W.C. Levengood says UFOs may be responsible

Anomalous energy patternsfound atBy David E. Twichell

0 2006This article is intended as a follow-up to my article "Is bov ine hemoglob inthe smoking gun in cattle mutilationcases?" published in the June. 2005. is-sue of the MUFON UFO Jozrmnl. As a brief recap of that article. bio-physicist W.C. Levengood of thePinelandia Biophysical Laboratory inGrass Lake. MI, whose analytical meth-ods involving crop formations and ani-mal excisions have become the w orld-wide standard, shared his discovery ofsmall, black, hardened specks on thechest and testicles at the point of theexcision, which ultimately proved to bepure bovine hemoglobin. In her laboratory in Ohio, analyticalchemist Phyllis Budinger co n fm ed hisfindings using the latest state-of-the-artinfrared spectral photometer in analyz-ing the samples. The only known biochemical pro-cess to produce pure hemoglobin fromhuman o r animal blood m ust be donein a laboratory with chemicals, a cen-trifuge, and strict temperature control."It's totally incomprehensible howthe hemoglobin could be removed inthe middle of the night out in the middleof a pasture and separated from all theother cellular components," Levengoodstates in his scien tific paper "Biophysi-cal Study of Two Bovine Excision Sitesat Christmas Valley, Oregon, 2002" ( 02002).For this reason (as well as a laundrylist of other elemen ts of the evidence),Levengood rejects the skeptic's asser-tion that "cult worsh ipers" are to blamefor the deed. "The technology involvedis beyond anythtng currently available,"he says.So too does he reject the theory ofpredators. "The alterations are not aMay 2006

random ripping and tearing of the flesh, but rather they are precise, surgicalexcisions." For this reason, the term"bovine excision" is a more accuratedescription of the scene than "cattlemutilation," for wh ich the phenomenonis more commo nly known. In addi t ion to the hemoglobinanomaly, Levengood has also foundenergy patterns in connection with thesebovine incisions. In his scientific thesis, "Consistencyin Patterns of Energy Distributions atWorldwide Bovine Excision Sites" ( 02006), he observes:"There is an energy pattern infusedinto the soil and grass in the imm ediateregion around the animal, and extend-ing outward in a radial manner. Thetype of energy applied increases thethermod ynam ic free energy of both thegrass and soil."These free energy changes are con-sistently observed in most all excisioncases exam ined in this laboratory."This energy pattern extend s outwardfrom two to thirty feet from the carcass.

A well-known aspect of animal ex-cision cases is the fact that othe r ani-mals refuse to venture into the areawhere the carcass was d iscovered longafter the carcass has been remo ved.In a recent bovine excision investi-gation in Boyne Lake. Alberta, Canada,Levengood w rites:"When the owners arrived in thefield and found the dead cow, the restof the herd were very upset and ranaway from them as they approached. They told me that had never occurredbefore."This curious characteristic of thephenomenon could well be explainedby the energies being radiated from thesite. This energy may be outside therange of human perception, but wellwithin that of other animals. With the aid of scientific instrumen ts,these energies are easily detected an dhelp to venfy the reason for the animal'sreluctance to enter the area.

    - An affiliation between animal exci-sions, crop formations, and UFOs haslong been suspected amo ng ufologistsand, covertly, some mainstream scien-tists. Many characteristics, such ashighconcen trations of "m agnetic particles,"are found in both sites.Biophysicist Levengood has alludedto this connection for years without di-rectly mak ing this assertion. Recen tly, however, he has become more candidin his treatment of both subjects. In the aforementioned scientific pa-per, he writes, "We don't know whyspecific organs are excised. Do thebovine organs con centrate certain ele-ments such as the rare earths [Cerium(Ce). Praseodymium (PI-). eodymium(Nd). Sama rium (Sm) etc.] that are ofimportance in the restoration of freeenergy in the internal cells of the enti-ties involved?'MUFON UFO Journal - 3

Entities involved? Wh at entities in-volved?Levengood references the bookRaechel S Eyes by Helen Littrell andJean Bilodeaux (Wild Flower Press,2005, pp. 96), in which cattle abduc-tions and excisions are discussed."This process is described by HL astaking place in 'a vortex of highlycharged light particles. which transportsthe animal to a waiting spacec raft hov-ering above.' Th e light particles dis-cussed here may have properties quitedifferent than the light particles withwhich we are familiar. In our frame ofreference, ordinary light or photons arequantum particles, w hich do not pos-sess an electric charge."In the first paper mentioned in thisarticle, he states, "The energy affect-ing the plants is of a more subtle na-ture, giving the impression tha t it maybe an artifact of the propulsion or in-ternal energy compon ents emitted bythe 'UFO' craft."And, "This local injury effect was notobserved in plants a t the bull excisionsite; however, in this case the energysource (UFO) was at a sufficien t heightabove the soil surface to cause the in-duced magnetic field from the ion-elec-tron avalanches to 'pick up' magneticparticles-thus accounting for the reduc-tion in the level of magnetic particlesnear the anima l as well as the log-logtype of distribution."These statements qualify the ener-gies as being intelligently directed, asopposed to random, natural energies, and specifically m ention "unconven-tional flying objects."If there is a correlation betw een thecrop formation and animal excisionphenomena, one would expect thegreatest concentration of energies to befound at the carcass, and decrease out-ward-as is the case with radiation lev-els detected in cro p circles. .However, Levengoo d has found thatthe reverse is true. The greatest con-centration of energies is typically fou ndin the outer ring.In a telephone interview, he theorizesthat the higher energy levels are beingemitted from the ou ter ring of the craft. The variance in the outer diam eter of

the energy ring on the ground is depen-dent upon the size of the craft and thealtitude from which the animal had beenlowered or dropped. When asked why he is only now ad-mitting to his acceptance of the UFOand rela ted phe-nomena , Leven-good cited his ad-vanced years andthe fact that he istired of "beatingaround the bush"

Levengood He has enjoyed along and respectedcareer within the scientific comm unityand feels he has the right, as well as theobligation, to publicly announce hisconclusions based solely on the data.

After about15 minutes it seemed a s though everystar in the universe suddenly appeared.Everything quickly and strangely gotbrighter in a matter of seconds. All of a sudden my dog s, a black laband a border collie, sat down back toback, an d my lab looked up at the skyand started barking very tensely, likeshe does when she sees danger, suchas coyotes.I looked up, and to the far north wasthis huge beam of light going from westto east, which looked as though it w asa huge white solar light, like you wouldsee around Saturn in pictures. It seemed to follow the curve of theEarth, as a rainbow w ould, horizon tohorizon. At first I thought it was a very

different beginning to the northernlights, but as I watched, the band gotwider and wider.I ran inside to get my husband anddaughters, and we went outside towatch it. At about 8 PM my friend andtheir family from down the road drovedown and watched this with us.This beam of light was still gettingwider, west to east, but it seemed to bemoving as though it was being blownfrom the north toward the south.About 8:15 it was straight up overour heads, and by 8:30 it was way southof us. It had perfectly straight edge s,even as it got wide r and wider. It didn'treally seem too high in space, but nottoo low either. You could see this for miles andmiles, and there were no clouds. Asthe mass moved southward, there weremany flashing lights that we assumedwere airplanes or helicopters at the farsouthwestern end of this white beam. After it passed, the areas went backto their darker state, which was still aclear night w ith all the stars out. It dis-appeared just as it started-it was justgone.Determ ination: unknown.

Brown-Form er Security Policeman, 343'*Mis-

sile Security Squadron, MalmstromAFB, Montana:Comment: I first learned of JoeBrown's experience after he posted abrief sum mary of it on researcher RonWrigh t's Triad Research website. WithWright's assistance, I located Brownand interviewed him.Brown states that one night in thespring of 1992, he and his security teampartner were posted at Alpha Flightmissile silo A-3.Due to an alarm system malfunctionat the site, the two-man team wasstaked-out in a security camper near thelaunch facility, with on e man on dutywhile the other slept."I believe it w as.M arch or April,"Brown told me, "site top-side securitywas down-the IMPSS (Improved Min-uteman Phys ical Security System)-and

if I remember correctly, there was notop-side power."At about 4:30 AM, Brown noticed abright white light moving erraticallyacross the sky. In his online posting,Brown had written, "This light wasdoing some wild things in the sky, sud-den direction changes, moving veryfast, then stopping, then shoo ting off inanother direction. I watched this forabout 15 to 20 m inutes.".Then the light appeared to movecloser to the silo. "I started gettingspooked," Brown w rote. "so I reachedout the window of the truck and startedbanging on the camper shell to wake[my partner1 up."He finally came around the front, asking me what was wrong. I pointedto the lightand told him I'd been watch-ing it for around 20 minutes and I didn'tknow what it was. He got into the pas-senger side of the truck and we keptwatching this thing do ing its acrobat-ics."Brown dec ided to radio another se-curity team posted at Alpha F light siloA-10, located some 10 miles away."They responded hesitantly that theywere watch ing this light," he wrote.

TheFlight Security Controller (FSC )at the Alpha Flight Launch ControlFacility apparently overheard this ex-change, because he suddenly broke intothe conversation to inquire about theanxious radio chatter between the twosecurity teams. Each confirmed that

they w ere observing the strange lightas it raced wildly around the sky.Brown wrote that the team contin-ued to watch the UFO until around 6:30to 7:00 AM, when it suddenly appearedto go straight up and ho ver. "We couldstill see the light, but by now it wasstarting to get daylight."As it got brighter, we could sort ofmake out a black shape around wherethe light was. We had binoculars, buteven with them, all you could see wasa fuzzy outline of sort of a triangle. Ican't estimate the height of the object."Upon returning to Malmstrom,Brown and his partner privately con-ferred with the security team posted atAlpha F light silo A- 10. The four guardsagreed that they would not mention thesighting, and all expressed concernabout possible repercussions resultingfrom their report to the Flight SecurityController. As the security guards returned theirweapons to the arm ory, they were sud-denly orde red to report to a captain as-signed to their squadron. Brown can-not recall the officer's name, but re-memb ers being very concerned by thisunexpected development. The captain asked the men to de-scribe what they had seen. He listenedcarefully and then pointedly suggestedthat they not discu ss the sighting.

Brown told me, "At this point, thecaptain says, well I don't thinkyou sawa n y h n g an d I wouldn't go around talk-ing abou t it. You guys are under PRP,remem ber that!"Comment: Here is an apparent in-stance in which the mere mention ofthe PRP-Personnel Reliability Pro-gram-effec tively intimidated militaryUFO witnesses into silence. This Department of Defense direc-tive pertains to those who wo rk with oraround nuclear weapons, and dictatestheir conduct both o n and off the job.If an individual's commanding of-ficer judges his or her behavior to beunreliable, and a potential threat to thesecurity of the weapons, a psychologi-cal examination of that person is usu-ally ordered. Depending on itsoutcome, the individual under scrutiny risks be-ing relieved of duty.Brown stated that a couple of daysafter his experience at Alpha Flight, he

The response w as aftir-mative.The missile maintenance technicianwho later reported the sighting toGoodrich said that the light was "large,"and displayed num erous smaller lights-red, orange, yellow, green, and blue-across its surface. The UFO had beenmoving very slowly across the missilefield, at low altitude. The technician insisted that the ob-ject was not an airplane or helicopter.Becau se he was a member of the mis-sile maintenance team, and not a secu-r i ty pol iceman, he d id not knowwhether the Alert Response Team hadsubsequently reported the UF O to theFlight Security Controller at the IndiaFlight Launch Control Facility.Comment: This UFO was not thefirst to be reported in Montana d uringJanuary, 1995. An update on the 1976Iranian jet chase

By Bruce MaccabeeA rude awakeningWhen I talked to Henry, an employeeof the Westinghouse Corporation, inlate 1 982 he still remembered the night, six years before, when he was rudelyawakened by th e loud roar of jets tak-ing off at full speed. At that time he lived close to theShahroki Air Field in Hamadan, Iran.Jets taking off at full speed at night and"with afterburner" were a rarity, hesaid.Henry w as in Iran to help maintainthe avionics, including radar, in the F-4 Phanto m jets that the Lranians hadbought several years earlier.Although he did not know the rea-son for the high speed takeoffs at thetime they occurred, he found out thenext day: the jets had chased a UFO.Several days after that, he and co-workers were allowed to examin e theplanes. They found that all the elec-

tronics were operating normally. Thiswas surprising, considering what thepilots reported had happened during thechase!Mehrebad Airport in Tehran was abusy airport, handling many hundredsof takeoffs and landings, civilian andmilitary, every day.Houssain Pirouzi was the night su-pervisor in charge of the air traffic con-trol tower at the airport. At age 3 5 healready had 1 3years experien ce in traf-fic control. When he arrived at work about 10PM the evening of Sept. 18 ,1976, therewas nothing to suggest that this warmevening would be unlike any other hehad ever experienced. The first hint of som ething differentcame at about 1 0:30 PM w hen the air-port received a phone call from a civil-ian in the Shemiran area, about 10 milesnorthea st of the airport.May 2006

BackgroundWhat f ollows is my reconstructionof the sighting history. This is based.in part. on two interviews of HossainPirouzi, done three and four months af-ter the events. They were provided tome by reporter Bo b Pratt. who was. atthe time, a full time UFO investigatoremployed by the National Enquirer.Thi s history is also based on news-paper acco unts and on the initially clas-sified (Confidential) U. S. Air Force(USAF) teletype message by Lt. Col.Olin M ooy that prim arily describes theevents as recounted durin g an interviewof the pilot of th e second jet.Col. Mooy was a member of theMilitary Assis tance and AdvisoryGroup (MAAG) which consisted ofUSA F officers who provided assistanceand advice to the Imperial Iranian AirForce (IIAF)A strange objectHossain Pirouzi listened as a lady de-scribed seeing "a stran ge object like asun in the sky about 1,000 meters(about 3,000 ft) above me. The colorschange through orange, red and yel-low."She said the closest thing she couldcom pare -it with was a fan with fourblades. Furthermore, she thought theremight be two objects, because some-times it seemed to separate into twoparts. Pirouzi told her she shouldn'tworry. He would check it out.Pirouzi didn't bother to check up onit. His radar was being repaired, sothere was nothing on the radar screen. He went about his normal business tak-ing care of oth er aircraft that were pass-ing through his control area. Then at about 10:45 he got anothercall. Th is caller was another lady inthe sam e area of the city as the first lady. She said she had been on the roof ofher house and suddenly saw a strangeobject lighting up and changing direc-

Babolsaris about 100 (statute) miles northeastof Tehran, on the north side of theElburz Mountains, which rise to over18,000 ftTehran is at about 4,000 ft above sealevel. ShaharokiAirBase is about 15 0(statute) miles west-southwest ofTehran . Neither of these radar instal-lations had a radar target in the loca-tion of the object.[Conjecture: perhaps the high moun-tains-blocke d the Babolsar radar, andperhaps the object-was not apparent tothe Shahariki radar because it wouldhave been silhouetted against "groundclutter" caused by the high mountainsaround northern and eastern Tehran.]Youssefi then called Pirouzi, andPerouzi told the general wh ere to lookfor the object. Youssefi went onto theroof of his northern Tehran house. Hereported to Pirouzi that he saw the sam eobject and "it isn't a star." He decidedto appeal to "air powers."Gen. Yo ussefi called Sha hroki AirBase and ordered an imm ediate launchof a P hantom jet.

According to Janes' All the World'sAircrafi,n the late 60's an d early 70'sIran purchased 32 F-4D Phantom jetsand also some-number not given-F-4Ejets. The se are capable of speeds up toMach 2.2.Twenty-three-year-old Lt. Jafari re-sponded to the scramble order. He tookoff at 1:30 AM at his fastest takeoffspeed (and woke up Henry!). He soonspotted the UFObecause it was bright

enough to be seen from 7 0 miles away..He proceeded to a point about 40miles north of Tehran. Pirouzi actedas an intermediary, relaying Youssefi'sorders to the pilot.Th e general ordered the pilot to getas close as possible to determine theshape of the object, but to do nothingelse (no order to attack). It appearedto now be as high as 12,000 ft.A ccord i ng t o J a f a r i , a s he ap -proached at more than the speed ofsound the object sped up to stay ahead. He described it as "half the size of themoon as seen from earth," and "it wasradiating violet, orange, and white lightabout three times as strong as moon-light." Mach 2 is not enoughJafari put the "pedal to the metal"and reached a speed of about Mach 2(1,500 mph or 25 miles per minute),and still couldn 't catch it. He was fly-ing toward Afghanistan, about 500miles east of Tehran.Youssefi ordered him to return toTehran if he cou ldn't catch it, so Jafariturned and headed back. Th e objectalso reversed direction and began tochase the plane. In a short section of an audio taperecording (I presume made at the AirTraffic Control Center at Mehrabad)that was published in a local newspa-per (see below), Jafari reported:"Something is coming at me frombehind. It is 15 miles aw ay.. .now tenmiles.. .now five miles.. .It is levelnow.. .I think it is going to crash in to

were w orking normally, and the fightson the instrument panel were working, but all his navigation aids were out.Youssefi ordered him to close againto get a better view. This time, accord -ing to the Air Force teletype message(see below) of Lt. Col. Mooy, whenJafari got to a range of about 25 nauti-cal miles (about 29 statute miles), he"lost all instrumentation and com mu -nications (UHFradio and intercom)."[Note: the intercom allows comm u-nication between the pilot in the frontseata nd the radar operator in the backseat of the aircraft.]Pirouzi reported that " . at onepoint as he w as talking to me, his radiowent dead completely as he got closeto the object."By this time he was running low onfuel, so he broke off the chase andheaded back toward Shaharoki. Ac-cording to the Air Force teletype m es-sage, "When the F-4 turned away fromthe object and apparently was no longera threat to it the aircraft regained a ll in-strumentation and comm unications."Before he left the area, Jafari re-ported receiving an emergency beaconsignal, as had the earlier civilian aircraft.(Wh ether or not this was related tothe presence of the UFO is not known. It may be that an emergency beaconsomehow fell out of an aircraft that hadpassed over earlier and had landed onthe ground and started transmitting asif a crash had occurred.)Continued next issue: "The sec-ond jet chase."

MUFON ForumStrieber claims imaginary?I appreciated the article by Budd

Hopkins about the cover of Commun-ion in the latest wa rc h ]MUFON Jour-nal. How ever I feel compelled to makea comment about Whitley Strieber'sclaims. There are many of us in the UFOcommunity who have long known thathis experiences are totally imaginary, and this article inadvertently confirmsthat fact.Any thinking person has to ask howon earth he wen t through all of the ex-periences he claims he had (includinga Gray someh ow living in his house...)and got the shape of the alien's head s ocompletely wrong.Th e article mentions his "intense ex-citement" at the completion of the paint-ing because "it was exactly like thefaces he'd seen" and that it was the"same face."Then i t describes how Whit ley"could not stop talking about the waythe artist had accurately caught the sil-houette of the alien's face."No w onder Strieber is said to havelooked "no np lusse d when confrontedwith the fact that his accurately-por-trayed alien was so different from anyother ever reported. His sudden abou t-face and the sud-den "retrieval" of his memory is enoughto make any thinking person cringe."Now that I think abou t it" ? .... 'mon! It's obvious the guy was caug ht in a lie!Strieber is a writer of h orror and sto-ries about the weird who has found inthe UFO field not only a wealth of fas-cinating material to play with and ex-ploit, but also an abundan ce of peopleeager to have any well-known personvalidate the reality of the alien presence. That he is a brilliant fiction writerthere is no doubt, but he has a ttemptedto use almost every facet of ufology(Roswell, abductions, coverups, hiddenmem ories, missing time, implants etc)to sell books.

Have w e forgotten his support of thealien craft accompanying Hale-Bo pp?But don't take it from me. The on eperson on earth who is presumablycloser to Whitley Strieber than anyother-his wife-has a f f i e d o multiplepeople that everything he has eve r writ-ten is fiction. In the presence of Gle m ys Mackay,MUFON's coordinator in Australia, and several others, she volunteered thatinformation when we brought theStriebers to Brisbane for an Interna-tional Conference in 1999.As I have followed his writing andpronounce ments since then, it is obvi-ous that anyone who quotes him or ref-erences him will one day have egg ontheir face.Hopkins' account of his Comm un-ion cover makes a valid point aboutthose who have had authentic alienencounters, but it also reveals the factthat Whitley Strieber's own en countershave no basis outside his own, very fer-tile, imag ination.-Warren AstonBourdais answers RedfernIn the March issue of the MUFONUFOJou rna l, Nick Redfern has madea detailed critique of my article regard-ing his book Body Snatchers in theDesert" (published in the Novemberissue), citing a "number of hugely c riti-cal errors." I w ould like to reply to atleast some of them.Redfern first says that I qu estionedthe scenario of a massive amount ofdocumentat ion on Unit 73 1 beingbrought to the United States after theWWTI. I did not.I mentioned that it had been ob-tained, after two years of n egotiationwith the Japanese, in exchange for im-munity granted to the doctors who hadmade ho mb le biowarfare experimentsat Unit 731 in Manchuria. On the other hand, I did write that itwould have been impossible for theAm erican military to seize any of the

    15/25

remaining prisoners, since they had allbeen killed just before the a niva l of theRussians in Manchuria. Now, Redfern sa ys that "certain Unit731 activities were undertaken in theclosing states of the War on severalPacific islands." I suppose we are tounderstand that it was possible, then,to seize prisoners a nd send them to theUnited S tates. very secretly, for furtherexperiments. In his book, Redfern does mention,at the beginning (page 5) , experimentsmade on a sm all island in the Pacific, revealed to him by the "Black Widow,"but that track is forgotten in the rest ofthe book.Instead, the activities of U nit 73 1 inManchuria are detailed in chapter 5"Medical Madne ss," with no mentionat all of Pacific islands. Only mentionedthere are Unit 100 and Unit 731, lo-cated near the city of H arbin, and laterat Pingfan. in Manchuria. in accordancewith historical sources.SO ,when his source "Levine" states(page 85) that "a quantity of still-liv ingpeople were found in the remains ofUnit 7 3 1 facilities," w e understand thathe refers to the facilities in Manchuria, and that, therefore, the story is bogus. Now, if this happened, not in Man-churia, but on Pacific islands, Redfernstill has, again, to give serious docu-mentation to prove that! Redfern alsoannounces "new CIA documentationdue to surface in 2006."Well, if it confirms the Redfern sce-nario of handicapped C hinese prison-. ers being sent to the Unites States tocarry on w ith horrible experiments, itwill be big news-and a big scanda l too.We will see. In the meantime, I remain, for my part, very skeptical about sucha dubious scenario.Redfern accuses m e of having mis-understood the question of the atomicpowered aircraft, by saying that his in-formers had mentioned tests of such aplane, which did not exist in 1947. Idid not say that a t all.

I questioned, following Stan Fried-man and others, the mere possibility ofloading an atomic pile, or any similardevice, on a little "Horten like" flyingwing such as described by Redfern.14

Besides, it would have been extremelydangerous for the technicians who weresupposed to do it.Redfern insists that "Progeria suffer-ers," found in the alleged crash nearWhite Sands, could have been at theorigin of the rumors of aliens found nearRoswell. But the main witnesses re-ferred to a crash near Roswell, not nearWhite Sands. with the exception of thedubious cameraman's tale.Secondly, even if we adm it that somelittle-informed people, having a glim pseat such alleged victims, might havemade such a confusion, this could notbe the c ase of military personnel, in-cluding doctors, having to rescue them.I don't see at all how the rescue ofsuch bodies near White Sands couldhave created the "le ge nd of an Aliencrash near Rosw ell. It's just nonsenseto me.Regarding the other alleged crash, ofa weird little plane (a "lifting body"!)near Roswell, piloted this time by acrew of norm al Japanese, it's even m oreimpossible: if this w ere what the mili-tary of Roswel l had found nearRo sw ell ~o rp se s f normal Japanesepilots among debris of balloon and air-plane-they would have been easilyidentified.

Consequently, there would havebeen no press release, and no Roswellcase to talk about. Redfern finds "highlysignificant" the testimony of Sgt.Melvin Brown, as reported by hisdaughter Beverly Bean, who had a briefglimpse at corpse s under a tarp, in thedarkness of a truck a fter dusk, and re-called that they "looked Asian."Actua lly, he also sa id that they hadlarge heads and no hair, that their skinlooked yellowish-orange (rather than"yellowy"), and was similar to that ofa lizard. Peculiar Japan ese pilots! As for the "Alien Autopsy film,"Redfern explains that the strange be-ing was not a victim from the WhiteSands crash, but probably of ''atomicflash blindness experiments undertakenat Randolph Air Force base, TX."He says that the first idea is "non-sense." I agree , but let me add that hissecond idea is nonsense as well. I don'tknow what that film show ed, but it was

    MUFON UFO Journal

certainly not a human body. Finally, Redfern doubts that the sce-nario revealed by his informers c ouldbe a debunking operation, because thegovernm ent "had laid the matter to rest"with the Mogul story and the crash-test-dummies.Not really. First, nobody took thedummies seriously. Secondly, the M o-gul balloon train (Mogul 4. w ith radartargets, which was never launched!)looks more and more like a phantomballoon, fading aw ay like the legend-ary ship.To test it, just buy a balsa wood stickand break it in your hands. is im po rta nt if h e s to be spent in-vestigating an y UFO related event. Inother words, why generate a lie andkeep it quiet?I was impressed with this man anddecided to at least have a look. I canonly tell you that the events I would en-counter over the next five years tookplace in a remote area in Missouri.Exac t locations will not be given inorder to'protect these people from themedia and those who might crowd thelocations to see for themselves. .Obviously I cannot use names at therequest of the many w itnesses. It wasnot, and is not, my plan to keep this tomyself for any other reason. All namesand locations are on file, and if the wit-nesses agree to release them i t will bedone imm ediately.Th e data received will be presentedin chronological order a s it occurred.

~ecember5,1998The first event took place on Dec.15, 1998, as the witness (J) and his wifewere driving their truck to their "farm,"

a family cabin located on a high hill attheir cattle ranch of several hundredacres."My wife and I were driving to ourfarm to check the cattle," reports J. "Wewere on County Road -. Right beforethe T. home I viewed a large lit sta-tionary object above a high hill behindthe - ome."I quickly alerted my wife, causingher to se e the object also. I drove ap-proximately another 100 yards. just pastthe - home, and stopped. When Istopped, the object immediately disap-peared."The best way to describe the ob-ject is that it was tank-like in form withat least three orange lights about mid-way. These lights were running hori-zontally across the side of the object. There were other smaller lights aboveand below the larger lights."The o bject produced no sound, andthen suddenly vanished. Also, no move-ment w as detected as it hovered abovethe tree s on the hill."After waiting a short time to see ifthe object would return, the two con-tinued their drive to the farm, locatedabout a quarter mile distant. When they arrived at the locked frontgate, J and his wife were getting out ofthe truck to unlock and open the gatewhen they saw w hat appeared to be theobject again. It was stationary aboveand in front of their cabin, several hun-dred feet ahead.

They opened the gate and starteddriving tow ard it, and the object againdisappeared."We then drove to my barn to getfeed," says J, "and again saw the largeobject hovering ab ove the far distantnortheast timber horizon. It appearedto be very large, tank-like in shape, andwith the same orange lights around themid-section."It also seemed to be mov ing very

slowly to the east until it suddenly van-ished.Shortly after it disappeared, twolarge orange lights came into view tothe right of where the object had been .These two lights grew larger, then dis-appeared with no sound. After seeing this, J called T and K(their son and daughter). who thencame to the farm also. Nothing wasseen for the next 45minutes.But then J was called from the cabin, and went to the car where T & K weresitting. While looking eas t, all three (J,T,& K) saw a glowing light coming upthe hill from the creek below towardthem. They equated the glow to that of ve-hicular headlights coming up from thecreek. However, neither the beam n orthe source of light was seen, only itsglow. In essence, the glow appeared asheadlights which had not topped thehill, according to the witnesses .I checked the area on my first tripand found the terrain over which theglow passed was very rough. Head-l ights would have been bouncingaround, but the glow was reported assteady. There is no thing in that direction thatcould have produced light of any kind. The farm is totally gated, and a vehiclecould not en ter the area unless it passedthe careta ker's home-and all the gateswere locked. The witnesses estimated that theglow approached to within 150feet oftheir position and went out.

    20/25

About 30 minutes later, the groupwitnessed a similar beam or glow m ov-ing east across the open field fromwhich they had originally seen the light. It appeared as a faint spotlight search-ing the field, but the light had no brightsource. The field is located several hundredfeet from the cabin, and is clearly vis-ible. There are no roads or access. Thearea is extremely quiet, and the slight-est sound could have been heard. At about 8:45, while driving home,J and his wife approached the T homeagain. Illuminated by his porch.light, Tstood in his yard w ith rifle in hand.J reports, "We stopped, and T toldus that his dogs had been barking, sohe cam e out to see what had them riledup. His goats, sheep, and large guarddogs, who usually spend the night onthe hill where we first viewed the hov-ering object, had com e off the hill andwere gathered around T's house. Ac-cording to T, the animals were very rest-less.

December 16,1998J describes the events: "At 6:45 PMI arrived at the entrance gate to my.farm.I shut off the engine, and as I be-gan to exit the truck to unlock the gateI saw a bright light appear above thenortheast horizon."As I w atched, six more.lights ap-peared in a horizontal line to make atotal of seven lights. After several sec-onds they began to squeeze out. I im-mediately called T (son)."After T and I sat for about 20 inin-Utes watching the no rtheast, we saw afaint orange light appear. The field be-neath the light seemed to have a faintspotlight.glow moving aroun d over it."About 15 seconds later, a secondorange light appeared, and as we bothwatched, a small silver object exited theorange object and began moving south-east; We both watched the silver objectas it flew out of sight. Over the next 45minutes, threeorange lights appeared."December 17,1998Eight witnesses observed a smallbright light moving from south to north-east at high speed. It suddenly made animmediate hairpin U-turn and begantraveling south. About five secondsMay 2006

later, a large orange glow appearedwhere the sm aller light was located. When the orange glow was bright-est, a very small object moved out ofthe orange glow and traveled out ofsight toward the south.During the next 30 to 40 minutes, atotal of 16 orange lights were seen. Tenlights in a continual succession wereseen lighting up in a perfect horizontalline across the northeastern sky.

These lights were followed in a fewminutes by three lights in a "spacedapart," somewhat vertical, arrange-ment.N C videotaped some of the tenlights. As he attempted to tape thesmaller object, the camera would notfunction, but it did function whenturned away from the object.Next month: tremendous forcemoves truck.

. . . PERCEPTIONSy StantonT.FriedmanZapped planesSom e people responded strongly tosome of the things in Frank Feschino'simportant book (First Edition) TheBraxton County Monster: Coverup ofthe Flatwoods Monster Revealed, which came o ut in 2004. I had writtenthe foreword and ep ilog. There were two areas of concern, one being the implication from the PRmaterial that there had been dogfightsbetween U FOs and m ilitary intercep-

tors. The other was my comment in theepilog that I had heard of six differentcases in which planes had apparentlybeen zapped by UFOs they were try-ing to attack.Frank and I, with significant helpfrom Dr. David Rudiak and BarryGreenwood, dug out substantiating in-formation that frankly surp rised us all.One was the fact that orders hadbeen issued in 1952 for military planesto shoot down UFOs if they didn't landwhen instructed to do so.Flatwoods took place on Sept. 12,1952, on which date there were a hostof UFO sightings and close encounters, apparently especially w ith the F-94Cfighters which were newly equippedwith air-to-air missiles rather than justmachine guns.As I noted in my MUF ON 2005 pa-per "Government UFO Lies," therewas even a comment by Gen. RogerRamey (of Roswell fame), but now amajor general, that planes had beenscrambled hundreds of times afterUFOs.So much for the notion that UFOsare not a threat to national s ecurity. Inother words, the notion of UFOs de-molishing or disintegrating planesdoesn't seem strange if our planes wereattacking the UFO s.One critic wanted signed swornstatements and full nvestigative reports

    20

of the destroyed planes, which ofcourse, not surprisingly, I don't have.Bu t I think it may help if I discuss theevents I heard about. The first story I heard was at a col-lege in McMinnville, OR. A collegeemployee, retired from the military. hadasked if he could talk to me privatelybe fo re mylecture "Fly-ing SaucersARE Real."

This wasmany yearsago. My lec-ture had beenwel l publ i -c i zed . H eknew I ,wasn't goingStun Friedman to laugh, andthat I hadworked under security.

IA (Informant A) was operating mili-tary radar in K alispell, MT, in the early1950s when word was received from aCanad ian installation to the north that aUFO was heading their way. It waspicked up on radar.A fighter plane which was in the areawas vectored towards it, and the flightof both w as monitored on the radar. Themilitary knew its altitude, speed, anddirection. The two blips came togetherand the plane disappeared. No tracewas ever found.IA told me that the word went outthen not to shoot at UFOs, but take guncamera pictures.. IA had a need toknow for trajectories and activities ofuncorrelated targets because he wouldbe in touch with the radar facility in thedirection towards wh ich the UFO wasgoing. C learly if there had been a n at-tacking force from the Soviet Union, such personnel would be of extremeimportance for defen se purposes.Another informan t called after a ra-

Not long after, ithad been noted that they had suppos-edly been, killed in comb at over th eocean and w ere lost.A case that fit right into the 1952framework was reported to me pri-vately after I had been on the radio talk-ing about the well known sightings overwashington, DC, in the summer of1952.A retired military person told me thatj e t s w ere be i ng s c r ambl ed f romAndrews A ir Force Base for the nextyear after that (not ust in July), and thatin one instance two went up but onlyone cam e back. The pilot was in shockand kept saying that "he went straightup."Weeks later a cover story was putout that the missing plane had gonedown at sea, and the crew could not belocated. The notion that such plane losses

could not be covered up is easily put torest by noting that in 2001 the US gov-ernment convened a numb er of fami-lies together to award medals in thename of 166 US military crewmen whohad been involved in reconnaissancenear the Soviet Union, China, and NorthKorea, mostly in the 1948-1960 timeframe.Their planes were attacked by So-viet forces, with some crew m embersMay 2006
