'When freshly manufactured material in bulk quantity is offered for inspection,representative samples of tbe material sball be drawn and tested as prescribed inIS 10627 : 1983 within 90 daysof its manufacture. When tbe material is offeredfor inspection after 90 days of its manufacture, sampling shall be done asprescribed in IS 10627: 1983. However, the criteria for confonnity of the materialwhen tested, shall be the limits of tolerances, as applicable over the declarednominalvalueand given underclause3.3.1 of the standard.'

FOREWORD

This Indian Standard was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards. after the draft finalized by thePesticides Sectional Committee had been approved by the Food and Agriculture Division Council.

Chlorothalonil WP is used for the control of fungal diseases in agriculture and generally manufacturedto contain 75 percent ( mlm ) of chJorotbalonil.

In the preparation of this standard, due consideration has been given to the provisions of theInsecticides Act, 1968 and the Rules framed thereunder. However, this standard is subject to therestrictions imposed under these, wherever applicable.

For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, thefinal value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test or analysis, shall be rounded off inaccordance with IS 2 : 1960 'Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised )'. The number ofsignificant places retained in the rounded off value should be the sameas that of the specified valuein this standard.

1 SCOPEThis standard prescribes the requirements and themethods of sampling and test for chlorothalonilWP.

3 REQUIREMENTS

3.1 Constituents

ChlorothaJonil, technical employed in the formu­lation of this material shall conform to IS 13132 :1991.

3.2 DescriptioD

The material shall be in the form of a fine, freeflowing powder, white to off grey in colour with­out any extraneous impurities and shall wet readilyon mixing with water, providing a suspensionsuitable for spray.

3.3 The material shall also comply with therequirements given in Table 1.

3.3.1 Chlorotha/onil Content

When determined by the method prescribed inAnnex B of IS 13132 : 1991, the observed chloro­thalonil content percent (m/m) of any of the

samples shalJ not differ from the declared nominalvalue by more than the tolerance limits indicatedbelow:

4 PACKING

The material shall be packed in Jow densitypolyethylene bags of thickness not less than0·062 mm inserted in suitable corrugated fibre­board boxes [ see IS 2771 ( Part 1 ) : 1977]. Thecontainers shall also comply with the generalrequirements as specified in 1 of IS 8190 (Part 1) :1988.

5 MARKING

The containers shall bear legibly and indelibly thefollowing information in addition to any otherinformation as is necessary under the InsecticidesAct, 1968 and Rules framed thereunder:

a) Name of the material;b) Indication of source of manufacture;
