INVENTOR OF LEGOOLE KIRK CHRISTIANSEN

Ole Kirk Christiansen• Ole was Danish and started as a carpenter, and he made

small wooden toys for his children. In 1947 he started using plastics to construct his toys. He came up with the name LEGO from the Danish” leg godt” which means play well. The word Lego also means “I put together” in Latin.

LEGO is line of construction toys manufactured in Billund Denmark.

Approximately 19 billion Lego elements are produced per year. 2.16 million are molded every hour, 36,000 every minute.

More than 400 billion Lego bricks have been produced since 1958
