FORE\VORD
This Indian Standard (Part 4) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized bythe Silk and Silk Products Sectionai Committee had been approved by the Textile Division Council.
Grading of dupion silk is wry important from the viewpoint of quality of the dupion silk and the subsequentproducts made from it. This standard is published in five parts. The other parts in the series are:
Part IPart 2Part 3Part 5
GradingVisual examinationDetermination of special defectsDetermination of average size and size uniformity range
This standard prescribes a method of test to determine the number of times the dupion silk will break duringa certain period of winding it on the bobbins off the skeins and also the feasibility of the skeins for thew inding operation.
The composition of the Committee responsible for the formulation of this standard is given in Annex B.
For the purpose ofdeciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated expressing the result of a test or analysis. shall be rounded off in accordance with[52: 1960 'Rules for rounding off numerical values (revised)'.
