JANUARY 18 TH , 2014 IOWA HORSE COUNCIL ANNUAL MEETING Toxic Plants by Dr. Steve Ensley Dr. Steve Ensley grew up in northeast Kansas where his father has a mixed animal practice. He received his BS and DVM from Kansas State University. Dr. Ensley practiced mixed medicine in Nebraska and Kansas for over 12 years. Following practice he obtained a MS and PhD in toxicology from Iowa State University. While completing his advanced degrees at Iowa State University, Steve worked in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory for 5 years. After completion of his PhD, he was the Director of the University of Nebraska’s Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at North Platte, Nebraska. Dr. Ensley then worked for Bayer as a research toxicologist/pathologist. He returned to a toxicology position at the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at Iowa State University in May 2006. In his present position Dr. Ensley teaches, conducts research and is the clinical toxicologist in the diagnostic laboratory. Dr. Steve Ensley grew up in northeast
