1.0 SECTION A - GENERAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION

1.1 Project data

1.2 Intent of specification

This specification is intended to cover the design, engineering, manufacture, fabrication, assembly, inspection, testing at manufacturer's works, shop painting, supply & delivery, properly packed, transportation & delivery F.O.R. project site, of Generator Isolated phase Busduct with supporting structure and all accessories (LAPT Cubicle & NGT Cubicle may be included if not covered elsewhere, i.e. BTG Package) for efficient and trouble-free operation and performance of site acceptance tests. It is not the intent to specify complete specification, material list and requirement, however any such equipment/system required for successful operation of the equipment that is observed anytime during execution of the contract shall be supplied by the bidder with no implication whatsoever to the purchaser.

The scope of work shall also include the erection, site fabrication, testing, commissioning and putting into successful commercial operation of all equipment furnished under this specification.

1.7 Qualifying Requirement of the Bidder

1. Necessary information about the financial and technical resources, organisation & experience to undertake the supply of such equipment shall be submitted by the Bidder as an evidence of his capability for satisfaction of the Purchaser.

2. The Bidder shall submit along with his bid a list of major contracts of supply and erection of similar equipment already executed or under execution, giving detailed particulars such as equipment rating, contract value, name of the Owner, year of commissioning etc

3. Apart from the requirements stipulated elsewhere in this specification, the following shall constitute the minimum technical qualifying requirement of the bidder offering against this bid:

3.1 The bidder must be an established manufacturer or supplier of generator busduct as per requirement of the specification and must have tested, supplied and commissioned equipments of similar or higher rating in not less than three projects. Such equipments shall have been in successful operation for at least three years on the date set for opening of the bid and bidder shall provide requisite credentials to support this.

3.2 The bidder must be a regular manufacturer of generator bus duct and must have facilities to manufacture the generator busduct of the type and rating specified

3.3 Notwithstanding anything stated above, the purchaser reserves the right to assess bidder’s financial and other capabilities to execute the contract

3.2 Design criteria

1. The Bus duct shall be designed for indoor/outdoor service suitable for hot, humid and dusty environment. Effect of solar radiation shall be taken into consideration while sizing the busduct.

2. The Bus duct shall be continuously carrying current mentioned in the datasheet at the maximum ambient specified in outdoor application without exceeding the temperature limits.

3. The isolated phase bus duct system shall be provided as a complete sectionalized assembly of rigid insulator (3/4 insulators per support) supported conductors, housed in individual phase enclosures. The maximum shipping length shall be restricted to six meters.

4. A slit shall be kept between enclosure (phase segregated generator terminal adaptor) and generator flange. Suitable covering shall be provided on the slit to allow escape of hydrogen and at the same time prevent entry of rodents/rats etc. The busduct shall not take any support from generator terminal lead box flange & it shall be self supportive.

5. Suitable means shall be provided to isolate vibrations from all equipment. Flexible connections both for conductor and enclosure will be provided at Generator terminal (line and neutral), GCB terminal (both end) if applicable, GT, UT, Static excitation transformer if applicable & NGT panel to isolate the vibration from rest of the bus structure. Flexible conductor & expansion bellows shall also be used in the main run to absorb the expansions in the main run length. All the bellows in main run length shall be metallic type for electrical continuity while other equipment terminal bellows shall be either neoprene/EPDM rubber. Bidder shall furnish the detail calculation supporting the selection of number and size of expansion bellows and flexible.

6. Bus duct and auxiliary equipment shall be capable of withstanding the electromechanical stresses that may arise during normal and abnormal conditions as a result of flexing, vibration, variations in load or temperature, switching, short-circuit, faulty synchronizing, flashover, or other system causes. Necessary calculations shall be submitted for purchaser’s approval.

7. The contractor shall design the busduct and supporting structure in such a way as to permit transformers, GCB if applicable, LAPT, NGT & excitation transformer if applicable removal, after opening the terminations but without dismantling busduct run or supporting structure.

8. The bidder shall supply adaptor box for all terminations that would include generator phase and neutral side, GT LV terminal, both UT HV terminal, VT &SP panel terminal, static excitation transformer terminal if appliacable and generator circuit breaker terminal if applicable. The bidder shall design and manufacture terminal adaptor to match with the terminal flange of the equipment described and shall meet in all respect the relevant standards for busduct termination. Termination details of other end equipments shall be submitted during detail engg.

9. All components in the scope shall have tropical finish and protection.

10. Bidders in their offer shall submit conductor and enclosure sizing calculation w.r.t. current carrying capacity, resistivity required for permissible thermal limits, forces between different conductors in short circuit conditions, skin effect and proximity effect, effect of solar radiations on temperature rise and seismic conditions. KW loss calculation for conductor & enclosure also shall be furnished with the offer. However, bidder shall take an approval from the purchaser for all these calculations in case of award of contract before start of manufacture.

11. Air pressurizing units shall be supplied for keeping the busduct pressurized with guaranteed leakage rate of maximum 5% per hour of total volume. Bidder shall perform site acceptance test for the same.

12. Bidder shall be responsible for coordinating with Generator, GCB if applicable, GT, UAT, static excitation transformer if applicable vendor for interfacing. Bidder shall coordinate with the equipment supplier and design the interfacings accordingly.

13. All parts and sections shall be properly identified with part numbers.

3.3 Construction

3.3.1 Enclosure 1. Type Each phase shall be enclosed in a weather-proof, dust-tight,

non-magnetic metal (aluminium alloy) and continuous type enclosure. The enclosure shall be designed for welded connection suitable for outdoor installation.

2. Material Aluminium Alloy 3. Thickness Bidder shall furnish supportive calculation for sizing.

Bidder shall take approval from the purchaser for manufacture clearance.

4. Electrically Bonded continuous Type

The bus enclosures shall be electrically bonded to minimize induced currents in the surrounding metal structures. Each bus enclosure and each electrical connection between bus enclosures shall provide a continuous path for the currents equal to the maximum current ratings of the enclosed bus. A continuous isolated phase bus enclosure, also referred to as a

"bonded" enclosure in ANSI C37.23, shall be provided. Busduct shall be manufactured in section and bonded at site to make complete assembly.

5. Total Conductor flux outside Enclosure

The enclosure shall be minimum flux type to permit not more than five (5) per cent of total conductor flux outside enclosure.

6. Expansion Bellows in Enclosure

Means shall be provided to take care of expansions due to temperature variation and vibration isolation by provision of expansion bellows at equipment terminations and also in main run. The quantity of flexibles and expansion bellows in busduct shall be based on the supporting arrangement of bus bar/enclosure and the operating temperature range. Bidders shall consider the exact requirement of flexibles and expansion bellows and consider the same in their scope. Metallic bellows (Non-Magnetic) along with necessary flexible links (to ensure required X-section) shall be provided in bus duct run and at the termination at GCB on the generator and generator transformer side. Rubber bellows shall be provided on all equipment termination except for GCB.

7. Type of Rubber Bellows

Rubber bellows shall be weatherproof, long life, non-deteriorating type without any adverse impact with exposure to sunrays, rain etc. The type of bellows shall be subject to purchaser’s approval.

8. Enclosure Shorting Link

Phase enclosures shorting links (Aluminium Alloy) rated for continuous FL current shall be provided at bus duct termination on generator, GT, UT tap off, LAPT tap off and excitation transformer tap off.

9. Bonding with GCB enclosure (if applicable)

The generator breaker (furnished by others) is an integral part of the isolated phase bus duct system; the isolated phase bus duct manufacturer's enclosure design shall include the generator breaker enclosure as part of the bonded enclosure system. The contractor shall co-ordinate with GCB supplier for relevant input.

10. Equipment Terminal end insulation

The enclosure shall be insulated at the connections to the generator, transformers and other equipment so that the longitudinal current shall not flow through or be transmitted to any connecting equipment. The insulation shall be non-deteriorating.

11. Equipment Terminal load transfer

Bidder should ensure that no load is transferred on electrical equipment transformers, generator terminals, Excitation transformer bushing etc. by the bus duct.

12. Insulators Enclosures supported on steel structures shall be insulated from the support steel through insulators. The insulation shall be non-deteriorating type & subject to purchaser’s approval.

13. Inspection Opening Neoprene rubber Gasketed inspection opening/split covers shall be provided to allow easy access for installation,

inspection, replacement or repairs of the insulators, disconnects, bus connections and terminations and Current transformers. Inspection covers/split covers should be connected electrically to the main duct by flexible braids for proper earthing.

14. Wall Frame Assembly Wall-frame and support plates shall be provided where the bus duct run from indoor to outdoor penetrating the building wall. No weight shall be transferred to the electrical equipments, generator terminals, GCB terminal, generator transformer and building wall/structures. No seal of bushing is envisaged due to dry air being used.

15. Filtered Drain Tap Filtered drains tapping with dual stop cocks shall be provided for drainage of condensate at the lowest point and at such other locations where accumulation of condensate can be expected. In particular a drain valve shall be provided at the lowest point of transformer end termination.

16. Enclosure Support The enclosures of all three phases shall be rigidly supported by cross members to maintain parallel alignment.

17. Hot air blowing equipment

Enclosures should be designed suitably for connection with a hose pipe coming from air blowing system. The point of entry of hot air shall be just near the powerhouse building (indoor side). The diameter of the hose pipe connection shall be decided during the detailed engineering. The designed velocity shall be such that it cleans all accumulated dirt and drying is completed in one hour time.

3.3.2 Bus Conductor 1. Material & Grade The bus conductor shall be of high conductivity, aluminium/

aluminium alloy supported on wet process porcelain insulators. The grade shall be same as that of type tested design of the manufacturer.

2. Size of Conductor The conductor size shall be selected to meet continuous operation at rated current at maximum ambient condition without exceeding allowable temp rise specified in technical parameter and also shall meet the static/dynamic forces arising out of short circuit condition. De-rating factors as applicable shall be considered. The sizing calculation shall be submitted for purchaser’s approval.

3. Conductor Connection The bus conductor shall be designed for welded connections except at equipment terminations, bolted disconnect links and bolted flexible. Detailed welding procedure adopted by the manufacturer should be furnished during detail engineering and approved by the owner.

4. Flexible conductor Flexible connections shall be provided between bus sections to allow for expansion and contraction of the conductor. Flexible connection shall also be provided at all equipment terminations. Flexibles shall be generally of copper braids

silver plated with bolted connection. The current carrying capacity of the flexibles shall be 110% of the busbar rating.

5. Number of Flexibles & Size

As a minimum each equipment terminals and straight main run will have one set of flexible, however It is the bidder’s responsibility to ensure sufficient numbers of flexible joints are provided to ensure thermal expansions and vibrations are taken care of without any undue stress on insulator supports The sizing calculation substantiating the selection of flexible shall be submitted for purchaser’s approval

6. Silver Plating & Hardware

All contact surfaces shall be silver plated to ensure an efficient and trouble-free connection. Silver plating details, procedure shall be furnished for purchaser’s approval.

7. Connection Hardware All connection hardware shall be non-magnetic and shall have high corrosion resistance.

8. Removal of equipment The bus shall be designed to permit removal of transformer and generator bushings with a minimum of bus disassembly, and without cutting and re- welding of any part.

3.3.3 Disconnect Link 1. Material Shall be same as that of conductor. 2. Isolation Distance A minimum clearance of 300 mm. shall be provided between

the disconnected bus sections with the link removed 3. Removal/ Reinsertion Disconnect link shall consist of a removable section of

conductor and shall be so constructed as to permit easy removal or reinsertion without alignment difficulties.

4. Links The bus on both sides of the link shall be rigidly supported so that the disconnect link is equal in mechanical strength to any other section of the bus.

5. Location/ Provision Disconnect link shall be provided in the main bus between the generator, generator breaker if applicable, generator step up transformer, static excitation transformer if applicable, unit transformers and tap-off to the surge protection & potential transformer and NGT. The links shall be easily removable.

3.3.4 Insulators

1. Type of Insulator Bus support insulators shall be interchangeable, high creep and high strength, wet process, fine glazed porcelain or high strength cast resin insulators, suitable for pollution level specified elsewhere in the specification.

2. Number of Insulator It is up to the bidder to decide the number of insulators at every support. However bidder’s design must be type tested to withstand the mechanical forces as per the fault levels of this project. Minimum three insulators at each support shall be provided.

easy removal or replacement without disassembly of the bus.

4. Conductor mounting on Insulator

The conductor shall be fastened on the insulator through fixed and slip joints so as to allow conductor expansion or contraction without straining the insulator. Positive contact shall be made between end caps of the supporting insulators and the conductors. Insulator shall be designed to avoid any stresses due to expansion and contraction and stress concentration due to direct engagement of the insulator with the metal fittings

5. Insulating support at bends/tap offs

Additional support insulators shall be provided at bend, at tap offs for withstanding all possible forces.

6. Inspection Window Inspection window with neoprene rubber gasket for proper sealing shall be provided for each insulator.

7. Span of Insulators The span and number of insulators required shall be decided based on the expected dynamic forces due to short circuit and other forces, the same shall be supported with calculations. A safety factor of 2.5 shall be considered while calculating the support span.

8. Insulator test requirement

All the insulators shall be type approved by reputed testing authority and shall be routine tested as per relevant IS. Type test certificate not conducted later than five years shall be submitted for approval, failing which the bidder shall take up the type tests at no extra cost to purchaser

3.3.5 Connections & Terminations 1. Accessories for

termination All matching flanges, terminal adaptors, seal-off bushings, gaskets, fittings, hardware and supports required for termination of the bus duct at the generator, generator circuit breaker, generator step up transformer, excitation transformer and unit transformers and other equipment shall be provided.

2. Termination Adaptor Adaptor of suitable dimension shall be supplied to match with terminating equipment.

3. Co-ordination with associated equipment supplier

In this connection the contractor is required to co-ordinate through the Engineer with the suppliers of the generator, GCB, generator transformer, unit transformers, excitation transformer with regard to connection details, mechanical and thermal stresses

4. Flexible connection at terminating end

Flexible connections both for conductor and enclosure shall be furnished at all equipment termination to provide for misalignment up to 25 mm in all directions. Flexible connection shall also be provided between bus duct supported from building steel and that supported by turbine foundation to prevent transmission of vibration.

5. Isolation distance i. A minimum clearance of 300 mm shall be provided between the end of the bus and the equipment terminals

when flexible connections are removed. ii. Connections and their enclosures shall be such that they

will serve an additional function as disconnect links. iii. The equipment terminal connections shall be readily

accessible and shall provide sufficient air gap for safe isolation of equipment during testing.

6. Bimetallic Plate If the material of bus conductor and that of the equipment terminal connectors are different then suitable bi-metallic connectors shall be provided by the bidder.

7. Seal off bushing Seal off bushings shall be provided at the generator end of the bus duct, GT end, UT end, excitation transformer end, LAPT end, NGT end.

3.3.6 Grounding

1. Enclosure as Ground conductor

The electrically continuous bus enclosure shall be used as the ground bus.

2. Grounding All parts of the bus enclosure, supporting structures and equipment frames shall be grounded such as CT terminal box, wall frame assembly, generator adaptor box etc.

3. Ground pad Ground pad shall be provided at the following locations on the IPBD. Pads shall be of bolted type to accommodate 75 x 10 mm galvanized steel flats.

i. Generator end ii. Generator breaker end (generator side end and GSU side

end) iii. Main run at connection to the delta bus iv. Generator transformer end v. Unit transformer end

vi. Voltage transformer & surge protection cubicle end vii. Excitation transformer

viii. Neutral Grounding Cubicle

3.3.7 Supporting Structures

1. Scope Bidder shall supply all supporting structures required for supporting the Busduct on support structure post and hanger as applicable. These include all members, indoor/outdoor posts, bolts, anchors, shims, base plates, beams, hangers, brackets, bracings and other hardware as required for complete support. Purchaser will provide only concrete pedestal at ground level, bolts if any to be erected in the concrete shall be supplied by the bidder in advance.

4. Outdoor Structure member

Moment connections shall be used to provide rigid structures. The use of angle members for bracing will not be acceptable.

5. Indoor Support Structure

All indoor bus duct supporting members shall be designed for support from the Purchaser's building steel or from concrete floors. All bolts, nuts, washers, gaskets, or other attachment material needed to attach the supporting members to the building steel shall be furnished by the Supplier.

6. All supporting members and hardware shall be designed to limit the transmission of bus duct and supporting member weight forces to equipment. All supports shall be designed to carry the weight of the bus duct during assembly before the welded joints can carry the load.

7. Hot Dipped Galvanized All supports and fittings for steel fabrication shall be hot-dip galvanized after fabrication. Galvanizing thickness shall not be less than 610 g/m2. Any support steels shapes, such as tubing, that can trap moisture shall not be used. All hardware shall be of high strength steel grade 5.6 with weather resistant finish.

8. Design Calculation Design of supporting structures shall be subject to acceptance by the Purchaser. Point loads transmitted to the Purchaser's steel and foundations shall be furnished on bus duct drawings submitted for acceptance. Design calculation supporting structure design shall be furnished to purchaser for approval. Factor of safety shall be 2.0. The design calculation is subject to purchaser’s structural engineer’s review and bidder shall meet all requirements to meet the approval.

9. Support design i. All bus ducts shall be adequately supported and braced to successfully withstand normal operation, vibration, thermal expansion, short circuit forces, seismic forces and all specified design loads. The support structure shall also be designed to take care of cable tray load of 200kg/meter (if required)

ii. Supports shall be designed to provide tolerance of 12mm (1/2”) in the horizontal and vertical directions.

iii. Arrangement of support steel work shall be such as to prevent heating of structures caused by circulating currents.

10. Inspection cover earthing

Hinges of all inspection covers shall be strapped across with flexible earth connections.

3.3.8 Hot Air Blowing Device 1. Type Portable trolley mounted with rolling wheel, can be easily

pulled to different location in the plant.

2. Use For drying IPBD, SPBD after shutdown or overhaul. 3. Blower Ambient air shall be drawn through a washable filter and

pass through thermostatically controlled heater through canvas hose to the busduct & released through opening on the busduct at the other end

4. Sizing The blower & heater shall be sized to dry the whole assembly of busduct in a hours time. Bidder shall submit necessary supporting for purchaser’s approval.

5. Accessories In addition to blower, filter, heater, thermostat other accessories to be supplied are control panel, piping, valves, safety switches, instrumentation, monitoring, canvas pipe connecting to busduct of sufficient length, cable reel etc.

3.3.9 Air Pressurization Unit 1. Purpose To keep the bus duct pressurized & dry in order to avoid

dust & moisture ingress. 2. Construction All equipment shall be mounted on a skid (fabricated out of

steel structure) such that whole unit can be transported as a single block & placed at site.

3. Pressure in side Busduct

½ in of water pressure above atmospheric pressure by clean dry air. The bidder shall guarantee and demonstrate at site the air leakage rate of not more than 5% of total enclosure volume per hour after installation.

4. Scheme The station compressed air shall be used as normal source of air for pressurization. The air shall be dried using one working & one standby (2x100%) regenerative type heater less drier. As a standby to the station air a oil free compressor shall be used. The necessary interlocks shall be provided for start of the compressor only when there is loss in station compressed air. The station compressed air will be supplied at 8 bars and the required reducer with instruments and valves shall be furnished by the bidder.

5. Instrumentation Instrumentation shall be provided to monitor airflow and pressure. Alarms shall be provided when airflow or pressure is outside design conditions. Necessary volt free contacts shall be furnished for alarm to DCS.

6. Each generator bus-duct (IPBD) shall be provided with an air pressurization system consisting of one air compressor with necessary filters, driers, piping, valves, drains, pressure switch / gauges, fittings and necessary controls to ensure a continuous supply of clean, dry, pressurized instrument air supply to the bus duct enclosure to prevent any ingress of moisture from atmospheric air. Compressor shall be oil free type. All tubing shall be of copper.

7. Noise Level The equipment shall be selected with low noise, noise shall no case shall exceed 85 dBA at 1 mtr from equipment.

manometer, and filters shall be furnished to monitor and maintain the compressed air within the pressure limits of the bus duct enclosures. The bus duct enclosures shall have provisions to prevent equipment damage in the event the regulation device fails, exposing the duct directly to the plant compressed air supply.

9. Scheme Flow Diagram A tee-off connection with a non-return and isolating valve and pressure reducer shall be provided for a connection to plant compressed air supply header. Typical scheme to be followed for air pressurization system is attached in Annexure-F

10. Pipe connection One connection point for air supply and metering and one connection point for pressure monitoring shall be furnished in each phase bus enclosure. The indoor air supply and metering connection point on each phase bus enclosure shall be on a horizontal bus run as close as possible to the generator connection seal-off bushing. All air supply and metering connection points shall be at the top of the enclosure. The location of all connection points shall be reviewed by the Purchaser. All connection points shall be 1/2 inch NPT (16 mm with metric thread), coupling type, and shall be plugged for shipping.

11. Local Control Panel One feeder of required capacity shall be made available at each control panel which shall house starters and control systems for blowers, heater, solenoid valves etc. The control panel shall be with IP-52 enclosure protection

12. Bid detail The Bidder shall furnish the following details clearly in his bid:

a) Parameters of clean air b) Requirement of air in m3/hr at NTP. c) Scheme/ method to calculate the leakage rate.

3.3.10 Space heater, Illumination

6. Service Access The bus design shall permit removal or replacement of CTs without dismantling the bus run or supports. CT removal facility should be through a disconnect link or terminal flexible links shall be provided in the adaptor chamber.

7. Ratio & Accuracy Class As per technical parameter 8. Secondary connection &

MB The CTs shall have polarity markings indelibly marked on them .The CT secondary leads shall be brought out through non-magnetic metallic conduits to a marshalling box (MB) with degree of protection IP-55 (IS: 13947 Pt.1). Heat resistant type wires suitable to withstand specified bus duct inside temp shall be used for wiring between CT secondary terminals to the terminal box. The MB shall be provided with removable aluminium gland plate. The facility for shorting and grounding shall be provided at the terminal blocks. In addition to above the marshalling box having termination of line side CTs, the transducers shall be provided to facilitate interface of generator bus duct CTs/PTs with DCS. Accordingly the interconnection from VT panels to this marshalling box shall also be provided. This marshalling box housing transducers shall be located near PT & SP Cubicle

3.3.13 Wiring

1. All wiring shall be done with 650V grade PVC insulated FRLS type stranded copper conductor of not less than 1.5 Sq.mm cross section with suitable lugs (insulated sleeves) on both sides. Each wire shall be identified at both ends with plastic ferrule with wire designation as per approved wiring diagrams. For CT wiring 4 sq. mm copper wire shall be used.

3.3.16 Erection And Commissioning 1. Scope Unloading, transfer, Storage, Positioning, Fabrication,

Erection, Testing & Commissioning, statutory approval if any of all the equipment supplied by bidder. Any other activity not specifically mentioned but required for successful erection & commissioning shall be in bidder’s scope.

4. Consumables Consumables as necessary shall be furnished by the bidder. 5. Testing Kits Bidder shall furnish all the testing and commissioning test kits as required that include, micro ohm meter, HV test kit etc.

3.4 Packing

3.5 Inspection & Testing

3.5.1 General 1. Comprehensive Test Plan Shall be furnished by bidder for purchaser’s approval 2. Advance Notice Two weeks advance notice shall be given to the

purchaser. 3. Customer Hold Point Purchaser will identify CHP on test plan, Bidder shall

proceed only after such tests are witnessed and approved by purchaser.

4. Test Facility Bidder shall furnish all test Lab facility and there accreditation with the bid.

5. Cost of the tests The cost for all routine tests shall be included in the basic price of materials. Bidder shall furnish optional price for conducting type test for purchaser to take a decision at a later date if purchaser intends to carry out / repeat the type tests.

i. Bidder shall submit type test reports on similar rating of busduct conducted not earlier than last five years along with the offer.

ii. All equipments to be supplied shall be type tested ones.

iii. Bidder shall furnish optional price for conducting type test on the Busduct, LAPT & NGT Panel in the price offer.

iv. In the event of order the contractor shall furnish type test reports of all equipments in his scope for purchaser’s review. In case bidder is not able to produce type test certificates, the bidder must change the equipment make/type else carry out type test at his own cost/delivery implication.

6. Type Test Reports

v. Certified test reports in requisite sets shall be furnished to purchaser for their review & acceptance. Dispatch of material is permitted on written clearance of purchaser.

i. Routine & Acceptance test shall be performed on all equipment, bought out equipment, finished products in line with relevant standards.

7. Routine Test Reports

ii. Routine Tests shall be performed in presence of purchaser’s representative if so desired by the purchaser. The bidder shall give at least seven (7) days advance notice of the date when the tests are to be carried out.

delta run and tap-off run. Test assembly and criterion should be as per CBIP manual on busduct publication no. 303 and as per IEEE C37.23-2003.

ii. Impulse voltage withstand on a typical section of main run, delta run and tap-off run as per IEEE C37.23-2003 / IS 8084.

iii. One minute high voltage power frequency withstand test on a typical section of main run, delta run and tap-off run as per IEEE C37.23-2003 / IS 8084.

iv. Momentary withstand current test (as per IEEE C37.23-2003) on representative sections of 3-phase bus ducts in main run, delta run and tap-off run, each including one bend. The sections having longest span between support insulators shall be chosen.

v. Short time withstand current tests on one section of main run, delta run and tap-off run, each including one bend as per IS-8084 & IEEE C37.23-2003. The sections having longest span between support insulators shall be chosen.

3.5.4 Site Acceptance Test 1. The tests indicated herein are indicative only. Bidder shall furnish the site FQP

indicating all the tests to be conducted on equipment supplied and installed for purchaser’s approval. The site test plan shall be in line with relevant standards, and best of industry practices.

2. One minute high voltage power frequency withstand test after installation. 3. Insulation measurement test at site after installation before and after HV test. 4. Air leakage test and water tightness test of bus duct system after installation at site. 5. Mill volt drop test at site after installation. 6. 10% radiography and 100% DP test on all site welded joints of busbar and

enclosure. 7. Ratio and polarity tests on current and voltage transformers.

3.6 General Requirements

3.6.1 Proposal Data 1. The proposal data sheets (Schedule A –K) annexed to this specification shall be typed

in without ambiguity 2. These pages must be signed by the authorised representative of the Bidder as

verification of the data and submitted along with the bid to form part of the Bidder’s formal proposal

3.6.2 Drawings & Annexure 1. All drawings and annexures appended to this specification shall form a part of this

specification and supplement the requirements specified herein 2. This specification shall be read and construed in conjunction with the drawings and

annexures to determine the scope of work and terminal points 3. The quantities shown on drawings and annexures are tentative for bidding purpose

only. Any variation arising during detailed engineering stage will be taken into account for adjustment of contract price based on unit rates quoted in Schedule C of the bid.

3.6.3 Completeness of supply 1. It is not the intent to specify completely herein all details of the equipment.

Nevertheless, the equipment shall be complete and operative in all aspects and shall conform to highest standard of engineering, design & workmanship.

2. Any material or accessory which may not have been specifically mentioned but which is necessary or usual for satisfactory and trouble-free operation and maintenance of the equipment shall be furnished without any extra charge.

3. The Contractor shall supply all brand new equipment and accessories as specified herein with such modification and alteration as agreed upon in writing after mutual discussion

3.6.4 Guaranteed Performance & Liquidated Damages 1. The performance figures quoted in Schedule B shall be guaranteed within the

tolerance permitted by relevant standards. 2. The losses shall be computed as per ANSI 37.023 at specified rated conditions to

establish the performance as indicated in the Specification. 3. Should the supplier fail to meet the guaranteed parameter, the liquidated damages at

the rate specified under would be charged to the bidder. However if the actual losses exceed the guaranteed figures more than 3% of guaranteed value, the equipment is liable for rejection by the purchaser.

4. Generator bus duct Losses shall be calculated as per ANSI 37.023 at rated current & maximum operating temperature. Losses provided in technical particulars shall be guaranteed without any positive tolerance. Bus duct losses shall be taken into account while bid evaluation. Loss capitalization rate: Rs *******/- per kW loss Liquidated Damages rate: Rs *******/- per kW loss

3.6.5 Deviation 1. Should the Bidder wish to deviate from this specification in any way, it shall be

clearly mentioned in Schedule I with reference to the respective clause of the specification.

2. Unless such deviations are recorded in deviation sheet and submitted with the offer, it will be taken for granted that the offer is made in conformity with this specification in all respects.

3.6.6 Training 1. The training shall be imparted by a senior trainer. 2. Training module to include details of equipment, their periodic, preventive

maintenance and trouble-shooting.

3.6.7 Drawing Approval 1. Before starting manufacture of any equipment, the contractor shall have to take

approval of the relevant drawings, data sheet and Quality Assurance Plan from Purchaser in writing.

2. Any manufacture done prior to the approval of drawings / data shall be rectified in accordance with the approved drawings / data by the Contractor at his own cost and the equipment shall be supplied within the stipulated period.

3.6.8 Documentation The bidder may note that the drawings, data and manuals listed herein are minimum requirement only. The bidder shall ensure that all other necessary write-up, information, etc required to fully describe the instrument are to be submitted.

Bidder shall furnish the guaranteed parameter data in this schedule. The value shall be the maximum value including tolerances (no tolerances will be applicable on the values furnished). Fraction of a kW will be rounded of to the next digit. This value shall be used for evaluating the bidders offer by capitalizing the losses. The losses shall be evaluated & if actual losses are higher than the declared value the liquidated damages would be applicable at the rate specified in the specification.
