Student Expectations/Responsibilities:

Missed class time/evaluations: If a student misses a quiz, presentation or other in-class work, he/she will be expected to complete the missed component on the first day he/she returns to class. Students are responsible for getting the work they missed when they return (all class notes, assignments, homework). Please see my website as I will be updating daily and you can obtain any missing notes, assignments etc. from home.

Late assignments: Please see me ASAP if you feel you will be unable to meet an assignment due date so that we can make arrangements for an extension. Extensions will not be given to students who arrive the day an assignment is due and ask for further time, arrangements need to be made prior to the due date (with the exception of your one Life Happens! Coupon). Please note that assignments may not be accepted after they have been returned to the class marked. Late assignments will only be accepted if an extension form has been completed.

Plagiarism: Plagiarism constitutes a serious academic offence. Taking someone else’s work or quoting another person’s research/ writing without reference; copying and pasting from the Internet and cheating are all examples of academic dishonesty and will not be looked upon lightly. There are a number of consequences associated with this depending on the degree of offence, including receiving a zero for copied or plagiarised materials, admin referral and/or call home.

Disruptions:Students are expected to follow the discipline policy as outlined in the student agenda. Inappropriate behaviour could include arriving late for class, disrupting the class or activity, disrespectful behaviour, uncooperative attitude/defiance, being repeatedly unprepared for class, leaving class without permission, and inappropriate language. If a student chooses to disrupt the class, a phone call home or admin referral may be the consequence.

Cell Phones:Students are permitted to use their cell phones before morning classes, during 10 minute breaks in between classes, during lunch and after classes at the end of the day. Students are not permitted to use their cell phones in any capacity (checking the time, calculator, texting, etc) during classroom instructional time. If a student is using their cell phone during class, it will be taken and sent to the office for the remainder of the school day and will be logged as a minor referral. Students can obtain their phone from the office at days end. If the student continues to have their cell phone out in class, the above action will be taken, however it will then be logged as a major referral with contact being made to home and administration and consequences determined.

Students are expected to uphold the responsibilities that are discussed at the beginning of the semester. These responsibilities will ensure we have a safe and positive

environment to learn in andhave some fun throughout the semester!
