MAKE IT A FRIENDS AND FAMILY WEEKEND AT YOUR NEXT IRONMAN 70.3

Author: January 6, 2011

World Triathlon Corporation is excited to offer four weekends of racing with both short- and long-distance courses. Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 Texas, Ironman 70.3 Timberman and Ironman 70.3 Muncie will each be coupled with a sprint triathlon, while Ironman 70.3 Mooseman will be paired with an international-distance race. The dates are as follows:

* Lonestar Sprint and Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 Texas – Saturday and Sunday, April 9 and 10 * Mooseman International and Ironman 70.3 Mooseman – Saturday and Sunday, June 4 and 5 * Muncie Sprint and Ironman 70.3 Muncie – Saturday,

July 9 * Timberman Sprint and Ironman 70.3 Timberman – Saturday and Sunday, August 20 and 21 Triathlon is an individual sport but often sees team camaraderie in training. Many athletes choose to train in groups as they are more apt to complete goals and are held accountable by others. Differing goals frequently result in separate race weekends, but these four events allow short-course triathletes to participate the same weekend as their training partners who are competing in an Ironman 70.3. The joint events will also provide accompanying friends or family members a convenient opportunity to try a short-course triathlon and perhaps be inspired to move to a longer race. “Offering two distances encourages a variety of athletes – from first-timers to veterans – to participate,” said Audra Tassone, race director for Ironman 70.3 Mooseman. “The combined events make for a well-rounded weekend athletes can share with friends, family and training partners.” For more information or to register for an event, please visit http://www.ironman.com.

The course is a 2.4-mile two-loop swim. The first loop is

reconnecting with the original portion of the swim course,

completion of the swim. After exiting the water, athletes will

run up the beach, running up the entrance steps to the

Boardwalk, before continuing on to the transistion area.

Note: Ironman North America reserves the right to change the

swim portion of the event due to weather or other safety

factors.
