participants with the dynamics of research methodology and software tools to shape their research
work. It aims to emphasis present requirement for increased academic research. This FDP highlights
on the understanding, planning / conducting scientific experiments, collection and analysis of data to
have fruitful conclusions.
Objectives:
1. To design Research modules & Methodology
2. To prepare research proposal for funding
3. Become aware of elements of a good research and software tools like Origin, MATLAB, Latex
etc.,

Day-1-Tuesday 21st July 2020
Day 1( 21 July Tuesday) began with invocation byDr. Jayashree C. Kambar and followed by
inaugural speech by Prof.S.Japhet, Vice-chancellor, Bengaluru City University, who graced the
occasion with his valuable words of encouragement.
Prof S Japhet spoke on how academic enquiry is the primary purpose of higher education. Through
enquiry we engage in new ideas and questions. Research and enquiry develops critical thinking,
analytical thinking and asking right questions. This is where research methodology and software
tools becomes important. By adding technology and research we can reduce human error and
enhance the speed of research process. Technology can remove the intimidation factor for students
making the process transparent and seamless.
In the context of Covid 19 pandemic the program will change the lives forever. Post Covid has
shaken and disrupted all aspects of human life. It has affected million of people fundamentally and
essentially across the world. This has created challenges and has also helped in creating a better
tomorrow.
It has made us ask basic questions about the purpose of life and evidence based research can be a
solution for it. Our lacuna is that we use uni approaches, but we need the transdisciplinary approach
and this is a challenge. We fail to collaborate with others, we have to use right tools in research.
Research should focus on the wellbeing of the individual. As Mahathma Ghandiji says “if what we
do does on apply to all well being of the individual even to the last one then it is of no use”.
Research should collaboration with our own faculty, our college, various disciplines, and people
outside India. What we do should be in tune with the vision of society that we have to envision
today. It leads to collaborated new society. According to him Post-Covid will bring new Society's, a
politically participative, economically gaining, socially harmonious, culturally enriched, morally
elevating, aesthetically and environmentally seasoning.
This program shall bring new concept and tools. More importantly it should also ignite passion,
inspire us and make us more responsible. This shall help in bringing new evidences.
