GranTanaRando in Italy (21-22 May 2016) Dear Randonneurs, we are happy to invite you to the first edition of GranTanaRando 2016, a randonnée which will certify a 200-kilometre or 400-kilometre brevet. The route goes across a territory that is part of UNESCO World Heritage, following the river Tanaro up to its sources. ROUTE: starting in the Monferrato, in the splendid settings of the Cittadella (citadel) of Alessandria, always following the Tanaro river, it goes through the famous Piazza of the Palio of Asti and then leaves the Roero hills, entering the Langa hills, passing by the Cathedral of Alba and the beautiful town of Barolo, to go up to the High Langa and then down to Ceva. From there it will enter the Tanaro Valley, up to Ormea and then climbing to the sources of the Great River up to Upega and then back, through a plain, to complete the 400 km back in Alessandria. Cyclists who will choose to do only the 200 km leg from Alessandria to Upega will be transferred in comfortable coaches, together with their bicycles, from Ceva to the starting point in Alessandria in the early morning of Saturday 21st. At the end of the stage in Upega, cyclists may then cycle back to Ceva (fifty kilometres downhill) to return to their means of transport. We will provide the names of a number of available accommodations in Ceva and surrounding areas, if you wish to extend your stay and turn your visit into a short break. Typical products and classic southern Piedmont hospitality in each refreshment/checkpoint. A randonnée which also wants to leave you with the memory of landscapes and unforgettable encounters in this magnificent region.
