Original Can Design

My original can design was

pretty simple. I didn’t really

have an idea of what I was

going to do. I had the thought

to give it quite an old retro look

to it, but that is all I really

thought about.

I didn’t really know what to put

on the back, so I just put the

‘BARR’ logo quite large.

The font I used for the title and

the nutritional information was

‘Fette Egyptienne’. It is a bold

font, but also quite retro

looking which is what I wanted.

On IRN BRU’s real can’s they

use a picture of a manthrowing a javelin. This is

where I got my idea of using a

person playing badminton

instead.

Second and Completed Can Design

This is my final design on what I

came up with. It still has that

retro look to it, but I then went

on to touch it up with a few

things.

I kept the man playing

badminton in the middle, but

changed him to the colour

white instead of the grey I was

using before.

I also came up with a theme

too. The idea of the pictogram

man in the middle came from

the Olympics 2012, so I decided

to do an Olympics theme.

With the Olympics theme in

mind, this gave me something

to write on the back of the can.

I decided to go with idea of

making the can’s limited edition

just for the Olympics. I picked

Scottish Olympic medal

winners, wrote their name,

what they won in, and what

medal/medals they won.

On this particular can I used a

woman called Susan Egelstaff.

She won bronze in badmintonfor Great Britain, but she is

obviously also Scottish.

Susan Egelstaff Can Front

Once I had designed it all, I had to try

it out on an actual can to see what it

looked like, and I thought it worked

really well. It is simple on the front,

but I really like that. I thought it all

worked nicely.

Chris Hoy Can Design

Once I had made my first can design, I

then went on to make more copies of

these with different Scottish Olympic

medal winners, such as Chris Hoy.

It is exactly the same as the other can,

apart from the pictogram in the middle

of the can has been changed to a biker, because Chris Hoy’s profession is

biking. I also changed the back of the

can where it talk about who it is, and

what medals they won in what

Olympic sport.

Chris Hoy Can Front

This is what the Chris Hoy can looks like

from the front. It is similar to the other

one, apart from the Biker pictogram in

the middle.

Andy Murray Can Design 2

Same goes for this design as

the other two. It is exactly

the same as the others apart

from the pictogram in the

middle, and the writing on

the back about the Olympic

champion.

Andy Murray Can Front

Once again, this can is exactly the

same as the others, apart from the

fact that the pictogram in the

middle has been changed to a

tennis player, because it is a Andy

Murray can, and his profession istennis.
