1.3 TEDS Editor to define new sensors

With the TEDS Editor Tool you can update and create new TEDS parameters of your sensors. The following drawing shows the system architecture.

IPETRONIK is offering TEDS interfaces suitable for the different LEMO 10-pole, 7-pole und 6-pole sensor input cables.

The new function of the TEDS Editor tool is that sensor can be created from scratch.

When you create a new sensor, you can select from the following 3 templates. The drop dow list of the physical measurement ranges are related to selected template types above.

The screenshot blow shows a new created sensor. IPETRONIK is registered officially as a TEDS sensor manufacturer.

When you create a new sensor, detect the data of a sensor, or load a TEDS binary configuration file most of the data fields are editable as indicated below via the red dots. Some field are not editable for all sensor. Some of the fields are not editable depending on the selected template type.

2.1 Clipboard function for license dialog

Th license dialog is supporting the function to past license from the clipboard directly into the licenses dialog. The button “read from clipboard” is only visible when a license code is stored in the clipboard.

2.2 Unit frame rate

The unit frame rate was introduced to adapt the settings and unit conversion to different frame rates per seconds, minutes or hours.

3 New functions in SIGNALS

3.1 Synchronization of description file on name level only

You can use the description file synchronization function to compare your existing measurement configuration against a new description file. The description file synchronization is useful to get a direct view about the differences between a new ECU description file and your current measurement configuration. In the standard setup the description file is compared on Message ID and channel name.

When one of the two parameters is different, the synchronization will not take place and you will get a notification in the message window. The standard synchronization behavior can cause an additional workload when e.g. a channel is switched to a different message because then the synchronization does not take place and the related links to the VIEW instruments and formulas or storage in ACQUISITION work space etc. is removed as well.

With the new EXPERT setting “Synchronize signals by name” the synchronization mechanism is focusing only on the channel name and not any more on the message ID. The benefit for the user is that the synchronization will take place and the links to the VIEW instruments etc. remain intact to display online data. The screenshot below in indicating on the right-hand side, that the channel “Exhaust_1” was successfully synchronized even so that it is included on a different CAN message ID.

3.2 DBC files supporting initial values for CAN send

When a DBC file includes initial values for CAN message sending, the start values can be imported and displayed.

The initial value becomes only active and visible when the data format is configured in the format tab sheet to output.

3.3 Event controlled signal selection for DBC import

The description file import dialog offers in the channel grid a new configuration function. In the signal grid you can use the column chooser to add a new channel property to the grid which is called Cyclic.

Within the Cyclic column you can switch the measurement mode of all signals included in a CAN message to event controlled or to cyclic operation.

The settings from the import dialog regarding measurement mode is also reflected in the column sample rate in the channel grid as indicated below.

The import of FIBEX files is supporting multiplex signals.

4 New functions in VIEW

4.1 Reset of time axis in Yt-chart for storage events

In the VIEW section of the options dialog you can configure an automatic reset of the relative time axis in an Yt-chart. In the default behavior you may start your data display and execute the storage operation some time later. In this case the Yt-chart keeps plotting the relative time and it is not visible at what point in time the data storage activated.

When you activate the function “Reset relative time on each start of storage” in the VIEW options the display behavior of a storage event will change.

In this case if you run the display of data for some time and you execute the storage button from the ribbon, the diagrams sets the relative time axis for the storage event to zero.

Information

The reset of the time axis is only functional when you operate the storage button

from the ribbon. When you execute the data storage from trigger events the

Yt-chat time axis is not affected.

4.2 Alphanumerical instrument with settings for individual font size

The alphanumerical display is supporting a new font size configuration setting. In the per-channel mode the font size of each channel will be individually set to the available space in the instrument container. The setting is considering the number of decimal places configured in the display tab sheet in the SIGNALS workspace. Text channels are considered in the size calculation with the decimal format “Automatic”. All numeric or text channels with automatic decimal place configuration will get the same font size.

4.3 Edit min/max scaling for joint Y-axis

For diagrams with joint Y-channel axis the min and max display range is commonly configured for all channels associated to the Y-axis in the head-up display.

4.4 Table instrument with responsive minimum font size

The table instrument in the VIEW and ANALYSIS work space is respecting a minimum font size for small application windows to ensure good readability for the user.

In the past the font size was scaled down accordingly to the application window size, the channel names and data in the table instrument was getting unreadable in the case of very small applications windows.

5.1 PlugIn for user specific postprocessing operations

The PlugIn concept is also available for post processing operations. The PlugIn interfaces allows every developer to include his individual post processing operations in the DATA MANAGR work spaces. In order to install the user Operation PlugIn documentation you have to include the SDK package during installation.

The manual is installed in the following directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\IPETRONIK\IPEmotion 2017 R3\UOP

Information In order to develop a user operation PlugIn you need to obtain an official

manufacturer code for your PlugIn.

5.2 BLF traffic data import format

The data import formats are extended. BLF traffic files for CAN, CAN FD und FlexRay traffic are supported. The import of IPEmotionRT data files is coving the new format from new LINUX based data loggers.

5.3 Correction factor settings for FFT and Campbell operation

The FFT and Campbell operation is supporting for the different window function predefined correction actors.

5.4 Relative results for sample count classifications

The sample count and sample count compound classification can display the results also in percent based on all samples counted. In the case that some samples are outside your defined boundaries the calculated percentage will not add up to 100%.

The offline traffic analyzer is supporting extended filter functions

For the traffic filter configuration, the same functions are available as for online traffic filter measurement.

6.2 Yt-chart with graph style display mode

In the head up display of the Yt-chart you can select different graph styles. With the graph style you have an impact on how the graph line will be plotted between the connecting data points.

The impact of the different graph styles will be presented below.

Automatic In this line style mode the default behavior is reflected. When you zoom into the data, at a certain high zoom level the data points appear and the and the data points are connected in a step line type.

Linear In this mode the graph will show on all high and low zoom levels only a line and no data points.
