1.1 Introduction

This document describes the various requirements, procedures, and information required to load CCBII software.

2 General Description

WARNINGDanger of personal injury exists. Locomotive parking brake should be applied and wheels chocked before starting the CCBII/26 Mainte-nance Tool. Use of the CCDII/26 Maintenance Tool may cause release of the applied air brakes on the locomotive. Ensure ALL rail-road safety procedures are observed while using the CCBII/26 Main-tenance Tool. Failure to follow these safety procedures could result in personal injury.

3.1 Introduction

This section describes how to set-up and operate the GEH IPM Console Program and related hardware to load CCBII software.

3.2 System Requirements

• Computer, IBM Compatible, Pentium® III, 300MHz equivalent processor or higher

• Microsoft® Windows® XP Service Pack 2 or higher

• 128MB RAM or more as required by operating system

3.3 Hardware Requirements

• Available 9 pin D-sub Serial port or Laptop w/docking station

• 1 standard 9 pin D-sub Serial cable

3.4 Software and Documentation Requirements

• GEH IPM Console Program

• 8000152-60X.XXX (program)

• PP-000022B.doc (users guide)

• Required EAB Software

• .hex file for the appropriate software (to load application “IPM” type being used) software)

3.5 Software Tool Installation

3 "IPM" Type Being Used Software Loading

NOTEOther Service Pack screens will be similar.

3.6 Required Hardware Construction and Usage

3.6.1 Serial Cable Modification

A serial cable must be connected between the J2 connector on the “IPM” type being used and the computer’s serial port OR Serial to USB Adapter. This 9 pin cable must have its # 5 and 9 pins shorted together to prevent the Watchdog timer from rebooting the “IPM” type being used when you attempt to upload software.

3.7 Loading “IPM” TYPE BEING USED Software

3.7.1 .HEX File Loading Procedure

Start with both “IPM” types being used and EPCU off. Open the Air Brake Circuit Breaker to stop any communications between the “IPM” type being used and the EPCU.

Start GETS-GS IPM Console program and set the COM Port by selecting Configuration / COM Port. Set the COM Port to COM 1 and the speed to 9600.

A “Port Saver” can be modified by soldering a bridging wire between pins 5 and 9 and used with a conventional Serial cable.

NOTEConsult locomotive wiring diagram or builder for exact name of electrical breakers.

NOTEYou must load the "MIP" after every "IPM" type being used loading even if the EPCU is not being loaded.





You MUST Click in the upper window as shown BEFORE you turn on the “IPM” type being used otherwise you will see the following screen when you try to “Hit Any Key Within 4 Seconds”:

If this message appears, click “Cancel”. Click in the upper window as shown and power cycle the “IPM” type being used again. Then you will see the Boot Flash Screen.





Determine the correct Boot Flash type as show below.

"OLD BOOT FLASH"

"NEW BOOT FLASH"





"NEW IPM CPU"

3.7.2 “OLD BOOT FLASH” “IPM” Type Being Used Loading Procedure

Turn on “IPM” type being used. (If the “IPM” type being used and EPCU are on the same switch, the EPCU may also be turned on).

You will see the following screen:

You MUST hit “ENTER” within 4 seconds.

Select Option #2





With a “Slow Load” (Old Boot Flash) “IPM” type being used, the old application does not need to be erased from memory before a new one can be loaded.

You MUST click on Commands/Program/Application/Matrix CPU-Old Boot Flash (2nd option).





Select Project to be loaded and then select the .hex file for that project. Click “Open” and application starts to load.

When loading is completed (approx. 22 min.) cycle “IPM” type being used power and select option 3 and go to the Debug Monitor then input “fmb 1a400 0 e5c00” in the IPM Console text box and press the “Execute” button. This clears the Ram storage memory of the “IPM” type being used. Wait 5 seconds and cycle “IPM” type being used power and the application checksum will appear in “Trace”. Insure the application checksum matches the application’s SRA.

3.7.3 “NEW BOOT FLASH” “IPM” Type Being Used Loading Procedure



You MUST hit “ENTER” within 4 seconds as stated on the screen. The question mark indica-tes you are within the prescribed timeframe.

With a “Fast Load” (New Boot Flash) “IPM” type being used, the old application must be erased from memory before a new one can be loaded. Click on Commands/Erase/Applica-tion.





Next a Warning screen appears.

Click “OK”. After application erasure is complete, verify your Boot screen says “Matrix Boot Diagnostics”. Then you MUST click on Commands/Program/Application/Matrix CPU-New

Boot Flash (3rd option).






Once the software has finished loading the application checksum will appear. Insure the application checksum matches the application’s SRA

Input “fmb 1a400 0 e5c00” in the IPM Console text box then press the “Execute” button. This clears the Ram storage memory of the “IPM” type being used. Wait 5 seconds and cycle “IPM” type being used power.

3.7.4 “NEW IPM CPU” “IPM” Type Being Used Loading Procedure







You MUST hit “ENTER” within 4 seconds as stated on the screen. The question mark indica-tes you are within the prescribed timeframe.

With a “New IPM CPU” “IPM” type being used, the old application must be erased from memory before a new one can be loaded. Click on Commands/Erase/Application.





Next a Warning Screen appears:

Click “OK”. After application erasure is complete, verify your Boot screen says “IPM CPU Boot Diagnostics”. Then you MUST click on Commands/Program/Application/New IPM CPU

Card (4th option).






Once the software has finished loading the application checksum will appear. Insure the application checksum matches the application’s SRA

Input “erase_sram” in the IPM Console text box then press the “Execute” button. This clears the Ram storage memory of the “IPM” type being used. Wait 5 seconds and cycle “IPM” type being used power.

3.8 Troubleshooting

If the IPM Console returns a different checksum than is shown on the SRA:

• Verify you are loading the correct software

• Verify you are using the correct SRA for the software loaded

• Verify you are loading the software into the correct type of IPM.

NOTEIf loading the IPM only, the next required step is to load the MIP in accordance with Section 4.7 of this manual. Failure to load the MIP may result in improper system functionality. This will be done auto-matically if the IPM is already on a system that is being loaded with EPCU software in accordance with Section 4.





4.1 Introduction

The CCBII/26 Network Management Software, hereafter referred to as the CCBII/26 PTU, was designed to ease the task of maintaining the software resident in a CCBII/26 system along with giving the user visibility of local LRU event logs and fault logs, system pressures and handle positions. The primary tasks performed by the software include the following:

• Scan network and return the identity of all nodes found on the network including the neuron id, and identifying data such as system number and node software revision for each node identified on the network.

• Load entire system with the appropriate application code and binding data. Binding data is the data resident in each node on the system. It specifies how network variable data is communicated between nodes on the system.

• Check bindings for each node on the system and post a message for each node in which the bindings are improper or erroneous.

• Access each node individually with the ability to identify the node with its corresponding neuron id, system number and version.

• Load application code and bindings

• Check bindings

• Read and display fault and event logs associated with each node.

• Check communication with each node

• Ability to read and save to a file any location on the node.

• Minimal network commands - Online, Offline and status.

• Continuously monitor system pressures and handle positions.

• Reset all nodes on the system.

4.2 Hardware Requirements

• Laptop or Tower, IBM Compatible - Pentium® III, 366MHz equivalent processor or higher

4.3 System Requirements

4.5 Software Tool Installation

4.5.1 Echelon “U10” USB Network Interface installation

Insert the Echelon installation CD into the computer’s CD/DVD drive. The Open LDV Installer should start automatically.

If not, click on the “OpenLDVxxx.exe” in Windows® Explorer.

You will then see the following screen:

CAUTIONYou must install the "OPENLDVxxx.EXE" software before plugging the "U10" USB network adapter into an open USB port.





Accept the License Agreement

The OpenLDVxxx.exe program loads.





Click "Finish" to complete the installation of the Open LDVxxx.exe.

Reboot the PC after installing the OpenLDV runtime software.





4.5.2 “U10” USB Network Interface Adapter Installation

The U10 USB Network Interface Adapter can either be installed directly into an open USB port, or via the supplied USB cable.

4.5.3 USING THE “U10” USB NETWORK INTERFACE ADAPTER

After installation of the U10 USB Network Interface Adapter, the “Found New Hardware” Wizard starts.

Select ”Install the Software automatically (Recommended)”. Then click “Next” to conti-nue.





If you see a warning screen that the software has not passed “Windows Logo” testing, click “Continue Anyway”.

After the software is installed a completion window will open. Click “Finish”.

After the first time a U10 USB Adapter is installed on a computer, subsequent sticks installed will see the following:

4.5.4 CCBII/26 PTU Tool Installation

The tool is released in a self-extracting executable file which will place the required setup files in \TEMP directory. Upon completion, executing the setup.exe file will begin the installa-tion software. The installation software will, via step by step windows, install CCB2PTU.exe and its related files.

4.6 Loading EPCU Software

4.6.1 BASELINE EPCU CONDITIONS

Before CCBII/26 software can be successfully loaded into the EPCU, all nodes should be online and have its Green LED lit. After a powercycle, this condition should be met. If there is a Yellow LED lit this is an indication that software is being loaded. A Red LED indicates a failure of some kind and software may be able to be loaded. A flashing Red LED indicates the Node is in an un-configured state. Try to load EPCU software and after a powercycle if any Node shows a Yellow or Red LED lit, contact NYAB Hotline at 1-800-645-4564 for further instructions.

4.6.2 .PRJ File Loading Procedure

Upon starting CCBII PTU you will see the following screen:

This screen identifies the software version. Click on "START" to begin the program.

This will bring up a Warning window about possible release of the brakes upon continuing.

You must press "OK" to proceed with use of the tool.

The following window will then appear.





If you decide not to go on at this point, select "Cancel" from the "Open Project" dialog box shown above.

OPEN PROJECT ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• This is a conventional "open file" dialog box that allows you to navigate the directory structures of your computer.

• You can change the manner in which you view the files

• Unique project names identify the Project Number, Release Level and the Release level Date Code. The naming convention is as follows XXXX_YY_ZZZZZZZ.prj, where XXXX is the NYAB parts list, YY is the software release number, and ZZZZZZ is the date code in year, month, day format.

After selecting a project to open, a new window will appear allowing selection of various TABS that are described in the next section.

4.6.2.1 TAB NAMES

4.6.2.2 NET SCAN TAB

Upon selecting “NET SCAN” tab, you will see the following window:

The “NET SCAN” window shown above is used to “scan” the system and deter-mine the identity of each node and verify that the CCBII PTU and each node on the system are communicating. Note the project number is displayed in the lower left-hand corner of each screen.

Click on "START" to initiate the scan. The CCBII PTU will then proceed to deter-mine the node type, NYAB Serial number, Control Node NYAB Serial number, neu-ron id, system revision data, and the status (whether or not the scan was successful for a particular node).





NET SCAN ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• "START" button - This button activates the scanning of the network.

• Node Type - This indicates the Nodes Name.

• LRU NYAB serial number - This should reflect the NYAB serial number that is stamped on a particular LRU. These numbers are only assigned or modified during the manufacturing process.

• C/N NYAB serial number - The control node serial number is displayed for reference only.

• Neuron ID - This number comes from the neuron processor and can be used in place of a service pin.

• Revision - This item is a text string within the neuron which is set during the soft-ware build process. This date should match the dates shown in the SRA.

• Status Bar- Located at the top of the Tool window, this indicates the current status of the Netscan.

• "Information/Status" window - This window is on all tabs and is located at the bottom of the Tool window and is used to display information as the tool is perfor-ming a task.

• The "Current Project" window - This window is found in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. This is present for all tabs





4.6.2.3 LOAD ALL TAB

The "LOAD ALL" can be used to load the entire CCBII system (less “IPM” type being used application) with application software and bindings. Upon selecting "LOAD ALL", you will see the following window:

Clicking on the “START” Button brings up a window where you can indicate the Locomotive Road number.

NOTEIt is recommended to turn off the "IPM" type being used when load-ing just the EPCU.





LOAD ALL ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• "START" button - This button activates the loading of the nodes on the network. The "START" button activates another window prior to loading the nodes on the net-work. This window is where you can indicate the locomotive road number you are loa-ding.

• Locomotive Number dialog window - Do one of the following actions at this window:1. Provide up to a 5 character alphanumeric indicator (only the first 5 characters will be

recorded) and press "OK".

2. Provide no information and press "OK"

3. Press "Unknown" if you do not know what the locomotive number is (as we woulddo for loading systems at the factory or loading spares.)

• Neuron ID - This number comes from the neuron processor and can be used in place of a service pin.

• Program ID found - This indicates the program identification string found for loading

• Filename - This indicates the name of the file being loaded to this LRU

• Status - This gives the user an indication of "successful downloads", "failed" loads and/or "failed bindings" software loading problems.

• "CANCEL" Button - This allows the user to cancel the loading process. It should be noted that a cancel would not be able to be completed until the LRU that is currently being loa-ded is done loading.

A Warning screen may appear at the beginning of a “Load All” operation, “Unable to put MIP offline”.

CAUTIONCanceling a "LOAD ALL" operation before completion will leave the brake system in an unconfigured state. The brake system will be rendered inoperable until a software loading operation is complete.





Click “OK” and if the loading fails, start an RS-232 Serial Port Terminal program, such as IPM Console or Windows® Terminal, and type “F” to manually take the MIP offline. This is known as a “Hard Offline” command. Redo node loading.

When a successful download of all nodes is complete, a Warning window will appear “Cycle power on the IPM and EPCU”.

Click “OK” and powercycle the “IPM” type being used and the EPCU.





4.6.2.4 NET DATA TAB

The “NET DATA” screen, shown above, monitors various system pressures and handle positions on a continuous basis.

To initiate the reading of these parameters click on “START”. The “START” button then changes to a “STOP” button. As noted on the bottom of the screen, 16T pressure is only valid while self-test is running and backup pressures are only valid when primaries have failed.

NOTEThe pressures and handle positions are updated to the screen approximately once per second.

NOTEIf you did not do a "NETSCAN" prior to performing pressure read-ings, the tool will automatically perform a "NETSCAN" before any pressures are read.





"STOP" must be selected to terminate the process.

Clicking on the “DATA” tab located at the bottom of the window, allows you to view the pres-sures and handle positions on a time delineated chart.

NOTEThe CCBII/26 PTU tool will not close with an active "NET DATA" running. Click the "STOP" button before switching screens to another tool function.





NET DATA ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• "START" ("STOP") button - The Start Button begins the reading of the pressures/handle positions. The Start Button will toggle between “Start” and “Stop” each time it is pressed.

• “View Pressures” button - There are two (2) viewing options for the units of measure in which pressure can be displayed. 1. PSI - pound per square inch

2. KPa - Kilopascals

The viewing option can be changed during the reading cycle that allows the user to view either/or "on the fly".

• System Pressures - The readings for system pressures are taken from the net-work variables that provide the system with running data.

• Handle Positions - The readings for handle position are taken from the network variables that provide the system with running data.

• Data – This tab provides a chart of all pressures and handle positions on a time delineated chart.

• Error Messages - Upon "Start" the program will sequentially read each network variable and display results. There are 3 (three) different results you may see:

1. 0.00 psi (or KPa) - This is a valid pressure or handle reading, noting that the actual reading may or may not be 0.00.

2. Invalid - This indicates the tool received something but the range for which it considers a reading to be valid was exceeded.

3. Read Failure - The tool was unable to read the network variable.





4.6.2.5 RESET ALL TAB

The “RESET ALL” screen shown below resets all nodes on the system. Click on “START” to reset all nodes.

After selecting “START”, a message will appear which says “Wait - Resetting All Nodes”.





Each node in turn should flash a yellow LED followed by the Red LED. As this happens, you should be able to hear each EPCU node reset itself as a series of clicks.

When the operation is complete you should see the following screen:

• "START" button - This button activates the resetting of all nodes on the net-work.

4.6.2.6 INCIDENT LOG TAB

The “INCIDENT LOG” tab provides a means of recording information in a organized, ret-rievable manor.

INCIDENT LOG ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• FAIL DATE - This automatically puts the current date for a new record.

• LOCO NUMBER - This provides a means of storing and viewing the unit number.

• RAILROAD - This provides a list box which is updateable via the CCB2PTU.ini file for the railroad which the problem occurred.

• PART NUMBER REMOVED - This provides an area for recording / viewing the part number/s removed.

• LOCATION - This provides a list box which is updateable via the CCB2PTU.ini file for the location where the work is being done.

• REPORTED BY - This provides an area for recording / viewing a persons name associated with the incident.

• SAVE\ DATA SAVED - This button saves the information to the data file. If the data has not been changed the GREEN ”DATA SAVED” button will remain. If the data has been changed the RED “SAVE” button appears.

• PROBLEM - This entry field is for recording what the indicated problem was.

• WORK DONE - This is a entry field for recording what work was done in attempting to resolve the issue.

• RESOLUTION - This is a entry field for recording what was the final solution to the pro-blem. This does not have to be Air Brake related.

• < or > - This provides a means for scrolling through the incident log records





4.7 LRU SPECIFIC TAB

The “LRU” (Line Replaceable Unit) Specific tabs (Loading, Logs, Fault, Utilities, Calibration and Report) allow you to perform numerous functions for a individual Node within the CCBII system. Selecting any of the LRU tabs (BP, ER, 20, 16, 13, EBV, and MIP) will cause a window to appear, similar to that shown below.

4.7.1 LOADING TAB





LRU LOAD ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• LOAD - Loads a single LRU depending on which tab was selected.

• NODE ID - This button to scans the network for the selected LRU and returns its unique neuron ID.

• READ BIND - This button reads binding information from the selected LRU and compares this to reference data. This determines if the LRU's bindings are accurate.

The BP window, shown above, may be selected by clicking on the “BP” tab on the multi-tabbed pages. All information that follows also pertains to the EBV(EBV A & EBV B for dual EBV systems), BP, ER, 20,13, and MIP specific windows.

Upon clicking the “LOAD” button, application and binding data are loaded into the BP node in the same manner as that described for the “LOAD ALL” Tab. In this case, only the single BP portion is loaded instead of the entire system.

As in “LOAD ALL”, a progress bar will appear at the top of the screen giving a visual indica-tion of progress of the load.

After the load completes, power cycle the "IPM" type being used and the EPCU.

NOTEIt is recommended to turn off the "IPM" type being used when load-ing just a single EPCU mode.





Clicking on “NODE ID” button will initiate a scan of the Node (in this case the BP Node) in the same manner as “NET SCAN”, and its neuron id, system number, and revision will be returned if the scan is successful.





The “READ BIND” button reads binding information from the selected LRU and compares this to reference data. This determines if the LRU's bindings are accurate. The status will indicate either “Binding Good” or “Binding Failure”.

4.7.2 LOGS TAB

The “LOGS” Tab provides a means for viewing the LRU internal event log. Click on “REFRESH DATA”





After clicking “REFRESH DATA” you will see the following screen:

LRU LOGS ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• REFRESH DATA - Uploads the event log into a viewable format. The format is color coordinated failed records are RED, pass records are GREEN, undeterminable records are YELLOW. The last record written to is WHITE with either RED or GREEN text depending on pass or fail state.

• VIEW EVENT LOG ONLY - This button switches the view from options to the log, the REFRESH DATA will automatically switch to viewing the log as it reads data.

• VIEWING OPTION CHECK BOXES - These check boxes change which columns are viewed prior to REFRESH-ing the DATA





4.7.3 FAULT TAB

The “FAULT” Tab provides a means for viewing the LRUs internal fault log, calibration data and runtime data.

Click on “REFRESH DATA” and you will see the following:





LRU DATA ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• REFRESH DATA - Uploads the fault log, into a viewable format.

• FAULT LOG - The fault description is LRU specific so the text will be different for each LRU type.

4.7.4 UTILITIES TAB

The “UTILITIES” Tab provide network management tools for use by NYAB Engineering.

4.7.5 CALIBRATION TAB

The “CALIBRATION” Tab provides the means to view the Loading Log and take the Node offline, Refresh the Calibration Data and Refresh the Run-Time Data.

Clicking on “Loading Log” will take the node offline and provide a history of that node’s software loadings. The red number indicates the number Node loads.





Clicking on “REFRESH CAL DATA” will provide the Portion’s transducer calibration data.





Clicking on “REFRESH RUN-TIME DATA” will provide Run Data, Lead Data, Number of Power Cycles, On Time in seconds and Lead Time in seconds.

LRU CALIBRATION ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• LOADING LOG – Provides Loading Log Number, Date Loaded, Time Loaded, User ID of person loading and the Filename of the software loaded.

• REFRESH CAL DATA – Provides calibration data of the Portion’s transducers.

• REFRESH RUN-TIME DATA - Provides Run-Time data, Lead Time data, Number of Power Cycles, and Lead Time in seconds.





4.7.6 REPORT TAB

The “REPORT” Tab provides a screen for viewing all data gathered in a summarized manor. The data is Tab Delimited.

Click on “RECORD DATA” to fill the report with data.





Click on “FILE” brings up the standard Windows® “SAVE AS” window to save the file.

Click on “PRINT” to open the standard Windows® Print window to print the Log file.





LRU REPORT ITEMS OF INTEREST:

• RECORD DATA – This button fills the report with Data.

• FILE - This button provides a means for saving the report to a file.

• PRINT - This button allows you print the information if a printer is available.

NOTEAdditional data can be typed into the window and either saved or printed.





When the “RECORD DATA” Tab is selected under “REPORT” Tab, data is filled into predefined headers. To prevent these headers from displaying empty data the following sequence should be followed for each individual Node to provide a complete Node Log Report.

1. “CALIBRATION” Tab / “LOADING Log” / “VIEW”.

2. “CALIBRATION” Tab / “REFRESH CAL DATA”.

3. “CALIBRATION” Tab / “REFRESH RUN-TIME DATA”.

4. “LOGS” TAB / “REFRESH DATA”.

5. “FAULT” TAB / “REFRESH DATA”.

6. “REPORT” Tab / “RECORD DATA”.

7. After the report is printed to the screen, enter the Node Type, eg. BP, ER, 20, etc., in the first line two spaces right from the Software Identifier.

8. “REPORT” Tab / “FILE” Tab.

9. "REPORT" Tab / "PRINT" Tab, only if you wish the Node Log Report to be printed.

• This window warns of a possible brake release by using the PTU software. Check to make sure parking brake is set. (See Open-ing Screen)

• This window MAY mean the node loading will fail. Click “OK” and if the loading fails, a hard off-line must be performed. Start the IPM Console program and type “F” to manually take the MIP offline. Redo node loading. (See Load All Tab)

• This window indicates there is trouble communicating with the MIP. The MIP may be offline OR the IPM type used MAY be un-powered or disconnected. (See Load All Tab)

• This window instructs the user to cycle power off then on to the IPM type used and EPCU. (See Load All Tab)





• This window indicates there was a Bindings problem with a Node. (See Read Bind Button from LRU Specific Tab)

• This window appears within the “Utilities” Tab when the inputted starting address is larger than the ending address.

• This program operation MAY cause the system to enter BACK-UP mode. Cycle power to IPM type used and EPCU when you wish to get out of BACK-UP mode.





7.1 LON Device Failed to Open

To troubleshoot any communication problems with an LRU on the Lon network use the Lon-Works® Network Interface Configuration program. To start the LonWorks® program go to My Computer/Control Panel and look for one of the following icons:

7.1.1 PCLTA/PCNSI Device Driver

If you are using the PCLTA/PCNSI Device Driver the following window will appear:

Click on “Diagnostics” and the following window will appear:





Click on “Reset" and the following window will appear:

Click on “Comm” and the following window will appear:

Click “YES” and the following window will appear:

Use a small magnet to swipe the node’s service pin. Then click “Quit” and exit the program.





7.1.2 PCC10/PCLTA10/PCLTA20 Device Driver

If you are using the PCC10/PCLTA10/PCLTA20 Device Driver the following window will appear:

Click on “Diagnostics” and the following window will appear:





Click on “Restart” and the following window will appear:

Click on “Yes”, then on “Reset” and the following window will appear:

Click on “Comm” and the following window will appear:

Use a small magnet to swipe the node’s service pin. Then click “Quit” and exit the program.

7.1.3 U10 USB Network Adapter Device Driver

If you are using the U10 USB NETWORK ADAPTER Device Driver the following window will appear:





Click on “Wink”.

The Yellow “SVC” LED on the “U10” USB Network Interface Adapter should light. This indicates the unit is functioning correctly. If it does not respond,

• Verify this computer is running Windows® XP.

• Verify this computer has a USB Host Controller installed.

• Verify the “SVC” LED briefly lights when the “U10” USB Network Interface Adapter is inserted in a USB port. If it does not, then no power is reaching the Adapter.

• Verify that another USB device works properly in the USB port.

• Verify the “OpenLDVxxx” software has been installed on this computer by clicking “Start” / Settings / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs. Verify the “Echelon OpenLDVxxx” item exists.

• Insert the “U10” USB Network Interface Adapter directly into the computer’s USB port, bypassing any USB hubs or USB extension cables.

• Insert “U10” USB Network Interface Adapter in another USB port.

• Reboot the computer.

• For further troubleshooting, see “Users Guide.pdf” located on the installation CD.

If you still receive the message “LonDevice failed to open”, check the “Lon” number of the “Ready” device at “Start” / Settings / Control Panel / LonWorks Interfaces / USB tab. If only one “U10” USB Network Interface has been installed, the name is always “Lon1”.





If two or more “U10” USB Network Interface Adapters have been used on this computer, determine the “Ready” adapter and note its name. In this case it is “Lon2”.

Open C: / WINNT / CCB2PTU. It should open in "Notepad".

Scroll down until you find the line ”LonDeviceName=LON#”. Change the “LON#” to the number of the “Ready” adapter as shown in the “Start” / Settings / Control Panel / LonWorks Interfaces / USB tab. Save the file and exit. Restart the CCBII/26 PTU Tool.

The “U10” USB Network Interface Adapter should now function.





7.2 Trouble Communicating with Node

The “FIND NODE” dialog box will appear if the CCBII PTU can not initially communicate with the node. Click on “SERVICE PIN” and swipe the Node’s LED’s with a magnet.

Swiping the Node with a magnet must be accomplished before the timeout occurs.

NOTEThe service pin is activated by passing a magnet over the LED face of the LRU control node until the yelow light blinks.





The Blue bar located just above the text box indicates how much time is left to activate the Node’s service pin with a magnet. Upon activation, the Yellow LED located on the Node will flash briefly and you will see the following window:

Click “OK” and the Tool process will continue.

If you do not activate the Node’s Service Pin with a magnet within the prescribed time, you will see the following screen:

Your choices are:

1. Click “NEURON ID” and enter the nodes neuron id.

2. Click “OK” and return to “SERVICE PIN” - “NEURON ID” window and try again.





When the “NEURON ID” button is pushed the following window appears:

Enter the neuron id in the text box and click “OK”. (Note: The neuron id should have been recorded after identification with either “NET SCAN” or “LOAD ALL”.)

7.3 CCBII/26 Tool Will Not Close

Click on “NET DATA”. Insure the “START” button is visible. If you see the “STOP” button, then “NET DATA” is active and the tool will not close until the “STOP” button is clicked.

The Software and Documentation will be used only by your employees, only for your own internal business use and not in the operation of a service bureau or for the benefit of any other person or entity.

2. Ownership

You do not own the Software. Rather, you have a license to use the Software as long as this License Agreement remains in full force and effect. Ownership of the Software, Documentation and all intellectual property rights in the Software will remain always with NYAB. Any other use of the Software by any person or any other entity is strictly forbidden and is a violation of this License Agreement.

3. Copyright

The Software and Documentation contain material protected by United States copyright law and trade secret law and by international treaty provisions. All rights not granted to you in this License Agreement are reserved to NYAB. You may not remove any proprietary notice of NYAB from any copy of the Software or Documentation.

4. Restrictions

This License Agreement is your proof of license to exercise the rights granted in this License Agreement and must be retained by you. You must protect the Software and Documentation consistent with NYAB's rights, including informing persons who are permitted access to the Software and Documentation to satisfy your obligations under this License Agreement (e.g., to maintain the confidentiality of the Software and Documentation). You will treat as confidential and may not publish, display, disclose, rent, lease, modify, loan, distribute, or create derivative works based on the Software or Documentation or any part of them. NYAB warrants for ninety days after delivery that the Software will perform substantially in accordance with the description found in the User’s Guide included with the Software. Should the Software not so perform, your exclusive remedy -- and NYAB's sole obligation under this warranty -- shall be, at NYAB's sole discretion, correction of the defect or refund of the license fee paid for the Software. Any use by you of the Software is at your own risk. This limited warranty is the only warranty provided by NYAB regarding the Software. Except for the limited warranty above, the Software is provided "as is.” NYAB disclaims all other warranties of any kind, either expressed or implied, including, without limitation, implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. NYAB does not warrant that the functions contained in the Software will meet any requirements or needs you may have, or that the Software will operate error free, or in an uninterrupted fashion, or that any defects or errors in the Software will be corrected, or that the Software is compatible with any particular platform. NYAB is not obligated to provide any updates to the Software.

6. Third Party Software.

Third party licensors may have licensed to NYAB software that NYAB then embedded in the Software ("Third Party Software"). The licensor of any Third Party Software has a proprietary interest in such software. Beyond the limited warranty provided by

NYAB under this Agreement, NYAB passes through to you all warranties on the Third Party Software provided by the licensor of the Third Party Software.

7. Patent and Copyright Indemnity

NYAB will indemnify and defend you against any claims that the Software as delivered infringes any United States patent or copyright, provided that you give NYAB prompt written notice of such claim and information, reasonable assistance, and sole authority to defend or settle the claim. In the defense or settlement of the claim, NYAB will, in its reasonable judgment and at its option and expense: (i) obtain for you the right to continue using the Software; (ii) replace or modify the Software so that it becomes noninfringing while giving equivalent performance; or (iii) if NYAB cannot obtain the remedies in (i) or (ii), as its sole obligation, end the license for the infringing Software, and upon receipt of the infringing Software, return only the license fees paid by you for such Software, prorated over a five-year term after delivery. NYAB shall have no liability to indemnify or defend you if the alleged infringement is based on: (i) a modification of the Software by anyone other than NYAB; or (ii) use of the Software other than in accordance with the User’s Guide or the terms set forth in this Agreement; or (iii) use of the Software in combination with software, hardware or equipment not provided by NYAB.

8. Limitation of Liability

In no event will NYAB or the licensor of any Third Party Software be liable to you or any third party for any incidental or consequential damages (including, without limitation, indirect, special, punitive, or exemplary damages for loss of business, loss of profits, business interruption, or loss of business information) arising out of the use of or inability to use the Software, or for any claim by any other party, even if NYAB has been advised of the possibility of such damages. NYAB's liability with respect to its obligations under this agreement and the liability of NYAB and the licensor of any Third Party Software with respect to the Software and Documentation or otherwise shall not exceed the amount of the license fee paid by you for the Software and Documentation. The provisions of this License Agreement -- such as the limitations of warranty and limitations of liability -- reflect an informed, voluntary allocation between the parties of all risks (both known and unknown) in the transactions associated with this License Agreement.

9. Export Restrictions

This license agreement is expressly made subject to any laws, regulations, orders, or other restrictions on the export from the United States of the Software or information about such Software which the government of the United States may impose from time to time. You shall not export the Software, Documentation, or information about the Software and Documentation, if such export would not comply with such laws, regulations, orders, or other restrictions.

10. Termination

This License Agreement is effective until ended. You may end this License Agreement anytime by destroying or returning to NYAB all copies of the Software and Documentation in your possession or under your control. NYAB may end this License Agreement if NYAB finds that you have violated the terms of this License Agreement. Upon notification of termination, you agree to destroy or return to NYAB all copies of the Software and Documentation and to certify in writing that all known copies, including backup copies, have been destroyed. All provisions relating to confidentiality, proprietary rights, and non-disclosure will survive the termination of this Software License Agreement.

11. General

This License Agreement will be construed, interpreted and governed by the laws of the State of New York without regard to conflicts of law provisions from there. The exclusive forum for any disputes arising out of or relating to this License Agreement will be an appropriate federal or state court whose region includes Watertown, New York. This License Agreement is the entire Agreement between the parties. Any waiver or modification of this License Agreement will only be effective if it is in writing and signed by both parties hereto. If any part of this License Agreement is found invalid or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remainder of this License Agreement shall be interpreted to effect the intention of the parties.

12. U.S. Government Restricted Rights

The Software (including the Documentation) is provided with RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or disclosure by the Government is subject to restrictions as set forth in subparagraph (b)(3) of the Rights in Technical Data and Computer Software clause of DFARS 252.227-7013 or subparagraph (c)(l) and (2) of the Commercial Computer Software-Restricted Rights clause at 48 CFR 52.227-19 as amended, or any successor regulations.
