1. General Information On May 8th, 2010 we will celebrate and remember the 65th Anniversary of the end of World War Two in Europe, also known as VE-Day. Mid-April 1945, General Patton’s 3rd Army swept through Thuringia, liberating the first concentration camps in Germany. The VIII Corps, in which, among others, where the 87th and 89th Infantry Division, 4th and 6th Armored Division played a key role in the fighting in this region. In close cooperation with the German town of Langenorla, we have the unique opportunity of organize a military camp in East Germany. An event like this has never been organized in this area of Germany and will have a very large media coverage. Every participant will receive a formal invitation by the town of Langenorla after the inscription form (in annex) has been returned, allowing to travel to and from with equipment/weapons/vehicles to the field camp.

2. Location Thuringia now belongs to Germany, before 1990 it was a part of East Germany. It is also known as the green heart of Germany, with major cultural and historical sites as Weimar, Jena, Buchenwald memorial and many little towns and villages. The town of Langenorla is situated in the Saale-Orla District, a very green and beautiful area in the Eastern part of Thuringia. 3. Objectives The organization committee wishes to achieve the following objectives:

a. Organize a U.S. Army military field camp, based on the U.S. Army units that served in the ETO during WW2 (especially Germany).

b. Uphold the highest quality in display and re-enacting, through the use of equipment, weapons and vehicles of that period.

c. Add an international character to the field camp, by inviting U.S. Army re-enacting groups from all over Europe to support the event.

d. Allow the participants of the field camp who came with a U.S. Army wartime vehicle, to participate in a unique tour through the region, with large media coverage and public interest.

e. Participate in the “USO Evening”, that will be hosted by the town of Langenorla, in close cooperation with United States Armed Forces.

f. Participate in the international commemoration

4. Timetable

Thursday, May 6th 2010 Arrival is possible as of this day on the location. Friday, May 7th 2010 Further arrival and installation possible. Field Camp operational on Friday evening. For those already present, possibility to visit the Buchenwald concentration camp memorial site near Weimar. Friday evening : welcome by organization, briefing and BBQ Saturday, May 8th 2010 Reveille, Breakfast and further preparation (if needed) Preparation of vehicles for tour Departure of vehicles for tour, with stops in Kahla (Market) and Hummelshain Castle (Guided visit) Return to Field Camp, Lunch 1330 Hr Everything ready for “Open Door” until 2100 Hr 1400 Hr “Open Door” starts, visitors allowed “Taxi Pool” with old-timers, funding returns to drivers 1800 Hr International ceremony and commemoration in the presence of Ambassadors,

5. Logistics

a. Meals

Meals will be provided by the town of Langenorla, as of Thursday May 6th evening until Sunday morning May 9th, prior to departure. You may nevertheless bring own food supply with you. In the region are plenty of stores that are open until 2000 Hr.

b. Sanitation Toilets and showers will be available free of charge for all participants.

c. Gas station Around 10 Km distance from Langenorla, in Pössneck, two major gas stations (TOTAL and SHELL) are situated.

d. Parking facilities

These will be marked for the participants. e. Medical support will be present.

6. Costs From own experience, we value the participation of the re-enactors, well-knowing that they are the key players to the success of an event like this. We may be able to provide the meals for the re-enactors free of charge or at a very low price (which will be provided as soon as possible, after January 22nd meeting) We are also fully aware of the financial charge transport produces and will support the participating groups/individuals on a fair base with a refund that will be determined in the January 22nd meeting. The amount of refund will based on the type and quantity of transport.

During the “Taxi Pool” event, visitors will be able to join an old-timer on a fixed route, with funding returning to the driver(s) !

1. Alle Teilnehmer des Feldlagers erkennen die ihnen ausgehändigte Lagerordnung in allen Punkten an. All Participants at the field camp accept the camp regulations in its current form. 2. Die Gemeinde Langenorla hat euch als Gäste eingeladen. Bitte verhaltet euch auch so. Anweisungen der für

Sicherheit und Ordnung zuständigen Mitarbeiter ist unbedingt Folge zu leisten. The town of Langenorla has invited you as guests. Please behave as such. All internal and security directives, given by the responsible persons is to be followed. 3. Das Feldlager hat internationale Teilnehmer, wodurch ihr die Gelegenheit bekommt, andere Vereine kennen

zu lernen und in ihrer Darstellung zu akzeptieren. The field camp consists out of international participation, allowing you to meet other associations and to accept their display.

4. Im Feldlager sind Abfallsäcke aufgestellt. Bitte entsorgt euren Abfall in diese. Garbage bags will be provided in the field camp. Please use them accordingly. 5. Anweisungen, in schriftlicher oder mündlicher Form, vom Organisationskomitee muß Folge geleistet werden.

Any directives, either in written or oral form, coming from the organization have to be followed. 6. Bei Ankunft im Feldlager, bitte sofort in dem dort befindlichen Organisationsbüro melden, damit die

Einweisung erfolgen kann. Upon arrival, please check immediately with the organization, so that we can bring you to your position.

7. Das Feldlager demonstriert verschiedene US Armee Einheiten, die Ende des 2. Weltkrieges in Europa im

Einsatz waren. The field camp will display different units of the U.S. army, that were in action at the end of WW2 in Europe.

8. Jegliche Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS oder andere parteipolitische Organisationen des 3. Reichs sind auf dieser

Veranstaltung grundsätzlich verboten. Any Wehrmacht, Waffen-SS or other political organizations of the Third Reich are strictly forbidden.

9. Zur Wehrmacht gehörende Ausrüstungsgegenstände dürfen nur im Gesamtbild der Geschichte der Alliierten

dargestellt werden (zum Beispiel als „Trophäe“…). Any equipment belonging to the former Wehrmacht can only be used when it is integrated in the history of the Allied troops (for example as „trophy“…).

10. Die Darstellung soll historisch korrekt sein und wird von Seitens der Organisation und den Verantwortlichen

der Gruppen/Vereine genau verfolgt. Ihr alle seit während dieser Veranstaltung „Botschafter“ des Gedenkens und habt erstmals die Möglichkeit in Thüringen eure „Living History“ einem breiten Publikum vorzustellen. The display should be historical correct and will be monitored from the organization and the group/associations responsible. During the event, you are the “ambassador” of remembrance and have the unique opportunity to perform “Living History” in Thuringia for a large public.

11. Das Feldlager ist eingeschlossen und kann mit den Fahrzeugen nur durch das Ein- bzw. Ausgangstor passiert werden. The field camp will clearly defined and vehicles are allowed only through the entrance/exit gate.

12. Beim Aufbau, sowie Demontage des Feldlagers, sind Zivilautos erlaubt. Ab Freitagabend müssen alle

Zivilautos auf einem Sonderparkplatz geparkt werden.. Civilian cars are allowed during the assembly and disassembly period of the field camp. On Friday evening all civilian cars will be parked on a special designated parking. 13. Bitte lassen Sie keine Wertgegenstände in den Autos liegen. Die Gemeinde Langenorla ist zwar ein sehr

„sicherer“ Ort, kann aber keine Haftung für Diebstahl übernehmen. Auf Grund der zu erwartenden großen Anzahl von Besuchern am Samstag. Please leave no valuable items in your car. The town of Langenorla is a secure place, but will not assume any responsibility for theft. Also bear in mind that on Saturday a large crowd is expected.

14. Das Tragen des „Field Uniform“ oder „Class A Uniform“ ist nur auf dem Veranstaltungsgelände der Gemeinde

Langenorla zugelassen sowie während der örtlich festgelegte Aktivitäten. Außerhalb der Gemeinde ist das Tragen der Uniform, mit Ausnahme der Teilnahme an der Fahrzeugkolonne und „Taxi Pool“ oder beim Tanken, nicht erlaubt. Wearing the field uniform or „Class A uniform is only allowed inside the town of Langenorla, where the events take place. Outside the town the uniform, with exception of the vehicle tour, the “Taxi Pool” or during refills, is not allowed.

15. Alle mitgebrachte Bewaffnung muss vorher beim Organisationskomitee angemeldet sein, damit die

Gemeinde Langenorla dies erfassen kann. All weapons that will be present have to be declared prior to the event to the organization, allowing the town of Langenorla to register them.

16. Alle Teilnehmer müssen im Besitz einer bestätigten Anmeldung sein. Das zugesandte Anmeldeformular

demzufolge bitte genau ausfüllen und per E-Mail an das Organisationsbüro zurück schicken. All participants need to in possession of a official invitation. The subscription form will be completed with all data and send through E-mail to the organization.

17. Strikt verboten ist scharfe oder Übungsmunition jeglicher Art. Das Feldlager soll das Leben in der US Armee

wieder spiegeln und keine Waffenshow werden. Any live or blank ammunition, of any kind, is strictly forbidden. The field camp should show the live of the U.S. army and not became a weapons show.

18. Die Handhabung aller mitgebrachten Waffen, sowie deren Sicherung, liegt in der Verantwortlichkeit der

Eigentümer(s). Vor allem am „Open Door“ muss dies beachtet werden. Manipulation of the weapons, as their security, remains a responsibility of the owner(s). Especially during the “Open Door” this has to be closely monitored.

19. Bei Diebstahl von Ausrüstung jeglicher Art, ist die Organisation nicht verantwortlich. Bitte informieren Sie sofort die Organisation, damit die Polizei informiert werden kann. In case of theft of equipment, of any kind, the organization cannot be held responsible. Please inform the organization immediately, allowing us to contact the local police.

20. Die Nutzung der Armeefahrzeuge untersteht der StVO in Deutschland. When using army vehicles, please bear in mind the German traffic code. 21. Alle Fahrzeuge sollten Verkehrs- und Versicherungstechnisch in Ordnung sein. All vehicles need to be in order regarding traffic and insurance policy. 22. Wenn ein Fahrzeug das Feldlager verlässt, muss die Beleuchtung eingeschaltet sein. When leaving the field camp, all vehicles will have their main lights on. 23. Die Geschwindigkeit innerhalb des Feldlagers beträgt 5 Miles/Hour. Speed inside the field camp is limited to 5 Miles/Hour. 24. Tankmöglichkeiten sind kein Problem, am nächsten liegt Pößneck (Abstand 10 Km). Gas stations are no problem and are situated at Pößneck (Distance 10 Km). 25. Beim Nachtanken mit Kanister auf dem Gelände, bitte dafür sorgen, dass kein Betriebsstoff in den Boden

gelangt. Das Gleiche gilt auch für Motoren die eventuell Öl verlieren oder dies nachgefüllt werden muss. When refueling at the field camp terrain, please ensure that no fuel is lost on the ground. The same applies for engines who might have an oil leak or need refilling.

26. Die Möglichkeit für ein Lagerfeuer besteht auf einer extra dafür ausgewiesenen Stelle. On the terrain, a location will be available for a camp fire. 27. Bitte besonders auf die Brandgefahr achten. Sollte auf Grund von lang anhaltender Trockenheit kein

Lagerfeuer möglich sein, wird dies den Teilnehmern bei ihrer Anmeldung mitgeteilt. Please pay attention to fire hazards. If a period of longer dryness should occur, we will brief you on this upon arrival.

28. Am Freitagabend wird es ein allgemeines Briefing gegeben, auf der alle Teilnehmer anwesend sein müssen. Friday evening a general briefing will be given, to which all participants need to be present. 29. Schützenlöcher dürfen gegraben werden, müssen aber am Sonntag wieder vollständig verfüllt werden! Foxholes may be dug, but have to been completely filled on Sunday! 30. Die Mahlzeiten werden von der Gemeinde Langenorla organisiert und im Festzelt der Gemeinde, neben dem

Feldlager, ausgegeben. All meals will be provided by the town of Langenorla and will be served in the main tent, besides the field camp.

31. Am Samstagabend ist ein „USO Evening“ vorgesehen. Alle Teilnehmer sind herzlich willkommen, auch hier ist ein professionelles Auftreten wünschenswert. Die jeweiligen Verantwortlichen der Gruppen/Vereine tragen hierfür die Verantwortung. On Saturday evening a „USO Evening“ is scheduled. All participants are more than welcome, but keep a professional attitude. The responsable of every group/association will ensure this.

32. Jedes fahren eines Fahrzeuges setzt voraus, das der Fahrer vorher nicht getrunken hat. It is clear that when using a vehicle, the driver has not used any alcohol. 33. Sanitäranlagen (Toiletten und Duschen) sind vorhanden.

Wir bitten alle Teilnehmer diese nach Nutzung entsprechend sauber zu verlassen, damit auch andere Teilnehmer sie sorglos nutzen können!

Sanitation (toilets and showers) will be present. We kindly urge you to keep the installations clean, allowing other participants also to use them without problems!

34. Es werden offizielle Vertreter vieler Nationen, Überlebende, Veteranen und US Armee Angehörige präsent

sein. Zeigt euch bitte professionell im Verhalten! Officials from various countries, survivors, veterans and U.S. army soldiers will be present. Please behave professionally!

35. Haltet euch genau an die „Timetable“, da verschiedene Aktivitäten am Wochenende stattfinden. Please follow the „Timetable“, as we will have several activities during the weekend. 36. Mit der Demontage des Feldlagers am Sonntag bitten wir alle Teilnehmer, sich vor der Abreise beim

Organisationskomitee abzumelden. Prior to departure on Sunday, we kindly ask all participants to check out with the organization.

37. Achtet bitte genau darauf, euer genutztes Gelände auch sauber zu verlassen. Please pay attention, upon leaving the terrain, to clean it. 38. Medizinischer Versorgung ist gewährleistet. Sollte dies nötig sein, bitte sofort die Organisation informieren.

Medical support will be present. In case of emergency, please inform the organization immediately.
