pans, covered earlier under Parts 10, 11,12 and 13 have beenmerged beside incorporating changes found necessary in the light of comments made by the users.improvements made by the Sanitaryware Industry.
The composition of the technical committee responsible for the formulation of this standard is givenin Annex A.
For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, thefinal value, observed or calculated expressing the result of a test or analysis. shall be rounded off inaccordance with IS 2: 1960 'Rules for rounding oft' numerical values ( rni,ed)'. The number ofsipificant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value inthis standard.

5 CONSTRUCTION
1 SCOPE
This standard ( Part 7 ) covers the requirementsfor dimensions and tolerances, construction,finish, tests and marking of following accessories, made of vitreous china.

7.2 Flushing Test
The flushing test is applicable only for trapsfor squatting pans (see Fig. 3 ). The flushingtest shall be performed in accordance to theprovisions stipulated in IS 2556 (Part 3 ) :1994.
8 SAMPLIN G, PROGRESS INSPECTIONAND LOT INSPECTION
The recommended method of sampling, processinspection and lot inspection shall be as givenin IS 9140 : 1996
9 MARKING
9.1 Each piece of the accessories shall be

clearly and indelibly marked at a suitable placewith the following:
i) Name or trade-mark of the manufacturer;and
ii) Batch/lot number.9.1 BIS CertUicatioD MarkiDg9.2.1 The product may also be marked with theStandard Mark.
9.2.2 The use of Standard Mark is governed bythe provisions of the Bureau of Indian StandardsAct t 1986 and the Rules and Regulations madethereunder. Details of conditions under whicha licence for the use of the Standard Mark maybe granted to manufacturers or producers maybe obtained from the Bureau of IndianStandards.
