Note From Mr. Starke’s 3 rd Grade The third graders in Mr. Starke's class have been busy learning so much during the first half of the year! In math, we have learned and practiced strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division! We have just begun taking weekly timed tests to stay sharp on these basic math facts. In reading, our weekly stories have helped us practice comprehension skills and strategies such as finding main ideas and details, generalizing, and drawing conclusions. All the third graders come to visit my class for science, where we have just finished our Earth Movements unit. We learned about volcanoes and earthquakes, as well as continental drift and Pangaea. We look forward to a fun and successful second half of the school year, so keep working hard to make that happen! Merry Christmas from Mr. Starke and Sammy Claus! IMPORTANT!!!  Mr.  Kalk’s  4th  Grade  Class

Students are having a lot of fun working with magnetism and electricity. We are investigating permanent magnets, building electrical circuits with D-cell batteries, and exploring electromagnetism. The class has successfully used a flashlight battery to light a bulb and start a motor, and is now moving into more advanced circuits. It is amazing to see the kids work together and problem solve to expand their understanding of magnetism and electricity!

Here  are  a  few  reminders  to  help  keep  the  school  year  running

smoothly.

• Please  check  in  with  the  office  after  you  are  buzzed  in  every  time  you  come  into  the  building.    We  want  to  be  able  to  greet  you  and  be  aware  of  who  is  in  our  building  at  all  times.

 • Students  enter  and  exit  the  building  through  their

assigned  grade  level  doors.    This  keeps  us  from  having  congested  hallways  and  doors  during  those  busy  times.

 • School  hours:    8:00  a.m.  -‐  3:10  p.m.    Students  should  not

be  arriving  before  7:50  a.m.  unless  they  are  eating  breakfast.    Breakfast  starts  at  7:30  a.m.  and  ends  at  7:50  a.m.

 • If  your  child  will  be  absent  or  tardy  for  any  reason,  please

call  the  office  at  402-‐293-‐4510  and  let  us  know,  otherwise  we  will  call  you.

6th Grade Happenings Interested to see what is "happening" in 6th grade? The sixth grade teachers of Belleaire, Miss Bernstein & Mrs. Loghry, have created Facebook pages for parents, students, and other teachers to stay informed with events, projects, homework, etc... Photos are added almost weekly of interesting projects the students are working on or of events that parents need to know about. Parents are welcome to submit any requests for what they would like to see Miss Bernstein & Mrs. Loghry share.

If you would like to start following, please search Loghry's 6th Grade Happenings or
