Assalamua’Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu Praise be to the Almighty, the Sustainer of the Universe. May Peace and Blessings of Allah be upon our Beloved Proph-et Muhamed (saw), the Seal of the Prophets, His family and His companions, Ameen!

Alhumdulilah, I am very hum-bled to be the Principal of Iqra College; and thank Allah (swt) the Sovereign for all His Infinite Bounties and Blessings. It gives me great pleasure in being part of building a positive, dy-namic, school culture, where Is-lamic values & beliefs will be up-held, effort will be rewarded and our successes will be celebrated as an ‘Iqra family’.

Term 3 School ReportsIt is my desire to see that every student in this school attains success. Reading through the re-ports I can see that a stronger partnership is need-ed between home and school so that each child will develop their learning; and achieve the targets that are set by their teachers. It is imperative that you assist the teachers by ensuring your child does homework, practice their reading, complete tasks that are set across the various subjects. More importantly, it is very important that you attend any parent meetings so that you can hear how you can support your child’s learning. The reports will be sent home on Friday 21st September 2018. Please review it and make contact with the staff.

Term 3 Parent-Teacher MeetingA Parent-Teacher meeting will be held on Tuesday 25th September from 4:15pm -5:30pm with your children’s respective teachers to go through any concerns (both teacher and parent) and to outline areas to work on to assist your children to consoli-date their learning. Primary school meetings will be conducted on a first come first served basis; with each parent allotted 5 minutes (depending on the number of parents who turn up). High school staff will be set up in the hall so that parents can have a chance to see all the subject teachers. Again, I re-quest that you adhere to the time allotted to you so that we can accommodate all parents.

May the Almighty grant us the ability to unite our hands and our hearts for the betterment of our community and to give our children the opportuni-ty to achieve their aspirations. Ameen!

I wish all students and staff a safe, enjoyable holi-day; and look forward to seeing everyone on 16th October 2018, ready for a productive, successful Term 4.

Jazakallah Khairun

HIGH SCHOOL EXCURSION

On Wednesday 29 August week 6 our high school teachers Mr. Reavley, Mr. Bocse and Ms. Bhatia took us on an excursion to Hallet Cove Conserva-tion Park. We split into groups of three, with Kha-lid, Alaa and myself forming a group.

The teachers gave us one hour to go around and do some filming and take photos, we walked up to the mountain and we did some filming and then we went down to the beach, where we saw some crabs and we took some pictures.

When the time finished we went to the Hallet Cove Shopping Centre where we bought some food and snacks for lunch. At twelve thirty we went to the park to pray and play soccer. We stayed there for two hours and we left the park

Finally, at three o’clock we went back to school to do the assignment we had for the excursion. It was a good, fun excursion. I enjoyed the excursion with friends and teachers.

Thank you to the teachers and bus drivers that or-ganized the excursion for us.

ADELAIDE CROWS MULTICULTURAL PROGRAM

These are pictures from the Crows Multicultural Ambassadors Program. We met at Adelaide Oval for the first time 3 weeks ago, Saturday to watch the Crows train and discuss how we can assist each other in our various communities to promote foot-ball. IQRA College is the only school and the Crows are very keen to provide coaching sessions for all students and assist them to actively become in-volved at local club level. Port Power have been actively promoting Ab-original football in the communities since 2007 (I worked in this program) and they have the Ab-original Power Cup each year where all schools partaking in the program, have a football carnival after completing an Integrated Studies focused on football and community topics. This counts to-wards 20 SACE credits. The Adelaide Crows are now focusing on a similar multicultural program and now have a multicul-tural team in the SANFL U16 competition. Our school could well be the first school in the program as Para West Adult Campus was with the Power Cup in 2007 and now there are over 11 schools taking part in the program.

YEAR 9 BUILDING PROJECTIn Science this term, we have been studying the earths plate tectonics and seen how they work on Earth. We learnt about Earthquakes and vol-canoes, also known as plate tectonics in action. For the major practical assignment this term, our project was to design and construct a multi-sto-ry building (model) that is earthquake-resistant, within a budget of $100,000.

The maximum dimensions for the model were:• Base: no bigger than 200mm by 200mm• Height: less than 2000mm tall but not less

than four stories high.

We were required to work with a team of people to research, design and create an earthquake-resis-tant building that will meet the needs of the peo-ple living in our chosen geological hotspot.

DO NOT SHARE PASSWORDS: Students can be tempted to share passwords with their friends. However, this is an open invitation to your online accounts, and it’s often exploited to accomplish online identity theft. Do not tell any-one your passwords and always beware of spam emails and SMS which are specifically designed to get access to your details. Always check the sender details carefully, and if unsure, contact the sender organization directly.

MAKE SURE YOUR PASSWORD IS LONG: It should be at least 8-10 characters long, and lon-ger passwords are even more secure. Some sites or applications may limit the password length.

USE PHRASESRather than using single words that can be easy to crack, string a few words together to create a pass-phrase that is longer, complex and ultimately hard-er to hack than the average password. For example, ‘iloveiqracollege’, or even better - ‘ILoveIQRACol-lege!’.

COMPETITION TIME(FOR REC TO YR 2 STUDENTS) We have several Adelaide Crows posters to give away! All you need to do is guess who the Crows player is in the picture below and you can collect your free poster from Mr O’Donnell.

The program for the remainder of the competition is as follows:

Pri EAL/D – Thur, 20th Sept 2018 Reception – Fri, 21st Sept 2018

Parents are invited to come and watch the com-petition.

PASSWORD TIPS When it comes to creating secure passwords, it is best to not take any chances. Students need to be aware of the risks of bad password management such as identity theft. Here are 5 tips that can help you choose and secure your passwords.

CHOOSE A PASSWORD THAT NO ONE WILL EASILY GUESS OR HACK:Don’t use a word or phrase of special importance to you—like a birthday or family member. That’s the kind of information that can be discovered by someone doing a little digging.
