Transcript of IPP STATEMENT SSP Duolok Swagelok Interchange Intermix Pages From ASTM F1387 GE 362A2915 Test Plan

  • October 15, 2008

Prepared for: SSP FITTINGS CORP, 8250 Boyle Parkway; Twinsburg, OH USA 44087-2200.

Test Protocol: ASTM F 1387, Standard Specification for Performance of Piping and Tubing Mechanically Attached Fittings, and GE 362A2915, General Electric Compression Fitting Test Specification.

Purpose: To determine compliance of SSP Duolok Instrumentation fittings with ASTM F 1387 99 and the more stringent General Electric, GE 362A2915 test procedure. Test Conditions: All tests were performed at the Tech Center Laboratory of SSP FITTINGS in Twinsburg, OH, except for vibration testing, which was performed at OnSpeX test facility in Cleveland, OH.

Test Methods: All fittings were assembled in accordance with SSP published instructions. All tests were performed in accordance with ASTM F 1387, Standard and Supplementary Tests, as follows: Sizes under test include Duolok , and 1 diameters; Metric sizes are proportional in design to inch in every respect and are included in sizes 6mm thru 25mm. Standard Performance Tests: A 2 Examination of Specimen A 3 Pneumatic Proof Test A 4 Hydrostatic Proof Test A 5 Impulse Test A 6 Flexural Fatigue Test A 7 Tensile Test A 8 Hydrostatic Burst Test A 9 Repeated Assembly Test A10 Rotary Flex Test Section 7.2 Intermixing of MAF Subcomponents (SSP Duolok vs. Swagelok fitting components). Supplemental Performance Tests: S 2 Thermal Cycling Test S 3 Elevated Temperature Soak Test S 4 Vibration Test

Test Results: See OnSpeX Witness Testing Report Number 30008102, October 15, 2008, for detailed test information and related results.

Conclusion: SSP Duolok Instrumentation fittings meet all the above requirements of ASTM F 1387 99 and the GE 362A2915 test procedure.

    5.13 Intermix & Interchange test [ASTM F1387, section 7.2]

    5.13.1 Intermix test

5.13.1.1 This test performs Pneumatic Proof, Hydrostatic Proof, and Hydrostatic Burst tests on tube assemblies where the components of the fittings are intermixed components from SSP SSP and equivalent Swagelok Instrumentation tube fittings. All combinations of components from SSP and Swagelok of the following components are tested: bodies, front ferrule, back ferrule and nut.

5.13.1.2 Assemble tube fitting components per the combinations of

    components shown in Fig. 5.13A.

5.13.1.3 Perform Pneumatic Proof test per 5.2, followed by Hydrostatic Proof test per 5.3 and finally by Hydrostatic Burst test per 5.5 (excepting the provisions of section 5.5.1).

5.13.1.4 Fittings shall have passed the requirements of this test when

they have passed the requirements of these three tests without observable leakage.

    5.13.2 Interchange test, [ASTM F1387, section 7.2]

5.13.2.1 This test performs Pneumatic Proof, Hydrostatic Proof, and

Hydrostatic Burst tests on tube assemblies where the tube assemblies and bodies are interchanged from SSP and equivalent Swagelok Instrumentation tube fittings.

5.13.2.2 Assemble tube assemblies per 4.8, each with SSP fittings on

one end and Swagelok fittings on the opposite end.

    Fig. 5.13B

5.13.2.3 Perform Pneumatic Proof test per 5.2. Disassemble tube bodies from tube fittings on each end, and allow to dry for 8 hours. Interchange ends of the tube assembly, as shown in Fig5.13B, and reassemble per 4.8.

5.13.2.4 Perform a second Pneumatic Proof test per 5.2, followed by

    Hydrostatic Proof test per 5.3.

5.13.2.5 Follow these tests by Hydrostatic Burst test per 5.5 (excepting the provisions of section 5.5.1)..

5.13.2.6 Fittings shall have passed this test when they have passed the

requirements of these five tests without observable leakage.

All the components (Body, Front Ferrule, Back Ferrule, and Nut) have been verified for proper labeling, stamping, of manufacturer. Components have been assembled per combinations on Fig. 5.12B. . Torque Gauge used to tighten the nuts to the body is I.D. 1016702, Calibrated on 09-16-05, and due date of 09-16-06. Place stop collar between the body and the nut. Hand tight the nut. Torque the nut 1.25 turn and record the torque, refer to data log sheet. Verify if the Collar is seat, record Yes or No on the data log sheet. If the Collar is not set continue torqueing the nut till the collar does not move. Record the torque when the collar stops moving, refer to data log sheet.
