IQS128 Long Range Proximity Kit IQ Switch® - ProxSense® Series

The IQS128 ProxSense® IC is a stand-alone capacitive sensor controller with high sensitivity and signal to noise ratio for long range proximity detection.

1. Usage The IQS128EV04 Kit comes with two parts, the base board and the module plugin board. The plugin board should have the indented side pointing towards the electrode of the base board when connected.

IQS128EV04 Kit includes:

time with or without a host controller

5. Advantages • Allows for sensor drift in periods of activation and non-activation • Improved digital filtering to reduce external noise • Minimal power consumption (<7µA) when in standby mode (Charge Halt).

6. Device The IQS128 is a single channel capacitive proximity and touch device which employs an internal voltage regulator and reference capacitor (Cs).

The IQS128device has a dedicated pin for the connection of a sense antenna (Cx) and output pin for proximity and touch events on OUT. The polarity of the output pins can be configured. A 1-wire open drain data streaming protocol is implemented for debugging purposes.

Special device configuration can be done by setting one time programmable (OTP) options.

The device automatically tracks slow varying environmental changes via various signal processing algorithms and has an Automatic Antenna Tuning Implementation (Auto-ATI) algorithm to calibrate the device to the sense antenna.

DYCAL™ (Dynamic Calibration) is a special form of hysteresis that can track slow varying environmental change even while the sensor is in a touch state.

The charge transfer method of capacitive sensing is employed on the IQS128. (The charge transfer principle is thoroughly described in the application note: “AZD004 - Azoteq Capacitive Sensing”.)
